Not a great deal, sorry to say! Very noisy at the front. No breakfast served? Not good! No food to be eaten in the room: Bad news!! If you were to list that on your Webside, I feel that your bookings will suffer. I think that you need to do more to improve the service that you are providing. Tis is not a complaint but an observation. You need to change the current toilet suite in the Cromwell room for a 'close coupling' one with a slimline cistern so that when the door opens it does not hit the toilet seat thus making entry into the ensuite difficult. Secondly, the wash basin is a disaster. the space allowed for the basin between the shower cubicle and the wall is far too small.

First night ..... There is no reception, entry into hotel works by entry code Booking.com do not tell you this, a separate email arrives from the Hotel I did not know this until I couldn't get in, No reply from reception just answering machine. So had to find a internet access to get code from email. Second night code had changed, got grumpy response from someone who sounded as though he had been woken up. Analogue tv Badly tuned dirty remote control, bathroom arranged so it blocked the window therefore bedroom had no window furniture looked as though it had come from a house clearance sale been badly painted and was smelly and dirty. 3Rd night Did not sleep because of noise from plumbing which continued all night.

Location to Hove and Brighton No staff. Entry was by code system . Bedroom furniture was substandard. It needed a lot more loving than a lick of paint. Checkout was by intercom which obviously went through to someone on a mobile. Altogether an average stay.

Good location and comfortable bed. The hotel room wasn't clean. The bathroom was incredibly small in comparison to the size of the room itself. The hotel was classified as 4 star but I fail to see how this is correct.

Excellent location in Hove, close to central Brighton. Restaurants and pubs nearby. For the price the room was perfectly comfortable, warm and had good facilities. It was a little small but fine for just one night.

After reading some of the poor reviews (what do people expect for £60?) we were slightly concerned, but were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the service is very good (our original room was unavailable and we received a phone call the day before to apologise and explain). There isn't a reception, but it's not a problem as there's a telephone number if you have any concerns. The room had everything we required - iron, hairdryer etc and is within walking distance of the centre of Brighton.

The location was good. Short walk to the seafront and shops. The walls were quite thin, you could hear the people next door talking. Was also quite noisy with doors banging etc at night.

We liked the freedom and convenience of the check in and out service. The room was clean and to our taste and the location was excellent. Th only thing I would say is although the self check in is conveinient, some may prefer to talk to someone in person especially if any problem should occur.

Lichfield House was advertised on Booking.Com as a Four Star hotel. Indeed, it is rated as Four Star by "Quality in Tourism", which is defined as "Excellent level of quality and comfort." What's more, Lichfield House's own website states "Enjoy the comfort of First Class". Frankly that is utter nonsense. When I arrived it turned out to be an Edwardian building turned into bed-sits. There is not even a reception desk. The rooms are small and the furniture, carpets and curtains are cheap, old and worn. The bed is uncomfortable. Without exaggeration, I can say that I have soup bowls at home that are bigger than the bathroom sink. There is mini ironing-board in the room which has very small legs, as it is designed to be placed on top of a table. However, there is no such table in the room, so if you need to iron anything, you have to sit on the floor to do it. The only positive thing I will say is that the towels and sheets were very clean.

Well what can I say... Was it the fact that the room was still being cleaned past 2pm as we checked in, was it the fact that the previous occupants left hash all over the room, or the fact that the bathroom leaked/poured into the room, the bed was broken and was still broken after someone was called to fix it? hmmmmmm, hard to decide.

I didn't like anything about my stay at Lichfield house. I would strongly advise against stay at this hotel (actually guesthouse as there is no reception or human face to it). I don't understand how it earned its four stars. My room, although heavily discounted, was valued at £100 per night (a double). However it was barely bigger than the bed (which was broken - a snapped slat underneath left a depression in the bed) and had originally formed part of the front room of the hotel. The room was filthy - a thick layer of grime on all surfaces. The decor was also very disappointing - dated and ugly. Booking.com advertises an inclusive continental breakfast of "warm croissants, fresh fruit and fresh juices are available each morning, alongside traditional cooked breakfasts." (Accessed on 31st August 2011 on booking, and currently on 5th September 2011 at time of review writing). Breakfast was also advertised in the hotel's guest guidebook. Upon investigation in the morning we quickly ascertained there was no breakfast - I called the reception and was told bluntly and rudely that I was wrong, that breakfast was never advertised and "was not included in the rates". I found out that not only was breakfast "not included", but it also did not exist - as the breakfast room (next door to our room) was evidently being renovated into another bedroom (we spotted a toilet being fitted into the room - another micro-en suite). Due to these renovations the hotel was effectively a noisy and dirty building site. There were also major issues with a boiler throughout the night, resulting in a loud repetitive thump at (very) regular intervals. If we had not been exhausted after a day of travelling we would have taken our business elsewhere. I was very upset by the obvious con this establishment is: filthy, noisy, deceptive, and without the smallest notion of customer service. I have stayed in cleaner and more pleasant youth hostels.

-The chinese lady was friendly and helpful even though she had just got a parking ticket from the warden as we turned up... -free motorcycle parking just down the road Booked a twin room got a double, problem was resolved straight away. Stayed in the Montipelier Room on the second Floor, nice enough but the toilet would make a rediculous noise every 30 seconds or so and kept me up...needs to be looked at.

The room was very well presented, clean but basic. Athough some of the retro features ie furniture, bed etc were a nice touch, it may not be to everyone's taste. The important thing was it provided a good nights sleep, it was quiet and we were undisturbed. The decor was a bit drab and needed redoing ie skirting boards/walls/carpets etc. The most important thing that needs correcting is the ensuite wetroom. At first we were impressed, but when we came to use it, the water was not draining properly and very soon we realised it was leaking through the bathroom door into the bedroom on the carpet leaving a big wet patch. We tried rolling up a towel and placing it inside the door but it did not seem to work. Maybe the shower should have been placed in the right corner(where the basin is) and toilet where shower is.The set up is wrong and pretty soon you will have problems with leaks into floor below and damage to floors. Please get this rectified.

The room had plenty of storage space n came with a gd selection of tea n coffee's We was on the 3rd floor which consisted of 6 flights of narrow stairs to reach, the room had a wet room which was done quite nice but was annoying after someone had a shower cos u got wet feet unless u remembered to put ya shoes on. Not once did we see a single person that owned the hotel on any of the days we were there so any questions we had about taxis or where to go we had to go into shops to find out, locking n unlocking the door was a nightmare cos the lock seemed backwards on the room and having to carry the code for the front door of the hotel was annoying as well as constantly spent ages through out the night checking I hadn't lost it would have been easier to of had a key
