Lifton Hall Hotel is situated just off the A30, around 3 miles from the Devon/Cornwall border. A grade II listed building, the hotel was originally 3 separate cottages that date back to the 16th century, with some interesting additions in the 1850s.
The hotel restaurant and bar serves food every evening, using (where possible) locally sourced fresh produce, simply, yet, deliciously cooked. Prices range from GBP 5 for a bar snack, up to GBP 15 for a main course. A full roast lunch is available on Sundays.
A full English breakfast is served each morning, with a number of healthier options also available.
The hotel can accommodate private functions; meetings, dinners or buffets can be readily arranged.
All of the rooms are individually furnished and decorated. Many rooms have views of the front terrace, with some providing views of Lifton's village church.
Launceston Castle (5 miles / 8 km) - with a rich 1000 year history, this Norman castle offers fantastic views from its motte, and fascinates visitors each year from March through October.
Cotehele (20 miles / 32 km) - this medieval house contains superb collections of textiles, armour and furniture; set in extensive grounds.
Old Mill Herbary (24 miles / 38 km) - located in an idyllic valley setting, with about 5 acres of semi-wild terraced gardens. Woodland walks with several islands and bridges - including the medieval Helland Bridge - alongside the unspoilt River Camel.
By car:
- Leave the M5 (Southbound carriageway) at Junction 31 and join the A30 (keep left).
- After 38 miles (61 km), leave the A30 when you see signs for Liftondown / Lifton / "Lifton Hotels"
- At the end of the slip-road, turn right at the T-junction towards Lifton Village.
- Proceed through Lifton Village past the Church and Post Office and you will see Lifton Hall on your left.
- Turn slowly at the far end of the Hotel to enter the Hotel car park. Parking is free for guests.
