Feather quilts and pillows to melt into. Luxury appointments, and delicious home cooked food. Welcoming, very friendly, happy owners.
Gillian and John could not have done any more to make us feel comfortable during our stay. From producing tea and cake when we arrived to tips on where to go to eat in the evening.
I booked Lime Kiln House B&B after reading the glowing reviews on this website. The place was easy to find and we received a warm welcome from Gillian and John when we arrived. We had fresh coffee and Yorkshire parkin sat in the lounge with a roaring open fire. It was very cosy! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the bed extremely comfortable and the bath was HUGE. The shower was very powerful too. We could see Castle Howard from the bedroom window too. Molton Brown products on the bathroom were a lovely touch as were the chocolates and shortbread on the tea tray in the bedroom. The breakfast the next morning was beautiful, and I cannot fault anything. I highly recommend staying at Lime Kiln House B&B.
Friendly, Peaceful and excellent Breakfast
Clean, good bed and interesting owners to talk to
John and Gillian were superb hosts. After a long journey we were shown into a warm sitting room with a blazing log fire and a tray of tea...heaven! Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing...fresh fruits, great coffee and local produce cooked to perfection.Thank you both, we hope to return in 2015!
So comfortable, warm and friendly. The breakfast was absolutely amazing.
Struggling to think of anything really.
Gillian and John were really friendly and helpful but without being intrusive or pushy - a really difficult balance to get right but they were great. Room was lovely and well set up, and the bathroom was enormous. Sitting room with the open fire (and decidedly above-average book selection...) was perfect for early evening before going out for dinner.
Fantastic setting, beautiful house and lovely people. Would recommend to anyone
Our hosts were welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, but we're not intrusive. The room was very comfortable, with lovely views and a luxurious bathroom. Breakfast was delicious! We felt our stay was excellent value for money.
nothing not to like!
The hospitality was amazing. Lime Kiln Farm hosts have thought of everything! from the tea tray to the fluff remover which came in handy for my husbands suit he was wearing to the wedding we were attending at Castle Howard. The breakfast is so relaxed and delicious. Gillian and John are fantastic hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Welcome, bedroom and lounge, quiet location, but overlooking Castle Howard .. A pleasure
Everything was fabulous, great accommodation, great location, great breakfast would highly recommend this B and B.
Huge bath Fantastic breakfast Beautiful decor Great hosts Dogs allowed
Gillian and John were a thoroughly friendly couple who provided a wealth of knowledge on the local area. No hesitation in recommending a stay at Lime Kiln.
Nothing negative to say
The most important thing are the wonderful hosts - Gillian and John were so lovely, forthcoming and helpful throughout the stay! The house and gardens are beautiful as was the room and the breakfast was delicious. The area is very quiet and beautiful and invites to slow down from everyday hectic.
At first i didnt like the fact that our room was not an en suit, (though there is one available in the B and B). The bathroom we used was for our private use and was only two steps across the landing. It actually wasn't that much of an issue as i thought it would be and it certainly wouldn't put me off going again.
Very old and sweet English setting, you do need a car as a bit remote otherwise. The B and B owners were very friendly and hospitable. It was a really pleasurable stay.
Own bathroom/shower attached to bedroom. Massive comfortable bed. Wi-fi available and easy to get on, excellent breakfast to set you up for the day. Very friendly hosts. Many thanks.
Liked everything about Lime Kiln House and wouldn't hesitate to stay again, in fact we are going back again in two weeks time. Would highly recommend at least a weekend and longer if possible. Breakfasts are fantastic.
Nothing - except having to go home!
We had a fantastic 4 nights taking up both rooms at this B&B. Gillian and John were wonderfully welcoming and offer just that little bit extra on all fronts from the really superb breakfasts to providing fire wood in the sitting room and first class toiletries in the bathroom. Location is fantastic too, a short drive to York but on the East side so access to coast is easy. Very quiet village on doorstep to Castle Howard. Just sorry we couldn't stay longer.
beautiful setting, lovely people to greet us when we got there genuinely interested in our plans for the day and how our previous day was couldn't fault any of this wonderful place.
no wi fi but so what ..
the owner were very nice & very help full.the english breakfast was excellent & a great start to the day .
Everything about the location and the accommodation
Friendly and flexible owners; nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Excellent breakfasts with plenty of choice and a lovely view from our bedroom window. We would recommend it to anybody.
