We had a very large and comfortable bedroom and a large modern shower room (no 55) with a lovely view .The weather was appalling! We ate in the Lounge Bar and were surprised by the quality of the food! and the very reasonable prices We would definately stay here again and hope for better weather next time!

Lovely location. Room cold, had to ask for central heating to be turned on twice. Bed very uncomfortable. Shower not very efficient & no anti-slip measures.

the room service is very nice. staff is very helpful. they helped us to remain one more night stay with the same rate we booked which was really helpful. what i want to mention is their facility in wash room and kitchen, they have all basic stuff you need that you do not need to prepare wash liqude or basic kitchen salt or suger. they are all ready to use in their place. the department location is central and easy to the castle and old town. i will come again to the hotel.

We were the lucky one and we had a famous sight - our children had sight on the older part of the hotel. The hoptel is not so far away from Bath, but you need a car. Our beds had been well. The beds of the children were really old ones , very hard. The beds were very old and hard, lot of noise from the climatic outside. Noisy hotel.

Location of the hotel with nice views over the countryside. This hotel is in a poor state, and in need of complete redecoration.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the hotel is very picturesque, with a nice cosy feel to the place. The hotel lacks facilities and reception area is so small that when we arrived we thought it was the cloakroom. We were disappointed with the bar area as there was a wedding taking place that day and evening and we felt we would have been intruding if we had gone into the bar area as it was full of wedding guests. Unfortunately for us we felt like outsiders as the wedding party seemed to overtake the lobby/bar area.

The location is superb, the hotel is warm and welcoming. Breakfast is wonderful. The only down side is that the decor is a little tired in the bedroom, but it adds to the charactor.

Excellent location for a quiet relaxing break, yet only 15minutes from Bath. Could be difficult to find without the aid of sattellite navigation due to its remoteness. Excellent evening bar snacks and a wonderful full English Breakfast. Would definately return.

It's location was great. So close to Bath and yet out in the quite of the countryside. Two things stand out. The lighting in the dinning room made it very dark without any welcome, warmth or character. In fact it is a very depressing room altogether. And the breakfast was not brilliant

Fantastic scenery, lovely old building, a certain charm, though people who are not fans of "Fawlty Towers" may not see it..!! Its a bit run down and shabby, quite dated in its decor...the lift had an artex ceiling..!! But for the price what do you expect. Oh !! and we did not rate the Hop Pole pub, which is just outside the gates of the hotel...the food was very average

“Comfortable clean rooms, peaceful ambience, very customer focussed and competent staff. Breakfast was just as previous visitors have decribed, a good selection to please most people and on a par with upmarket hotels. Car parking although £10 a day for the service is worth it in Bath. Location for city centre walking is excellent.” Michael, Wynyard |
