We had a very large and comfortable bedroom and a large modern shower room (no 55) with a lovely view .The weather was appalling! We ate in the Lounge Bar and were surprised by the quality of the food! and the very reasonable prices We would definately stay here again and hope for better weather next time!

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the hotel is very picturesque, with a nice cosy feel to the place. The hotel lacks facilities and reception area is so small that when we arrived we thought it was the cloakroom. We were disappointed with the bar area as there was a wedding taking place that day and evening and we felt we would have been intruding if we had gone into the bar area as it was full of wedding guests. Unfortunately for us we felt like outsiders as the wedding party seemed to overtake the lobby/bar area.

The location is superb, the hotel is warm and welcoming. Breakfast is wonderful. The only down side is that the decor is a little tired in the bedroom, but it adds to the charactor.

the room service is very nice. staff is very helpful. they helped us to remain one more night stay with the same rate we booked which was really helpful. what i want to mention is their facility in wash room and kitchen, they have all basic stuff you need that you do not need to prepare wash liqude or basic kitchen salt or suger. they are all ready to use in their place. the department location is central and easy to the castle and old town. i will come again to the hotel.

We were the lucky one and we had a famous sight - our children had sight on the older part of the hotel. The hoptel is not so far away from Bath, but you need a car. Our beds had been well. The beds of the children were really old ones , very hard. The beds were very old and hard, lot of noise from the climatic outside. Noisy hotel.

The hotel was in a lovely location quite near to Bath. Impressive buildiung from the outside but not quite as impressive inside. A centralo heating system that could do with a complete overhaul. I know this is an old building but I live in a house that is over 250 years old and it is still possible to have a good working system (actually in some ways it is easier because the thick walls keep the property at a more constant temperature).

It is a lovely building in beautiful surroundings, very friendly reception staff. The reception staff went out of their way to help us with regards to parking on the Sunday evening when a Wedding was being held at the hotel. Such a shame that the heating was random - we had to sleep with the window open as the heating came on at random times. Not to mention the clanging radiator in the room. There was a large wedding on the Sunday evening , we felt a little out of place, and actually in the way of the wedding. We felt we couldn't use the bar area and even the carpark was full to the extreme - to point that we were parked in and had to go and search through numerous wedding guests to find out who's car it was! It would have been nice to be pre-warned about the wedding when we booked.

Needs to think more about paying guests other than wedding parties. A separate area for guests other than wedding party would be great. Not everyone wants to go to the hop pole , especially in cold weather.

The hotel was pretty from the outside, thats about it. Sadly a let down, visited bath for a lovely weekend away, the reception was unmaned and the receptionist wasnt interested in explaining what the hote had to offer, the bedroom was very cold. The heating went off at 8pm and didnt come back on at all even before leaving the next day. Luckily the bed was comfy and we managed to hide under the duvet. We could see our breath in the room it was -2deg out side. The rooms all looks a little dated for todays standards. Staff were in a rush to get rid of everyone for a wedding fair, which traders started arriving at 7am. We were not really felt to be welcome. We were asked to check out at 10am on a sunday and was told breakfast was from 7am to 9am, very basic, dont bother go to mcdonalds. Beware of the location it is 6 miles out of bath, 10 mins no trafiic or 30 mins with traffic, taxi fare £12 each way before 12 midnight. Your money is better spent staying in the city. Sadly not a best western more of a budget western. Obviously why rooms are cheap. Need to do better! We would not reccomend.

“Comfortable clean rooms, peaceful ambience, very customer focussed and competent staff. Breakfast was just as previous visitors have decribed, a good selection to please most people and on a par with upmarket hotels. Car parking although £10 a day for the service is worth it in Bath. Location for city centre walking is excellent.” Michael, Wynyard |
