Interesting old style family run hotel. This is far removed from the chain style homogenised boutique boho hotels that you find all over the place nowadays. Old fashioned but not stuffy. The same family have owned and run it for decades which gives the place a warm homely feel.
Service at dinner was a little rushed and over formal but that is a very small criticism because my lamb was one of the best meals I had during our stay at the lakes
Fantastic friendly staff, in a beautiful hotel, perfect in every way!!
Friendly greeting and very helpful advice on the area, complete with maps. A very peaceful setting with extensive grounds to walk. Exceptional quality of service in a home with a history.
the professionalism of the business owners; the efficiency of housekeeping staff (they would clean your room while you were having your dinner; how thoughtful is that!!!); I liked the wine list; the food was excellent
if I had to find something that I didn't like, my soup was a bit cold. that's all.
The family owners go out of their way to make every day a delight.
That we couldn't stay longer.
The setting and comfort of the room. The food was delicious .
The Hotel, location, staff, and food are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. This was our first visit but most of the people we spoke to had been back time after time.
Decor in rooms Breakfast Friendliness
Me and my wife love everthing about this house
Had to leave
Great view Spacious room Friendly staff
Decor is outdated ,, sofas and chairs must be renewed
Excellent accommodation and staff, good breakfast and beautiful surrounds.
A bit far out of Windermere, more ideal with a car but may need to taxi if you don't have one
Staff went above and beyond. Beautiful house in beautiful grounds. Youve got to try the afternoon tea!
Theres nothing to dislike!
The hotel was very well positioned for Bowness. There were good views of Lake Windemere. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very well managed, with friendly and very efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff took a genuine interest in you, and there was a very warm welcome. The food was very good, and was competently served. It represented excellent value for money, and I would certainly recommend this hotel.
The shower was small and the shower unit was aged. Very small gripe indeed when compared to the overall stay.
We have been there as a small family and we had a great time ..we would recommend this hotel to any couple who want a quiet place to stay in the lake district .
We had to take a taxi as it was quite difficult to walk to the village with a young child ..it took 5min to bowness.. A nother small negative was the slow wifi
Everything, staff, location, cleanliness, food, For a mature couple looking for a weekend away there is no other place I would recommend. It is a family run hotel and the mother must be very proud of her 3 daughters that work hard to give excellent service. The hotel is immaculate.
A bit too quiet in the evening. Would not recommend this hotel to young families or anyone looking for a bit of night life .
Some of the staff were friendly, breakfast was delicious, room very cosy
We were limited at dinner due to having a 1 year old who couldn't enter the restaurant
Everything about this hotel - we could not have found a more relaxed and friendly hotel with very caring Management and Staff.
the lovely lake view room and the fantastic breakfast.
the fact that we had to go home'
From the moment we arrived, the Kennedy clan and their team made us feel so welcome. We had to have different rooms for each of the 2 nights we stayed, but everything was moved for us while we were out. Breakfasts and dinners were of a very high standard - and Mum's marmalade deserves a special mention!
Having to leave!
Location and surroundings And staff
There is no room service
We liked every thing the staff and owners were so helpful. The view stunning . Nothing to not like .
There was nothing we did not like
Everything was perfect!
We loved the peaceful setting, the view of the lake from our bedroom window was fantastic. Dinner and breakfast were very enjoyable. The owner and staff made us feel very welcome.
Can't think of anything, we really enjoyed our stay.
