The property's link to Beatrix Potter
The property is up a private road which could be sign posted a bit better
Relaxed atmosphere log fire in lounge beautiful grounds and views
very small portions at a ridiculous price
Bedroom space and the seating area overlooking Lake Windermere. The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant, professional and attentive.
Limited toliletries, and biscuits needed to ask for more. It would of been nice to have had 2 of everything as we were a couple there for 3 days. Saying that as soon as we requested more shower gel, it was brought to our room very quickly.
enjoyed our stay at the hotel. everything was just as we expected, would have liked to have stayed longer and checked out the grounds of the hotel, maybe next time.
the food was excellent. the staff are warm and welcoming. the view sublime.
the only thing for use was the bed was to soft. if you like a soft bed this is for you.
Location Service Comfort Staff Room and Facilities
The location is nice, trees and mature garden, set on the hill. the hotel decor, comfortable and nicely furnished. Lovely afternoon tea and very good breakfast. The staff are very polite and attentive and there are plenty of them at breakfast. It is a comfortable hotel in an ideal position.
The fact that we had a room for less able people, the fittings in the bathroom were a bit odd, handles everywhere, but the room itself was nice and comfortable. The people in the next room did have the tv on all night, but it was sorted out by reception. We requested that they turned it down and it was done.
Food was great, staff were really friendly, and the grounds of the hotel were stunning. Great place for a short break or Weekend stay. We honeymooned there in 1989, so decided to go back for a look for our Silver wedding. We won't wait 25 years to go back again, it was wonderful.
My room over looked the Car Park rather than the Grounds - but it didn't detract from my stay.
The wonderful welcome from Lizzie at reception. She understood young children and had them eating out of her hand
The atmosphere was a bit stuffy in the Dining Room. That made it difficult to relax
Room was perfect had an amazing view. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was lovely.
Bowness itself there were a lot of hen & stag parties. If you plan on eating out book well in advance!
The hotel is very smart and the lounge areas are cosy and beautifully decorated with heather tones and woolly tartans - an ideal place to relax with pre-dinner drinks. The restaurant is excellent, and the bed was turned down at night which was a nice touch. The staff were very helpful and polite and knowledgeable about the local area.
The Location and grounds are lovely. The food was very good quality and worth the money.
A bit more attention to detail in rooms. Eg better quality bedding, pillows
Old world charm. Lovely setting.
No lift. No help with bags to 3rd floor room. Room quite small and in the eaves. Restaurant expensive and not to our taste so did not use. I can see why others like this hotel but it wasn't for us.
Excellent service with peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. An ideal setting for the finish to our ruby wedding anniversary holiday at the Italian lakes.
Only having a 2 night break. We would have much preferred a longer stay. Maybe next time.
Some of the staff were very kind and helpful.
It is a lovely house to stay in with lots of information about Beatrix Potter's residency. The food was of a very high standard and the dining room staff were very efficient and amenable.
The welcome was very brusque as if the reception staff were too busy. The pool was very disappointing and the changing rooms poorly designed. In a unisex changing room the two very small showers should not have a thin curtain in front of them - they should have a door!
in a quiet part of the hotel, didn't hear the other guests. beautiful grounds excellent and friendly staff
room needed re decorating! whirl pool bath didn't work
Overpriced. No wifi in rooms as stated online.
Staff were great. Food fantastic Lake view from room in the roof was wonderful
Internet not up to scratch.Advertised as available in all rooms.Comes and goes and you need to find a spot in the room where it will work
The house is pretty lovely
Three rooms booked, two were lovely the third a totally different standard for a £10 difference. We would not allow our mother to stay in this room as she was a single having just lost our father. Second class citizen because you're widowed, not good. No vegetarian option for dinner, very small portions served when after a full days travelling was not satisfactory. The key to our room did not work which caused distress and spare key had to be used. When offered coffee after dinner hotel only had sour milk and had to go shopping for fresh. Lovely venue - poorly managed.
Morning receptionist had a huge personality and was very helpful and friendly .
Children's meal pizza was a piece of French bread with tomatoe puree and a slice of cheese on the top.it was not eaten. My grand daughter did not wish me to complain at the time . We were booked into the library at 6.30 and had to ask when we would be served.the meal with two children finished just before 8.30 past the 3 year olds bedtime.
Staff location parking hotel all ex excellent.
Food overpriced an very poor what their was of it. Glasses a disgrace half pint glass with markings to serve my wife a g and t. Breakfast poor. Nosalt in the salt cellar. Wine list limited. Little attention to detail if any . someone needs to review food and drink s. No managers or assistant managers visible during stay.1
Beautiful grounds. Very lovely hotel. Excellent tea and breakfast.
Rooms booked through booking.com are the worst in the hotel.
