It was beautiful! Exactly what you would want a cottage to be!
The grounds are lovely and its nice to have a swimming pool. Lots to do in the area. We would recommend the Zip Wire in Chepstow.
We booked breakfast for the Sunday but found it to be quite cold
everything especially Breakfast
The final approach from the upper chepstowe rd.!!! The Main Entrance to the hotel drive (Stowe Rd.) is essential.
Beautiful tranquil country setting. Lovely garden walks and friendly helpful staff. If I got married again I would honeymoon here!
location area swimming pool room
friendly helpful staff lovely food great location amenities first rate
fire alarm at 1 am
We liked that it was quiet & tranquil. The lodge (cabin) we had was well appointed & ideal with a teenage son in tow (probably a bit too quiet for several!). The swimming pool was lovely & provided some entertainment for said son. Helpful & pleasant staff. We loved the peace - this would definitely NOT suit a stag or hen party! Location beautiful & well sited for visits further afield.
A minor thing...didn't like looking at a row of cars in front of the lodges, however, the alternative would probably mean parking well away from the accommodation. Don't think it can be remedied - probably should have been thought of when planning.
The staff are so helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble.
Comfortable, friendly staff, clean
Room very small, noisey cleaners at 7am
Beautiful location and grounds, excellent facilities and friendly staff
Lovely old building Peaceful location Lovely indoor heated swimming pool Helpful and friendly staff
Rooms are a little dated, and need redecorating as wallpaper coming off, etc Takes a long time to get hot water from taps/bath, but is fine when it comes
Lovely hotel in peaceful and pleasant surroundings and a good place from which to explore the area. Very nice fresh breakfast too.
I could hear rain passing through an integral drain (room15) all night therefore didn't sleep well at all.
The location was beautiful, and the grounds very nice. Staff very pleasant Breakfast very nice and plenty of
The upstairs bedroom in the rafters was cramped and had mould on the ceiling... There was no phone signal (not the fault of the hotel) but no wifi provided... No lift to the top bedroom floor which made things harder with hound children and lots of bags with cramped stairways leading to a cramped mouldy room... Swimming pool was unstaffed
Location, grounds and access were all great. The room and bathroom were fantastic and the price couldn't be beat withing 100 miles.
Would have been better if we had included breakfast.
Style, comfort, location. I didn't stay long enough to have experience with the staff.
This was the perfect little hideaway. The staff was friendly and accommodating and while it was hot they went out of their way to find us a fan to cool us off for a great night sleep. Lovely gardens and surroundings, comfortable beds, food was plenty, and other guests friendly and fun. I enjoyed the fellowship dinner and hope when I return to join in more of the other activities offered at the lovely home. Thanks!
Beautiful gardens in a quiet location, ample swimming pool great for tots. The staff we're lovely and made us feel really welcome.
There we're a lot of over priced things ie kids breakfast was a fiver and was Buffett style, my kids are young still so 1 sausage and a few beans doesn't warrant a fiver. swimming nappies were a pound each and a bottle of wine was £17.50. So my advice would be to take some supplies where possible.
Great room for a family Swimming pool great for kids Good breakfast
Swimming pool - great size and good size children's pool also suitable for young children learning to swim Detached bungalow - great size and very comfortable
The drive home
We stayed in room 14 which I think has been saved for booking.com. The bathroom was just a cupboard which had paint flaking of the ceiling. There is no bar you have to ask for alcohol from behind the reception, cafe. Staff did not tell us how to get to our room or help with our luggage. This is a Christian hotel so unless you want to have your breakfast while listening to hymns then this may not be the place to stay. At the end of our stay we were not even asked if we enjoyed it. I was even thinking of leaving after the 1st night and would of if I could have had some of my money back.
The location was close to where we wanted to be & so useful for taxis for one night. The grounds were superb
Bed too hard, TV poor, generally gave the impression of being frayed round the edges. Didn't realise it was a Christian establishment. Compared to the previous B & B we'd stayed at, it was expensive. Would not stay there again.
Indoor Pool was brill for the kids!
Nothing couldn't really fault it
Nice quiet location Lovely food but didn't realise you had to 'book' with them if you wanted an evening meal. room was clean and comfortable for a family of 5
Set in beautiful gardens in the gorgeous Wye Valley, it could not be better. The indoor pool was very clean and warm, and almost empty while we were there. We slept in the rooms in the roof, which were still fairly large and comfortable. We got back from the theatre in Cardiff on the first night just before midnight, and all the lights in the room fused. The lady in reception was helpful and had the lights on again in ten minutes.
