Lovely grounds and beautiful building, the hot breakfast was not great the sausages were low quality. Wifi is only at the reception and wired internet cost £5. Babies are advertised as free however there is a £5 charge for the cot revealed after booking which is not fair.
Wine was nice
no hot water in morning , and no bar licence .
Brilliant location for a quiet weekend, everything clean and good quality in the well equipped lodge. House and grounds super. Plenty to do and see in the area. Staff chatty and helpful. Good supply of local area information..
Bit isolated for a long stay, didn't appreciate the suggestion from staff that 'we could talk to each other' during their attempt to get the TV working. It was delivered in a joking way and not meant as insulting, but, we had teenagers with us and the TV is after all, an advertised facility, which the staff admitted 'frequently doesn't work'
All was good apart from food
The restaurant food
It was a family friendly inviroment .set in a fantastic peaceful location great as a base for exploring. A short drive from Tintern & Llandogo one way.Monmouth is also not far away OK for self catering also in the chalets.a fabulous 15m pool. I would stay here again
No bar .but it is a methodist owned and run establishmen not completely alcohol free.there are bottled beers and wines available
Country Location, gardens, pitch and putt, small waterfall.
Service was not great, limited wifi in the room, breakfast service was poor.
Jane the manageress was friendly and accommodating and very kind. She helped us find our way when we were lost arriving late. She alone expressed concern that we could not eat as the restaurant was fully booked. The gardens were stunning. The pool was very good.
Other staff did not seem very engaged or smiley. They were proficient but not enthusiastic. Very strong smell of damp near our room.
Loved the location, the grounds, the Manor, the swimming pool. Staff quite helpful and friendly. Quiet and peaceful setting.
Decor of room was awful. Very basic room. Did not match the grandeur of the setting and the house itself. No breakfast included and charged at £8 something. Awful smell at the bottom of the stairs as one goes up to the rooms.
Location, food, bed
Room 15 avoid, poor decor, small. Too pricey for room type and no inclusive breakfast..!
Good size swimming pool, lovely location. Mostly very friendly staff.
Could have been cleaner. Staff were rude at breakfast, they are obviously desperate to be out of the door at 9.30, but serving breakfast until 9.30 means you can sit down until 9.30, not that anyone arriving after 9 can be ignored and snapped at!
The House and surrounding gardens are truly beautiful. The receptionist was extremely helpful and accommodating.
The food was truly awful. The breakfast staff were incredibly rude (although the breakfast food was much better than the dinner the night before). The 10am check out is unreasonable, and £15 additional to check out late is a bit silly.
I liked the peaceful setting and the tranquility inside the house. The Breakfast was excellent and adequately provided my dietary requirements.Lots of places of interest in the surrounding area.
TV was difficult to work, slow to respond.
Stunning location. Helpful and friendly staff who were polite and curteous on the whole. We enjoyed the swimming pool which was well equiped and fairly large. Towels were provided which was an added bonus. Resonably priced drinks. A fantastic building stunningly preserved and meticulous house keeping make this a really wonderful place to stay wether you are young or older.
Wasnt all that keen on the man at reception, he cut me off mid sentance and was rude enough for the female member of staff to interject. All other staff were very kind but the sharp manner of I presume, the manager left a lot tobe deired however this was offset by the wonderful waiting staff. Only other possible bad point was the cooked breakfast which was served from a trolley and was of questionable quality served on a tiny plate. Although again, offset by the plentiful coffee, cereals, fruit and juice.
Swimming pool and grounds were excellent, loved the escape and peace.
Only fault was the rather flat pillows!!!
Beautiful old country house in well kept grounds - but 20 minutes windy drive from Chepstow. Excellent breakfast.
It is not a conventional "hotel". Essentially, a Christian Conference centre who sell "spare" rooms to other travellers. Thus the lounge is largely taken over by small groups from different churches engaged in discussions or treasure hunts or similar activities of their own. The main evening meal is a "fellowship" meal. Expecting a pleasant evening in a convivial country house hotel, we drove to Chepstow instead - which was fine - but not what we expected.

The food and service from Staff
It was beautiful! Exactly what you would want a cottage to be!
The grounds are lovely and its nice to have a swimming pool. Lots to do in the area. We would recommend the Zip Wire in Chepstow.
We booked breakfast for the Sunday but found it to be quite cold
everything especially Breakfast
The final approach from the upper chepstowe rd.!!! The Main Entrance to the hotel drive (Stowe Rd.) is essential.
Beautiful tranquil country setting. Lovely garden walks and friendly helpful staff. If I got married again I would honeymoon here!
location area swimming pool room
friendly helpful staff lovely food great location amenities first rate
fire alarm at 1 am
We liked that it was quiet & tranquil. The lodge (cabin) we had was well appointed & ideal with a teenage son in tow (probably a bit too quiet for several!). The swimming pool was lovely & provided some entertainment for said son. Helpful & pleasant staff. We loved the peace - this would definitely NOT suit a stag or hen party! Location beautiful & well sited for visits further afield.
A minor thing...didn't like looking at a row of cars in front of the lodges, however, the alternative would probably mean parking well away from the accommodation. Don't think it can be remedied - probably should have been thought of when planning.
