Very good swimming pool Good for racing & golf weekend
I booked five rooms (we were attending a family wedding at Hever Castle) so I needed to check arrangement but hotel staff wouldn't discuss my booking when I rang - said I had to go through booking .com (which I did but got someone who couldn't speak English!) Restaurant couldn't cope with the number of people
Very happy with the hotel, one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in! The bar food was lovely, albeit the menu was limited.
£8.50 - £9.00 for a 250ml glass of wine is outrageous, I could buy two bottles in a supermarket for that.
Good sized room lovely pool very helpful and courteous male member of staff on front desk
Very rude female member of staff on front desk
Hotel staff were all friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Food in the restaurant was lovely and breakfast offered a great selection. Rooms were spacious and very clean, am returning for the NYE ball it was so good.
Where do I start. From the onset my stay was appalling. After waiting at check in for ages I was finally called to the check in. There was no apology for the wait. I then felt like I didn't have her full attention just felt rushed. The room itself was Ok just felt dark and drab. We wanted an early night as my partner was taking part in a half iron man the following day unfortunately that was not to be the bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on in my life to the point that my partner had to sleep in the chair just to get a few hours before his race. At checkout I made it clear I hadn't had a good night. May as well have not bothered as no apology or concern received. More interested in getting coffees for another guest. £109 for my partner to sleep in a chair and no sleep for me. Appalling what can I say. Never again.
The price of wine
The setting and facilities - spa and pool great - staff very helpful - value for money
drinks very dear expecially wine!! not able to book treatments would recommend advance bookings so not to be disappointed.
Sadly I had fall whilst their which was no fault of the hotel. the staff were most helpful and waited with me until the Ambulance came and could not have been more helpful
I missed the meeting I was going to
Leisure centre, small pool but fortunately empty late evening, view from room of racecourse
Could not turn off air conditioning, rooms fully booked so could not offer another room - did not sleep, requested quiet room, corridor quiet, room noisy, could not sleep, staff gave bottle of wine as gesture. Also last out pool, while changing with another guest - a young girl, a male cleaner walks in! And out quickly. Staff turned off steam room etc before 9 and you are expected to leave pool before 9
Outlook from room, staff, spa /pool,car parking, comfort and style of accommodation. Very acceptable breakfasts.
Limited menu for dinner, some good items but some not so good. An area for improvement as lags behind rest of experience.
Very nice room, large, clean and quiet. Sky TV a plus. Good gym facilities.
The restaurant - where should I start. Whilst waiting to be seated I had observed that it was a very large room, perhaps about 15% occupied. On being seated I was told that as they were very busy, (a table of eight had just arrived!! I know for a fact they had been there 20-30 minutes) and there would be a 20 minute wait. I asked how long the wait would be if the restaurant was busy? The sparkling mineral water arrived after a small delay, piping warm from a cupboard in the restaurant, no offer of ice and no comment. Starter of prawn tempura was 3 lonely items surrounded by plenty of lettuce. Grilled salmon was hidden under a mountain of lettuce (perhaps they are growing the stuff on the racecourse) and clearly cold salad on warm fish and vegetables must be considered the norm. Open plan kitchen allows the diner to have the accompaniment of 'service' being shouted throughout the meal, with increasing volume as the staff don't respond within the first millisecond. It might just be me, but I prefer to see the restaurant staff wearing uniforms which actually fit ( cuffs over the knuckles, trousers trailing on the floor) and looking neat and tidy. If you are paying motorway service station prices for your meal, does it doesn't mean you should excpect the same quality of food/service, especially in a hotel of this standard?
Could not believe we were given the same room that somebody was already in
relaxed location and modern setting ...the double beds are really excellent.
nothing deserving a negative comment
Clean, quiet, good quality sleep
Far too expensive for a balcony room, not enough coffee in the room
Wonderful location, friendly helpful staff, very good food quality (breakfast and dinner).
I inspect this website in great detail when choosing a hotel. I reject even the nicest looking hotels if they don't have a king size bed or similar. It's important to us. We were supposed to have a king size bed here but the room contained two normal double beds. Spoiled what would have been a perfect short stay.
Great location,superb room & bed.Excellent breakfast,good leisure facilities
Swimming pool was rather small, especially for this size hotel. On line photo's are rather deceptive
Hotel location obviously perfect. Room comfortable and clean and particularly liked having a safe in the room as standard as well as the iron & board, plus all spa facilities available and breakfast included in the price - quite unusual. Well done Marriott, Lingfield. Staff absolutely professional and utterly polite considering the moans and groans they were receiving from all areas of service - see dislike box.
Sadly, comprehensive staff deficiency in what appeared to be in all areas on Saturday 9th - race day; full hotel and not enough staff to deal with the number of guests: terrible delays for guests checking in (although not us, it affected all of our group - two checked in room after the racing in order not to miss the start of!) Restaurant/bar staff totally lacking in number considering the full capacity of the hotel but all members of limited staff utterly professional while dealing with the situation.
The room and facilities were comfortable with a view over the racecourse. The bed was very good. Sky sport also much appreciated. The breakfast was good as were the dining room staff and managers.
Over our stay the room was not fully serviced on any day. The bed was made each time however on the first day there was only one clean towel left and a wet towel left by the sink. The second day the new towels had been abandoned on the bed, nothing had been topped up. Most items were brought when we rang however the new coffees never arrived! One day we sorted most supplies by leaving a note! However we then discover the toilet roll was not topped up. This was not on my list! I have never had such poor room service!
Food was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and chef will even cook your eggs any way you want
Had a room overlooking the racecourse which was lovely but when you opened the patio windows the outside railings and surrounding area where very very dirty
Great location. Had a room overlooking the course, so great views. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room had two "double beds" which were a bit small and made the room feel slightly cramped
Rooms were very comfortable, location is great, nice views across race course
Restaurant was overpriced. Staff were stretched across duties, always waiting at bar for service and waiting to be dealt with at reception. Door keys continually failed.
Lovely comfortable bedrooms, and although the bar/lounge area was small in size, it had very comfortable seating to relax.
The number of people using the same lounge/bar area, who were in dressing gowns!! (from the Spa facilities)!! Another room for either would be nicer.
We had a box with friends which was a great way to see the racing and a party afterwards was all really good.
We had travelled from our place of work and our room was not ready at 3:30pm, so we could not freshen up or change, the room was comfortable but I expected much more for £235.00 a night.
the rooms were very comfy clean and modern
