Staff and service was excellent, room was spotless, michelin star food served in restaurant. Location was perfect, overlooking Windermere and only 10 mins walk (slow walk) to the shops at Windermere.

Beautiful location, lovely grounds with a small private Tarn to stroll round. The food was excellent and well presented and served. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. A very comfortable hotel with beautiful views over Windermere, lovely open fire and cosy lounge areas. The staff were sometimes slow to respond to requests, on arrival there was nobody at the reception and it took three rings of the bell on the desk to get a response.

The hotel looks beautiful in spectacular surroundings, the room was comfortable and well designed with a relaxing decor. The breakfast was below par as it was cold and small. The staff failed to enquire about us and our requirements throughout our stay.

I enjoyed the atmosphere at the hotel. Not pretentious in any way just warm and welcoming. The staff couldn't have been more helpful adn pleasant. Plenty of cosy areas to enjoy a drink in or read a book. I will definitely be returning.

Hotel was lovely with great views, staff were all very helpfull and friendly, rooms were a good size and very clean. The hotel restaurant was very expensive at £52 per person, We preferred the lounge menu which was good value but had to be eaten in the lounge and not the restaurant, as we were the only ones to order from this menu we felt very isolated and could not see why both menus could not be served in the restaurant. If you walk into Bouness which takes about 30mins watch out for the steep hills on the way back.

Hillside location with views of Lake Windemere. Room was good sized by English standards and very well-equipped. Would not recommend the "highly rated" restaurant. Portions were very small and food was not properly cooked.

As a couple in our mid 40's we booked a prefered room which was faultless. Dinner in the evening was again excellent, though maybe a little expensive for the quality. We will certainly return to the hotel next time we are in the lakes, we looked to be out of the main town and the location was very good for us. Slightly expensive.

The Hotel reflects an idealic setting for a quite and soothing short stay linked to which it represents the very best of lakeland hotels. The communication between senior staff could be improved as unfortunate errors may seem insignificant to some but they may represent a great anoyance to guests.
