In the heart of central Oxford, The Bocardo is a boutique-style luxury property in the shopping district of George Street, and right above a Jamie Oliver restaurant.
Score from 559 reviews Good
Very hot rooms and breakfast orange was watery.
Friendly staff with prompt service
I found the mattress too soft as I prefer a more solid one. But this is my only criticism.
Very friendly, professional staff.
The room was the worst one we have been in for a best western. The bed was smaller than a double.
Good location for Oxford. Bus service good
Breakfast don't worth the money!
The location of the hotel is very good, nice walk from the Oxford city centre. Size of our room was amazing, great TV channels and nice and clean bathroom.
Iv stayed quite a few times and the rooms I usually stay in are really nice, however this time the room was horrible, the pain was coming off the walls, the room was small felt like I couldnt move around in it.
Had a comfortable nights sleep because the beds are comfortable and big.
Lovely helpful staff , good location , clean and quiet.
the double bed was very small and I reacted to the washing powder they used. Breakfast was expensive for what it was.
The staff were friendly.
No fridge in the room.
We enjoyed not only the wonderful location, but also the friendliness and kindness of the staff, who did everything to ensure that our stay was as pleasant as possible, and the marvelous food. Congratulations to the chef and to the waiters!
But the staff were all new trainees who knew nothing. The Wifi was slow and cut out fairly regularly though just for short periods. Get the breakfast since it's far from anything.
Reasonably priced. Good biscuits and coffe in the room.
Arrived after a long drive to find no parking available. Considering site says no need to book yet I had no park. disappointing. Staff were not helpful and tried to tell me I had to pay for two rooms when I booked one. Coffee was expensive as was breakfast &12.95!!! They know they're the only place nearby so charge a lot. Walk into Oxford was 30mins and staff nor helpful with maps or directions. Noise from room above ours was bad. At all hours including 4am we were woken by loud footsteps and talking. Room 132 was also incredibly hot and we had to turn heater off and open a window.
The bed was comfy and place was clean.
As I was in room 22, a bit noisy
wifi was a nightmare
it's in a quiet and comfy
We stayed in room 32. There was an intermittent very noticeable knocking noise which lasted for about 20-30 seconds at a time but happened constantly throughout our stay and spoilt our sleep. We thought it was some sort of pump in the plumbing. We told the desk staff after the first night but it continued for the rest of our stay. We're staying there again in September. It's a good hotel. Hope they solve the knocking but we'll make sure we're not in room 32.
Everything except the knocking noise in the room
Hard butter at breakfast, and poor choice of (cheap) preserves. Croissant were not fresh as it said on the menu.
Comfortable clean room, helpful staff - although some struggled to understand English - and peaceful location.
Hotel was only two stops from the City Centre therefore it is in an ideal location. It is also in a quiet residential area. Staff were very friendly & helpful.
The hotel is being refurbished in stages, as the smell of paint shows. The staff are also mostly new, with some consequences for the quality of service. And I always dislike hotels that exploit their position away from the centre of towns to charge you an extortionate additional price for breakfast, knowing that there's nowhere else nearby.
Good location; a bit of a walk out from town, but not too far. Facilities in principle fine.
Just better pillows please
I could hear people walking across the floor in the room above which woke me earlier than I would of liked and the bathroom only had a shower.
I picked this hotel on price and because it had free parking and was 30mins walking distance from the centre of oxford. The room was recently refurbished and was perfectly adequate.
Couldn't access wifi Car park was fairly small and we had to leave a car on the street (although hotel did give you a permit for this)
Good size room
Shower door wouldn't stay shut. Mentioned it to reception before I left. Wasn't a major issue just a bit frustrating.
Very quiet. Room was spacious and very clean.
Nice big towels, lovely coffee and biscuits
ask to be on the top floor or you'll hear nothing but bad floorboards and footsteps.
I complained about the noise from upstairs (3am) and the next day we did get a room change to the top floor. So much better!!!
could have done with faster wifi
The left mints and lip balm was a lovely touch
poor wifi and room that hadn't been pre-heated
Extremely helpful receptionist
The noise , due to very thin floors, from room above us was bad. The radiator could not be turned down and was blazing hot!
The hotel and room was very clean.
