This enchanting, 15th-century coaching inn is adjacent to the river in the heart of historic Bradford on Avon. It has an excellent reputation for good food and great hospitality.
Score from 153 reviews Good
A very well placed venue with excellent facilities at a great price. bed was very comfortable and the food was well cooked and generous. Definitely be back!
the price - it was overinflated for what I received - the description of the place did not match what I arrived to - I was told off for treating the place like a hotel when I asked if I could have my breakfast as a take away or slightly earlier as I had to be in bath for work at 8am - I ended up being late for work both days because they could not accommodate my request and the breakfast was included in the overinflated charge so I would not leave without it - luckily I had my own lunchbox which I tipped my breakfast into as soon as it was cooked so I could get out - it felt all a bit silly and extreme, I did not think my request was out of order and had their rules about breakfast been clearer on the booking site I would not have ever booked to stay there - also it seems that they feel they can support their charge as the weekend I stayed it was the Christmas market in Bath - which just made me feel ripped off in terms of value for money - the bathroom was not up to a standard that justified my nightly rate.
Very frendly and nice and clean , would use again
Had fish and chips , fish not very nice , cheap Iceland fish
Basic room but very comfortable Evening meal was good value, hot and well presented. Excellent breakfast
Very friendly staff, homely environment, the amazingly spacious bedroom, with 3 windows turned to the street; pub downstairs and free breakfast, always a plus. The ecological concern about misuse of resources (towels) was a nice touch, so was the quality of the shower gel.
i am 6 ft tall. The shower seemed a bit small for me, however aren't they all...
Friendly, helpful staff, excellent breakfast, good beer.
it was a lovely stay, friendly people and thw breakfast was supper, would definitely stay again
breakfast was good and a variety of options to choose from.
The twin beds didn't have headboards so that wasn't very good for sitting up in bed and resting back. The window was stuck open only an inch but on a cold night it felt cold.the hot radiator did help though. We should have asked to have it closed by the owners.
Excellent breakfast! Clean bedroom.
The room was on the road side and very noisy.
Very clean rooms with own bathroom - you don't always get this at this price. Breakfast was excellent
It is a personal thing but I don't agree with dogs being allowed in pubs, especially where people are eating. The pub didn't open until 5.00pm
Great owner and staff - really friendly and made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived by everyone there. King room was well equipped and comfortable, and great breakfasts.
Very little to not like...needs a more directional shower head but thats minor...lovely place
The customers in the bar
The whole premises was in a state of neglet. carpets badly worn.Room was in need of a major refurbish fittings in the bathroom were hanging of the wall, furniture was old tatty and dirty, the double glazing had water between the panes and were filthy.....there is not enough time to spend listing everything one could say about this hotel. our experience did not match any of the customer revues on Booking . com.
service and food
nothing to dislike
food - excellent service - excellent
the quilt cover was too small so felt drafty.
Friendly service Comfortable bed Great breakfast Good value
Decor a little tired
Bare room, twin beds without headboards looking out on main road with windows that rattle.
good pub food friendly atmosphere amp[le parking
traffic noise (busy junction, heavy goods vehicles
The food was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, and the room and bathroom were immaculate. The towels were a decent thickness and the shower was good.
We had a room with twin beds. Unfortunately, the beds had no headboard and were positioned so that it was not comfortable to sit up and read or watch TV.
Staff very friendly esp denise, great local info, bed comfy, bar food very good and reasonable. Close to Bradford on avon and longleat.
Just needs a bit of TLC
The food was excellent! Service friendly, nothing too much trouble
The rooms Price Dirty carpets Shower
No wifi and poor phone reception
Not one bad work about the Lion and Fiddle. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was excellent. I would definately recommend this hotel to everyone. The breakfast is also very delicious!
