In a peaceful, idyllic setting, the hotel combines the traditional charm and attractive original features of a 19th-century building with the contemporary chic of extensive and luxurious spa...

No suitably positioned mirrors within main bedroom or mirror in bathroom with an electric socket.
Location, staff, food, the list is endless!
Nothing, couldn't fault it!
Being together in peaceful surroundings.
A little disappointed on this occassion. It was my fiancee 50th birthday. There was no champagne in the room as requested. No bottles of water, had to ask the following day. The beds were single pushed together.
The canal side location and the Waterside restaurant - attentive staff and excellent food at reasonable prices. Very pleased to see extensive use of energy saving LED lighting throughout the establishment.
Cracked wash basin in room 119 - unbelievable for a 4 star establishment
Restaurant food and service Location
The staff were friendly and helpful and the choices at breakfast were good. Nice bar areas to sit in and there is a lovely patio area overlooking the canal. We booked an executive room overlooking the canal and watched the long boats go by - very pleasant stay.
The first executive room we were shown was not up to standard at all, but when we asked to be moved we were given a much better and larger room.
Great buffet breakfast. Loved the view of the canal from our room.
Couldn't get wifi working. Very disappointed. Quite noisy on our floor. Could hear noise from room next door.
Great location and setting
Over priced food and bad service in the restaurant a massive let down. Won't go back.
The place was nice and clean, nothing was old like some
The wifi just had so many issues to get on. Would take 30 minutes to find it if it did. We stay 3 different days and same problem.
Food was excellent . Service very good
Waited to be served a drink in the reception bar for quite a while
excellent location, lovely comfortable rooms, lovely breakfast
evening meal was ok, sirloin steak was very tough and chocolate from fondue dessert was very bitter
staff helpful and friendly
we found eating at the hotel was expensive and felt the closure of the pool was a little early for our liking
Spa facilities excellent Setting pretty Overall aspect of the hotel brilliant Breakfast was fantastic
Marks on carpet in the room. Around the top of the cot for my toddler was stained. Decor tired, tiled roof was tatty. Double aspect room with blind on one window therefore unable to make room dark enough. Noisy end of hotel (main road and overlooking beer garden). Could hear the people in the room next room clearly, especially when using the toilet!!
Lovely setting with good facilities to hand. Ease of car parking and easy to find being just off the A5
Wifi reception not good.
The food was fantastic, we had both dinner and breakfast and could not fault quality, quantity or cost.
We had a hen party in the room opposite us and they were very loud late into the night.
The country club & spa facilities. Very clean & good equipment but disappointing that jacuzzi was out of order
I didn't think that the standard of room was 'luxury' which is what I paid for. Toilet flush broken, fan in bathroom didn't work & shower gel not replaced. Heater in bedroom hanging & then fell off the wall, bedding stained, 1 chair between 2 guests & room was small. Balcony tiny, covered in bird muck and had half smoked cigarettes shoved between it and wall. Breakfast on the first morning was poor, no plates, dirty cereal dishes and no yoghurt, scrambled egg or muesli ? Better the second morning.
The restaurant called Nicos was terrible waited 2 hours yes 2hours for food and when it finally arrived it was burnt sent it back went to bed
The location the room and facilities. Hotel food was excellent and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. We both enjoyed the leisure and spa treatments. The whole experience made our holiday very special. We will certainly be going back!!
Just a shame the jacussi was out of order in the leisure area. One other thing which is only a small critiscm is the mirror in our room was positioned too high on the wall so you had to stand up to dry your hair and put on make-up, so you could not use it as a dressing table. Apart from that eeverything else was great.
Swimming facilities and food was good but everything was a bit pricey
The price included use of spa
Great location , friendly staff, good wine and food.
Spa block isn't attached to the hotel, no probs if its a nice day... Hotel is a popular wedding reception venue. If you want a quite evening I'd suggest checking if there's a wedding on that day..
The opportunity to meet up with our daughter and family who had hired a narrowboat on the canal amd were able to moor and have dinner with us at the hotel. Had a really good meal in lovely surroundings
Not being able to access Wifi in our room
layout of hotel and gardens plus availability of health club, all excellent. Very nice confortable room (Nr 233). Staff very helpful.
We had an eve meal in main restaurant, we chose the steak. Very poor quality, not cooked as requested after 2-attempts!!
Pleasant location with walks from the door along the canal path. Nice terrace outside the Waterside Restaurant overlooking the canal. Good facilities at the spa. The staff were charming and helpful.
En-suite wet room flooded when I had a shower, I think due to plug being blocked, (just about managed to prevent water trickling through to the bedroom using every towel I could lay my hands on)! No remote in the room to operate the TV. Walls very thin - could hear everything in the next room.
