We had a super stay. Staff very welcoming. Accomodation first class. Thought the standard of cleanliness exceptional. Would certainly return and recommend. A minor criticism. Variation of the quality of breakfast. Seemed to occur when coaches and weddings were being catered for. When it was fairly quiet ie Monday morning the quality of the hot food was noticibly better.

First impressions of the hotel were excellent, the room was very clean and the location overlooking the canal was excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the waterside restaurant was delicious, the service was also good. The breakfasts were also great with a good selection of food. It was nice to have some of the spa facilities included in the price as well. Would go again but would always request a canal view. I really enjoyed my stay here. I feel that Nico's restaurant let the hotel down, the food was okay however there was shell in the sauce that accompanied the mussels which was a bit off putting. There was a man playing a guitar for the whole evening which would have been enjoyable however he was far too loud and did not have a break, you couldn't hear yourself think never mind speak to other members of the party! If I went again I would not chose to visit this restaurant. The website also does not make it clear that although you pay for bed, breakfast and evening meal you only in fact get a £20 voucher towards your evening meal and you can not use it for drinks.

The setting is lovely, we had a canal view room on ground floor. Really relaxing atmosphere. Gym and swimming pool facilities are outstanding. Breakfast was excellent and served in the conservatory overlooking the canal. There is even a peacock wandering around in the grounds. Only one small thing - wifi in rooms was a bit on and off not a very strong signal.

The peaceful setting and the views. We had a car accident whilst on holiday and the staff were very helpful . We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and did not find the standards as good. It is not a four star hotel in terms of quality of rooms or food. The carpet in our first room was so dirty we had to move roooms. On our third night we were locked out of our room . on our first night the service in the dining area and breakfast next morning was very poor, however this did improve over the next few days. It is still a nice hotel but it is not good value for money and whilst the food is nice it is expensive for what is on offer.

spa world was good. Also breakfast was very nice. Didnt like that there was no fridges in the room. Rooms are small we got upgraded and had to pay extra but room was still small. Also has to walk a min or so to the facities i thought they would be in the same building. The public use the gym and pool etc so not as private as i thought.I wouldn't stay there again.

The accommodation was in a perfect location - extremely comfortable and excellent value for money. We have recommended Lion Quays to friends since our stay. Unfortunately our plans dictated that we could only spend one night but we intend to return to your beautiful hotel having enjoyed the warm atmosphere that was extended to us so much.

Meeting up with family and the general ambiance. The Hotel is one of our favourite's, nothing to dislike about the hotel but do feel the waiting staff in the Waterside Restaurant although very friendly are lacking in experience.

The staff were excellent - John in the residents lounge was superb . The bed was extremely comfy and good water pressure from the shower. There was a wedding reception in one of the function rooms but the sound proofing was excellent and we weren't disturbed by them at all. Even Eugine the peacock didn't disturb us. It is a beautiful setting overlooking the canal - there is an air of tranquility about the place, perfect for relaxing. The swimming pool in the country club was wonderful - I wish I lived near enough to be a member!

having the spa, hotel and cuisine all in the same area there was a wedding on the saturday and i felt that the hotel should have made me aware of this at booking due to the ammount of noise from the disco in the evening. i had travelled from west yorkshire with my husband as newly weds and the music could be heard in our room this went on untill 12.40am. out room was overlooking the conservatory insted we would have been better placed at the other end.carpet stained in the room

Bed was comfortable and large flatscreen tv was nice Chose this hotel because it was a Spa hotel Could have chosen any hotel with a swimming pool at a cheaper rate, as you have to pay a lot extra to use the Spa. The jacuzzi is actually only for four people. The room was very small with no air-conditioning, no fan working in the bathroom and no room service at all is available. Breakfast plates were cold and as there were no fried eggs, by the time they arrived my breakfast had gone cold. No cold milk, just lukewarm jugs on the tables, no sweeteners and dirty cups. You have to leave the accomodation and walk to the pub to eat, and walk outside over to the leisure club.

Why are you serving a hot breakfast on cold plates ? Before we were able to enjoy ours it had gone cold. Without exception, everywhere else we have stayed there has been / is a plate warmer so you are able to savour breakfat and not leave any as it is still warm when you eat the last mouthful without rushing it.

This was booked as a birthday treat for myself, and i have got to say i loved the spa, the staff were so lovely! the hotel and rooms were beautiful!! I feel it was value for money. Apart from a few let downs, i would definetly return. In the room, we had no information sheets regarding the hotel, and also missing items such as a spoon for the tea & also no milk. With the waterside restaurant, we had to wait 40 minutes for starters - then after we complained, we had a complimtentary drink each and then the starters were served, however the main was served literally straight after we had eat it, which wasn't ideal!

The facilities at the hotel were good the pool and spa facilities were good clean and exactly as described on the website Room had no heater in it and it was after 7:30 pm before a portable heater was put in the room to take the chill off the room also we ordered a taxi to take us to a local pub and although this was only 1.1 mile away the fare was £8

Hotel bar needs updating. The difference between the fantastic spa bar and the hotel is huge. I appreciate not all use this bar but on our visit this was a great let down. Staff were all very helpful everywhere.

We loved having the use of the large pool which we used every day, this is one of the reasons we chose the hotel to stay at. We also ate in Nicos every evening and the food was very good, we would recommend it and would stay again.
