In a tranquil setting next to the River Stort, this picturesque converted flour mill and attractive mill owner’s cottage now house accommodations with private bathrooms and a licensed bar and restaurant. In a quiet, peaceful location, Little Hallingbury Mill offers easy access to Cambridge, London and Stansted Airport. The mill is close to highway M11 and the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge train route. Audley End House, Stansted Mountfichet Castle and the Imperial War Museum at Duxford are not far away. The staff can help organize golf, horseback riding, go carting, horse and greyhound racing, microlight flying and coarse fishing. The restaurant offers freshly prepared English food in generous portions at affordable prices. Dishes are made with fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers whenever possible. The bar offers a good selection of wines and an extensive range of British fine ales from a number of the UK's best microbreweries. Hotel Rooms: 21

Little Hallingbury Mill is a unique property in a beautiful spot by the river and canal, right in the countryside yet close to the motorway and Stansted. We have family living in Bishop's Stortford so this was convenient for meeting up with them. The rooms we were allocated were poor, small with tiny portacabin style en suites which was disappointing as we had stayed in nicer rooms previously. It was also disappointing that the bar and restaurant were unavailable for our use as there was a wedding on.

A wonderful experience in a quaint little place. A pleasant stay to complete my tour in England. Enjoyed a nice english breakfast and a good lunch. Great value for money. Warm obliging staff who fixed up a nice little snack just after checking in late in the evening. Away from the hustle & bustle. Conviently close to Stanstead airport. A nice long walk through the country side to the nearby town. Would definately stay here the next time around or recommend it to my friends. At nite, the surrounding area is rather dark. A little too far of the main road or bus route.

Very charming and quiet hotel in a genuine old watermill. Very friendly and assisting staff. Good kitchen and splendid surroundings. Airplane traffic is not too discomforting. Excellent quality/price ratio. Will certainly comme back.

We were made to feel welcome. Check in and check out were efficient. Breakfast was satisfactory. Difficult to find in the dark! Directions on the internet assume you are coming from the m11. We had to phone the hotel to get directions as the hotel is a bit off the beaten track. Hotel very helpful however.

The fact that it is a fully refurbished and occasionally functioning flour mill set in picturesque water meadows on the Herts/Essex border which is conveniently close to Stansted Airport, yet totally surrounded by very beautiful countryside. A fine place to relax, with the twin added benefits for me of real ale and an adjacent marina for narrow boats and other craft from the River Stort. Los of character and friendly helpful people, with an excellent pub menu.

Very friendly staff, who stayed up until I managed to get there from Derby at about midnight, and was happy to provide me with some food before going to bed. Good location for Stansted airport, which is less than 20 minutes drive away. The bed could do with updating, but ok.

The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly but unobtrusive. The breakfast was yummy, the place was conveniently placed near Stansted but in a delightful and quiet country setting. The price was reasonable. Overall, a great stay!

Beautiful countryside setting - immediately wished we were staying longer, and will aim to return. We found Derek and Sonia very kind and welcoming in a nice relaxed, down-to-earth sort of way. Great breakfast too! A lovely place to take breath, slow down and unwind. Delightful Mill buildings and rooms full of individual character and charm, and I soon slept like a log (even though not far from airport and flight path). It is at the end of the lane with footpaths straight out across the fields, scenic views and painted barges on the canal. Many thanks for such a lovely weekend - will be back at the first opportunity! A bit tricky to find as the sign for Mill Lane is only clear from one direction and the lane itself is tiny, so easy to miss, but it's right opposite a pretty village pond. If you need a state-of-the-art power-shower this probably isn't the one for you, but I found the slightly dated, simple facilities more than compensated-for by the pretty setting, sense of history, warm welcome and homely charm.

The owner was really friendly and approachable. Food in the restaurant was good and served promptly. Room was clean and excellent value for money. All in all a very pleasant experience. The driveway down the private road was very narrow and quite scary to drive down. Maybe warn people of this on the booking.

Close to Stansted airport and easy to find. Although we arrived late, the staff were very understanding and helpful. The bar/restaurant looked great, it's a huge shame we didn't have the chance to try it out, but there's always next time! The room was large, warm and comfortable. Excellent value for money.

The surroundings were beautiful and tranquil, the welcome was good, room exceptionally clean and comfortable and all for less than the Travelodge. Add to that a decent, home cooked meal and breakfast, a tv that works and pleasant hospitality and you have the perfect night away from home.

Delightful quiet location. Warm room (very important arriving late on cold December evening) and everything (lights, shower etc) worked perfectly. Friendly welcome and good-value dinner provided despite the fact that the restaurant was shortly due to close. I honestly can't fault this hotel - it fulfilled our needs perfectly and represented extremely good value for money. We shall certainly stay again.

Staff very polite, felt that price paid was excessive for the quality of rooms received Although the rooms were clean ,we were not happy with the toilet/washing facilties in the rooms which could be described as a modular unit that was not easy to use , also they did not smell particularly pleasant . Bed was uncomfortable

The accommodation was clean and very reasonable priced. The Mill itself was very pretty and I would recommend it. See below for -ve's The staff were not very welcoming and barely acknowledge my presence when I checked in. One guest asked for breakfast in their room and was told no as if it was an inconvenience and continued moaning once the phone was put down. Sort out the staff attitude and the place would be 100%, despite what they think, they are there for the guests.

It was exceptionally good value. Not pretentious. The staff were warm and friendly. Although my booked room was found not to have been made up on my arrival at 7.00pm I was upgraded to a better room for the same price. The full English breakfast at £6.50 was stunning value. It was, in the dark, a bit difficult to find being down a one track lane. Found thanks to sat nav.

Nice location..... The shower room was very very small, my husband is around 15 stone (not over large) and had problems sitting on the loo for lack of space also getting out of the shower room as door opened straight onto the bed ...room .badly laid out. Also wooden staircase running up the side of room staff up and down late on and again early in the morning .

I love the setting and location of Little Hallingbury Mill. As well as the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The food is also incredibly good too, especially the creme brulee.
