This charming, quiet town has lovely canal walks and a large public park next to the town centre. The high street has good eateries and nice little shops. Don't miss the Coffee House Cafe, with it's great sandwiches and all-day cooked breakfast!
If you want to explore further the helpful staff in the central tourist office will suggest various self guided historic walks.
It is a perfect spot to overnight only a 15 minute drive from Stansted airport (and is NOT on the flight path, so no noise of passing planes), and easily reached by public bus #510 (or #509) which runs a regular service to and from the town even at night.

We know bishop Stortford. It’s a pretty place on the canal. Really good walks out and about and a nice town. To be honest you won’t want to leave the hotel for too long tho because it’s so bloody lovely.

Bishops Stortford is a lovely old town which is relatively compact so it is easy to walk around the town centre. There is a good range of shops and quaint tea rooms and excellent restaurants. There’s a river and the station is close to the town centre. It can be a bit noisy especially on Saturday evenings.

Bishop's Stortford is a very picturesque town with friendly people who seem disposed to being welcoming and helpful to travellers. We were only passing through on our way from Stansted Airport to London, nevertheless, we enjoyed visiting the town and would have liked to have stayed a little longer to explore it a bit more

I had limited time to explore the town but I enjoyed walking around on Saturday and noting the mixture of the old historic architecture and the new building. There were plenty of options to eat or stop for a drink.

Lovely little town.
Lovely little town. We was just staying overnight for the Standon Calling Festival and it’s perfect location for anyone going to this. Just about 20 minutes in a taxi from the site. Lots of pubs and nice coffee shops for breakfast the next day. Nice quaint little town with plenty to do.

The location was perfect! It was a short walk to town with many restaurants, shops and grocery stores and the train station. Its proximity to Stansted Airport was extremely convenient by bus/train, making our flight out stress-free. The apartment itself was comfortable, spacious and quiet. The host was very responsive and welcoming.
Everything was just as described and we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. We hope to stay again next time we're in Bishop's Stortford!
Absolutely nothing.
None of us got any sleep because of the (as the receptionist said) noise from the reception area and the flights overhead.
The hotel is open-plan and, therefore, because the rooms have absolutely no sound insulation, the noise of people coming and going, banging doors and talking very loudly (especially the reception staff) through the night plus the horrendous noise of constant flights overhead, it made it impossible to sleep.
Avoid like the plague!
Brilliant! I would stay here again anytime - east for Stansted airport - Melvyn and Sindy are great hosts and the rooms are so quirky. Breakfast in the diner was absolutely great with a super choice - this will be our definite go to hotel whenever we need a hotel in the area p.s great to see the Morgan cars too but unfortunately didn’t persuade my husband to buy one!
A very pleasant stay - comfortable bed, clean rooms, good food, and good service. Some areas of the hotel are really charming with an 'English country house' feel. There are plenty of facilities here, and if we had more time we would have made better use of them (e.g. steam room).
Room was simple but warm, clean and comfortable with everything you would need for an overnight stay. Shower was excellent. Nice touch to have bottles of water in room. Walking distance to Bishops Stortford town centre. Reasonably priced.
It is a wonderful little place to stay. It is very special with all the cars around that you can have a look at. Amazing to think the owners made all of it themselves. The breakfast area is so much fun! I wish I could have stayed longer.
The guest house itself was very pretty and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also very tasty and excellent value for money. The location is just outside of Bishops Stortford but very quiet and peaceful.
great communication with company, super location and property, ideal for walking into bishops Stortford town, great proximity for us for office and close to train station and stansted airport would recommend.
The location of the hotel was perfect, we were down to visit some friends from the area, but it is a perfect place if you need to get to the airport with the 509 & 510 bus close by

The location of the apartment is great, just a short walk to Bishops Stortford Town Centre with great shops and restaurants. The apartment was warm and spacious.
