What a lovely hotel, very friendly staff, lovely food, all served with a sea view. Clean and warm. Perfect. Thank you.
The location the helpful staff and the character of the hotel would definitely stay again
hotel and staff very good no problems with our two night stay. will go back to this hotel in summer.(hotel nice and warm)
there was nothing we did not like
The friendliness of all staff and their efficiency. The dining experience was superb.
The bedroom was not really fit for purpose in a 3 star hotel being far too small.
Lovely friendly staff, location and the breakfast.
The shower, difficult to access and the water was a bit tempermental, got the temperature right then suddenly it went cold then very hot.
Location and the staff were superb.
Bedrooms we booked 3rooms and they were all in need of fresh paint and refurbishment. They were expensive so 3 couples came away disappointed!
Wonderful seaviews. Nice atmosphere
Rooms clean and tidy. In need of redecoration sadly rooms are looking very tired
Mattresses with springs come threw and hotel full of pensioners if that is what it caters for they should make it clear that there are no facilities for younger people never again I will pay £175. For 2days bed only 2adults 1 child 12
I booked the day before and it was only when travelling on the evening we were due to arrive that I contacted the hotel and they informed me that the system had double booked and they had found us an alternative hotel. Yeh hotel was not somewhere I would have stayed if given the choice. It was dirty and nice was a joke with a private party on. I will not be using this service again and I will be spreading my experience to my friends family and work colleagues
Staff very polite, nothing too much trouble. Food was beyond excellent and the service was wonderful. We had a family dinner while we were there and all of our guests commented on how good the service was. Our room was not what we actually requested but that was not hotels fault and they sorted it out within a day or two. The choice of foods in main dining room and lounge was amazing and beautifully served. The deserts were scrumptious. Thanks to all the staff. Very clean everywhere. We are a very young almost 70 year olds but all the people we met were lovely, although most of them were more mature and lovely.
The staff were very polite and helpful. The restaurant service was also fine and the food good as well.Free car parking was a plus with plenty of spaces.
The bedroom was the noisiest I have ever stayed in,right next to the main road with no double glazing.Had to wear ear plugs! It was very stuffy and the bedroom very hot, not helped by the towel rail heater belting out 24/7.
Staff dress code and service
The ballroom was very nice
The Hotel appears to be very nice from the outside. However, on entering, it resemble a very tired ‘Old Folks Home’. The owners appear to be under the impression that the rate of progress is not to exceed the speed at which the clouds cross the sky and we all still live in an Empire. The decor is so dated with heavy dusty drapes and chairs that have over the years really had the stuffing knocked out of them. There were some lovely pieces of furniture about the place and well in keeping with the ‘Olde World’ appeal. The staff appeared to be in a time warp, probably transported in from the 1920’s / 30’s as and when required. Mealtimes were akin to the very best, or worst of the Monty Python sketches, but certainly nothing to laugh about. The food was reasonable but the service atrocious The room that we were assigned was small, very small! We should have refused it there and then, but we thought we would put up with for one night, how sorry we were. We discovered at Midnight that the bed was in fact a Three Quarter and not a Double, so no room really for 2 people. Needless to say that I had a better night sleeping on the floor than that which my wife had occupying the bed. The bathroom was extremely small and with a Blue Suite along with the Blue Tiles it was very claustrophobic. The room was situated at the rear of the hotel with all the ‘after hours’ activity going on during the night i.e. Bottles being binned along with all the other Rubbish that a hotel of this size gets rid of into the huge, noisy, Wheelie Bins. The ballroom was very nice and that would be the only reason that we would ever step through their doors again. Not recommended at all.
When I arrived the hotel had not received my reservation from Booking.com, a little embarrassing! I was lucky they found me a suitable room but this could have been a disaster. Not sure if I will use this method again!
Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, friendly and efficient staff, plenty of parking space, easy flat walk into town or bus stop right outside entrance.
Sea view room good but being on front of hotel was noisey due to main road (windows not double glazed, this would improve situation).
- Kind and helpful staff - Good location
- No view from the room at all - room windows facing a very small internal area - The bedding looks and feels cheep - Noise from some equipment like air-conditioning
Clean hotel with helpful staff. Good breakfast. Very conveniently situated and with such an excellent bus service did not need to use the car.
Web pages states wi-fi is available but this only works on ground floor and not in bedrooms. Very poor for modern world.
Most staff were very friendly. Entertainment a few nights a week (mostly catering for older people though!) I found it quiet, but also heard our neighbours complaining that the kitchen fan woke them up each morning... I had no trouble with wi-fi in my room.
Some of the elder staff were very 'stuffy' and pompous. About 15 minutes walk to centre - ok for some, but not so good for older people.
Friendly staff. Outdoor pool quite cold but spa alongside was pleasantly warm. Good sea views from bar area . Plenty of outside space to sit on a warm day.
When we arrived reception had no knowledge of our booking so we did not get the room with sea view we had booked until the second day. They had our booking by the time we left. It was not whether it had arrived late or been dealt with incorrectly.
Polite staff very helpful, good food surroundings, liked having a swimming pool , able to relaxing and have a drink by the pool.
The level of noise, at 5am a extractor fan located on top of the kitchen roof was turned on plus once awakened could not get back to sleep room 61.Room 64 which was occupied by my sister running water could be heared through out the night thus keeping her awake.
Close proximity to Railway Station. Comfort Bus stop nearby Easy walk into Town
Torquay has become rather too down-market these days but there are compensations.
pool not warm
everything was excellent it is always a gamble when booking online but the hotel.staff. food, room and facilities very good, would go again easy access to surrounding places of interest brilliant views from our room.
Reading a recent online review of some dissatisfied customer complaining of everything he felt the hotel out dated re windows etc he didnt read the plague outside saying it was a listed building and couldn't be changed, he even complained about the loo paper stupid man
Plentiful car parking. Reasonably early serving of breakfast (7.45am).
Extractor fan just outside bedroom window was noisy. £6.50 breakfast supplement for scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Foreign staff with limited English brought wrong food orders. Hotel generally a bit run-down and in need of refurbishment.
