Location/pool area/staff were mostly helpful.
Rooms and some public areas need a freshen up/bed could have been better. Breakfast not as good as most hotels I have stayed in. Scrambled egg was the most diluted I have ever tasted (4 days in a row!!) WiFi only available in public areas?
The location was excellent, And the staff were happy to help with anything, Realy good atmosphear.
Staff very friendly and helpful
Dirty, paper peeling from walls mould on windows terrible view,,pool freezing breakfast very poor This was a present for my daughter in laws birthday she was embarrassed to say how bad it was It would have been better to use bed and breakfast.
Room with sea view Excellent breakfast Very pleasant staff Excellent parking for car Near enough to all amenities but quiet enough to be peaceful. Excellent!!! Thankyou so much for a Suberb 3 day stay!!!!!
Nothing- all brilliant!!!!!!!!!
friendliness and helpful staff
cold "heated" pool
The food was good as was the bar and restaurant, good also was location.rooM
Rooms poor, old fittings and fixtures, bathrooms old fashioned, windows old, not double glazed, so noisy, looked at three rooms before we were happy.all noisy, the one we chose was least noisy. The hotel was not very good not worth 3 stars
The care ,food and staff were excellent . We were looked after very well.
Our room looked out on a noisy laundry room. The lift was opposite our room number61 so very noisy. The bed was small and old very creaky. I woke up with bad back every day. The outside pool was freezing so couldn't use it. A hotel for the elderly not youngsters.
Pool, sauna and gardens. Hotel is great during warm weather.Lots of friendly, helpful foreign staff who provide a great service.
Rude elderly travellers who feel they own seats in the lounge area during their stay! Rooms need updating, hotel is very, very old fashioned.
Staff, location, room, view, quality of sleep, the meals. Great value for money.
Wifi difficult to access unless in the lobby.
Size of room and sea view excellent - staff could not have done any more, so helpful even at 1.00am!
Blankets and sheets - would prefer duvet in non patterned cover
I LIKED THE HOTEL HAVING BEEN THERE BEFORE IT IS CENTRAL TO THE CENTRE OF TORQUAY
I HAVE BEEN TO TORQUAY SO OFTEN I GOT A BIT BORED TRYING TO FIND PLACES I HAD NOT BEEN TO BEFORE
views parking jacuzzi swimming pool
old fashioned price
Old fashioned service silver service dinner Large bedroom Sea views Lots of choices on the dinner menu Breakfast good
Old fashioned feel to the decor Tatty bathroom with mould in the corners of the over bath shower Generally a 'tired' feel to the place Ballroom dancing music not our taste
Room was uncomfortably hot but couldn't have window open as it opened onto a roof with around 6 other window facing onto it and it didn't feel safe as I was a female travelling with my young daughter.
* Sea View and aspect; * Bar open as long as residents wanted it; * Friendly staff; * Quality Curtains; * Swimming pool looked good and compliments the look of the hotel.
* room 104 needs refurbishment * Hotel full, plus two weddings so hotel staff had a lot of work on that weekend; but our waiter on Sunday morning pressurised himself and flapped a little. * Still has 'Crittall' metal framed windows on 2nd floor - which is also ready for a refurb.
Staff well dressed friendly helpful Breakfast excellent Room clean and serviced Enjoyed the feeling of going Back in time. Pool area great
Lifts the hotel know the problem. Shower enclosure very tight for Normal built person
The food was excellent. The staff were most helpful and efficient.
The bedroom was hot and stuffy. The decor dated and oppressive. There was an aura of penny pinching with army style blankets, extraordinarily dim lighting and even very cheap single sheet loo paper. The glorious view was marred by the window being streaked with pigeon poo. Not a pleasant place to stay.
The room was really tiny as was the bed and very dated the shower was a dribble at best just not very pleasant
Dated decor, blankets instead of duvet, table cloth under tea making facilities and TV were stained and smelt along with the bedspread,we had a do not disturb sign but our room was still entered, carpet very dirty and stained over all the room was very poor with ripped wallpaper and headboard was filthy with staining
Good location and friendly staff
It was like travelling back in time, the hotel was really old fashioned and is in desperate need of modernisation.
The service was excellent the staff were excellent and always address you as sir or madam. Nothing was too much trouble for them
Noise from the road meant we could not have the window open, there is a lack of air conditioning which meant even at breakfast time it was uncomfortably warm in the dining room which also goes for the room we stayed in.
Great location and room size
They supplied a cot and high chair which were dated and dangerous - needs some money spent to make it a bit more welcoming. Mattress was uncomfortable and even though it was warm outside, the hotel must have been about 10 degrees hotter. Unbearable.
I liked the fact that it was on the sea front and the staff during the day and night were very well manered and more than helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The bed was a little uncomfortable and the extracter fan outside the window, noisy at 7.30am.
The food was lovely, staff were nice
The bed was so hard we couldn't sleep and was very nosiey with traffic and trains going by. The bathroom needs a update old yellow suite
The location was close to the water front and the staff were mostly friendly.
For the price we paid, we were expecting something a lot better. Our first impression was that the place was hot and stuffy. We were expecting aircon or at least a fan in the room, but instead it was boiling and difficult to sleep despite the window being wide open. The place is old, which has some charm but means it leaves something to be desired. Modern facilities are missing such as wifi. We took this hotel as we wanted to treat ourselves a bit, but we came away feeling like we had paid far too much for the experience that we had.
