Welcoming couples and families, this superb Hotel is in a quiet location, a short walk from Torquay seafront, the center of town, Torre Abbey and the English Riviera Conference Center.
Score from 128 reviews Very good
Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, friendly and efficient staff, plenty of parking space, easy flat walk into town or bus stop right outside entrance.
Sea view room good but being on front of hotel was noisey due to main road (windows not double glazed, this would improve situation).
- Kind and helpful staff - Good location
- No view from the room at all - room windows facing a very small internal area - The bedding looks and feels cheep - Noise from some equipment like air-conditioning
Most staff were very friendly. Entertainment a few nights a week (mostly catering for older people though!) I found it quiet, but also heard our neighbours complaining that the kitchen fan woke them up each morning... I had no trouble with wi-fi in my room.
Some of the elder staff were very 'stuffy' and pompous. About 15 minutes walk to centre - ok for some, but not so good for older people.
pool not warm
Location Large car park Daily servicing of room
Old fashioned bedding Rooms need updating Noisy Daily events/meetings can cause difficulty parking for residents. Hotel specialising in over 60's
Location/pool area/staff were mostly helpful.
Rooms and some public areas need a freshen up/bed could have been better. Breakfast not as good as most hotels I have stayed in. Scrambled egg was the most diluted I have ever tasted (4 days in a row!!) WiFi only available in public areas?
On arrival was given twin room , even though we had booked a double .. When I went to the reception I was told ..... Oh yes u booked via booking .com and not direct... So u don't always get a choice ..... (Even though on the booking we were asked our room choice ?????) And we don't have a double free for the 3 nights .... After I complained bitterly I was given 2 keys to check out 2 rooms which we could have for 2 nights then move for the third . We accept a small double room , seriously in need if refurbishing ... Then on the 3rd night we were given the room originally with twin beds .... Which were attached together to make a double .... Why the hell could this not have been done when we arrived!!!!! Saving all the hassle ?????? ... I complained to management , didn't get much sense from him ... Then they lost our luggage which was supposed to be moved 4 doors away and took 35 mins to find it .... Once I had again had to go to reception to enquire were out luggage was ( 6pm at night ) Room was very noisy ... A ventilation system was humming all night .... Overrated , over expensive , in need of refit , untrained staff .... Management that promise to sort it, but don't follow it up... Never will we stay again ....
The location was excellent, And the staff were happy to help with anything, Realy good atmosphear.
Staff very friendly and helpful
Dirty, paper peeling from walls mould on windows terrible view,,pool freezing breakfast very poor This was a present for my daughter in laws birthday she was embarrassed to say how bad it was It would have been better to use bed and breakfast.
we were not informed that this hotel is for over 65 age, the hotel was not clean, the bathroom was stained and mould on shower screen, cobwebs in the windows, and was not suitable for our age, also the smell of the hotel was very offensive, for the cost of the 2 nights of nearly £300, It was not worth this amount by a long way.
The hotel is very dated, rooms are small and the place smelt of school dinners. Table and chairs out in the garden are worn and needed a good clean. The rooms are overcharged at £170 night! We only stayed as it was a Bank Holiday and nothing else was avaiable!
Room with sea view Excellent breakfast Very pleasant staff Excellent parking for car Near enough to all amenities but quiet enough to be peaceful. Excellent!!! Thankyou so much for a Suberb 3 day stay!!!!!
Nothing- all brilliant!!!!!!!!!
friendliness and helpful staff
cold "heated" pool
The food was good as was the bar and restaurant, good also was location.rooM
Rooms poor, old fittings and fixtures, bathrooms old fashioned, windows old, not double glazed, so noisy, looked at three rooms before we were happy.all noisy, the one we chose was least noisy. The hotel was not very good not worth 3 stars
The care ,food and staff were excellent . We were looked after very well.
Our room looked out on a noisy laundry room. The lift was opposite our room number61 so very noisy. The bed was small and old very creaky. I woke up with bad back every day. The outside pool was freezing so couldn't use it. A hotel for the elderly not youngsters.
Pool, sauna and gardens. Hotel is great during warm weather.Lots of friendly, helpful foreign staff who provide a great service.
Rude elderly travellers who feel they own seats in the lounge area during their stay! Rooms need updating, hotel is very, very old fashioned.
Staff, location, room, view, quality of sleep, the meals. Great value for money.
Wifi difficult to access unless in the lobby.
Size of room and sea view excellent - staff could not have done any more, so helpful even at 1.00am!
Blankets and sheets - would prefer duvet in non patterned cover
I LIKED THE HOTEL HAVING BEEN THERE BEFORE IT IS CENTRAL TO THE CENTRE OF TORQUAY
I HAVE BEEN TO TORQUAY SO OFTEN I GOT A BIT BORED TRYING TO FIND PLACES I HAD NOT BEEN TO BEFORE
I loved the sea views and the coldness to Torquay town centre. Cost of taxi's was only £5.
The room was nice and clean. Bathroom was old and even tho clean could of done with modernisation. A bigger bath being I'm 6ft 2" would have been nice. But would book again.
views parking jacuzzi swimming pool
old fashioned price
Staff is friendly and helpful.
By far overpriced. Pictures and description at booking.com suggesting a level of comfort and quality that does not correspond with the reality.
Old fashioned service silver service dinner Large bedroom Sea views Lots of choices on the dinner menu Breakfast good
Old fashioned feel to the decor Tatty bathroom with mould in the corners of the over bath shower Generally a 'tired' feel to the place Ballroom dancing music not our taste
Everything else. Last decorated circa 1981. Breakfast dry and overcooked. TV inaudible on max vol. Bed rock hard. No toilet roll only tiny tissue. Kettle socket broken. General air of a care home. Most guests 70+. Smell of urine by lobby lift. Pretentious staff member in tailcoat. Travelodge far better standards and value for money.
Room was uncomfortably hot but couldn't have window open as it opened onto a roof with around 6 other window facing onto it and it didn't feel safe as I was a female travelling with my young daughter.
