Great room, well run, easy to find

Fairly awkward breakfast situation No hosting whatsoever, we didn't see a single person during our stay

The house & location & rooms were nice...

The hostility of not having anyone to greet us on arrival...it was very self service, simply picking up an envelope from a table in the hall...felt very strange and the only correspondance I did recieve from the staff on the check in day of checking was quite abrupt - stating that the business payment card had been declined (despite the booking taking place 3 weeks before) which meant that I had to use my personal card!

Liked the location and the character of the house. Pleasently surprised on how nice the room was. Well over our expectations for the price.. We stayed for one night and we were really comfortable in our room at night. Some quality soaps etc came with the roomprice. There are some great walks around the area which we did and the scenery is lovely. Really nice friendly people and we definately will be returning in the near future for a quiet weekend.

The rooms were well furnished and the staff (on the one occasion when we could find any) were friendly and helpful. They arranged a change of room for us so that we could be on the same floor as our friends.

Very cold until quite late on in the evening - NO heating until about 7pm. Breakfast consisted of slightly mouldy sliced bread, sugary variety box cereals and tea & coffee sachets. The hot water urn that hadn't been switched on and consequently took half an hour to boil; hardly a 'continental' breakfast. We were left entirely to our own devices. There were no staff to be found evening or morning to complain about our issues and we had to leave without signing for our card. We were thoroughly disappointed as we had booked this hotel for our friends as well as ourselves. At £100 a night this was extremely poor value for money.

Loved our room (room 10) and we had the most comfortable bed and nights sleep ever. Would recommend and we can't wait to go back.

The decoration of the house is not very pretty or modern. Atmosphere is not amazing so it's not for romantic couples.

There was a leak in the bathroom. We called the staff, at night who checked it and placed some towels around the leak and said that she would give discount because of this, but she did not remember anything next morning. Your conformation mail had said that breakfast was included in the price quoted, but were charged extra for breakfast.

Rooms were very clean, shower and bathroom spotless. Excellent idea for keyless entry not only in rooms but the electric gates at bottom of drive. You can come and go as you please. Slight wait for Breakfast, could do with more help. Would recommend this B&b to everyone, the beautiful town of USK is only 1 mile away, well worth a visit.

Wanted another person to help at Breakfast time.

I liked the beautiful 18th century period features such as shutters on the windows, the feeling of space, the view from the window of the mountains and horse paddock, the comfortable beds and the facilities in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Price and the location.

Has not been cleaned for a long time.During our stay we could see for a once the owners.More like cheap hostel than a B&B

It felt spacious and airy. Everything was clean and, although it describes itself as a B&B on the signs, it felt more like a well presented hotel

If we'd had a lot of stuff and weren't disabled then there's a little walk to reception but that's a pretty minor point

We really enjoyed the quietness. Although we didn't know in advance, guests are allowed to use the Spa in a nearby hotel.

We had a pleasant stay - lovely sized room with good furnishings and recently refurbished nicely sized bathroom. A lovely spot with beautiful countryside & local places to eat. Good breakfast with lovely fresh local fruit.

The staff were doing a sterling job, but they could have done with an extra pair of hands. The house could have done without the electric gates. Gates are not too welcoming. Garden areas were overgrown.

The linen was clean and fresh, the bed comfortable,the shower room was also clean and the shower gel and body lotion was lovely.

The locked gate that greets you as you arrive is awful, annoying and offputting. The Llancayo should make it more clear on here that it is only a guest house but the prices are hotel prices, there didn't seem to be any public areas I.E. no bar, no restaurant etc..just a breakfast room. We reserved for 3 nights, on the 1st day our room wasn't serviced, we had gone out straight after breakfast and taken in Usk, Monmouth and Abergavenny so were very disappointed to arrive back to an unmade bed, dirty cups and damp towels. The next day it had been serviced although the bed looked as though the duvet had just been thrown in the general direction of the bed. I still have no idea who was running the place, if anyone.

Laid back approach, very friendly, bedroom very clean, bottled water provided, fridge provided with space to actually use rather than stuffed with over-priced drinks which are never used. Views from room were beautiful as were gardens albeit very rustic Breakfast was cooked to order and was very flexible

En suite was really a very large wardrobe containing a toilet small handbasin & shower. All rather cramped ! The main car park is in trees on open ground which would be pretty bad in very wet weather was only used when the space by the front entrance was full even though a notice suggests that the latter should be for dropping off etc.

The hotel is in a lovely location and has been kept very much in its original Georgian design. Jo could not have been more helpful and we would certainly recommend to friends. Next time we will bring our dog who will love it there.

Location, peacefulness, good comfort, privacy.

The rooms were not serviced and no apology was offered, only some excuse that their electronic card wouldn't work and they needed ours. No offer was made to rectify on our return. No reduction on the fee was offered either. The attitude of the manageress was casual as if it was the owners' fault for fitting electronic locks!
