The location was the only good thing about this (hotel) The reception staff were unhelpful the room had wallpaper hanging off, the tiles in the bathroom were comming away from the wall in fact my wife nor myself could bring ourselfs to use the bath/ shower we stayed only one night in the morning we both just used the hand basin to wash our hands and left asap we put our cat in a cattery for the weekend and the cat had the better accommodation.

The staff were, in a long-suffering kind of way, quite happy to help out with the various difficulties that emerged during our stay. The location of the Grand Hotel is also very good, with views of the entire Llandudno bay and the the Little Orme. The building itself is certainly the grandest of all the hotels in town, which does make one wonder why it has been allowed to suffer such sustained neglect. For a building that is architecturally very impressive, the Grand Hotel has been allowed to suffer a sustained and inexplicable decline, evident in all sorts of ways, from the windows that have not been cleaned in many years to the general atmosphere of decay and creaky floorboards. The food served at breakfast is extremely poor, being based on the cheapest possible ingredients. Some of this would be excusable if the prices were reasonable. But they are not, costing probably twice what one would expect to pay for such a hotel. I wish I had taken my family to one of the many bed and breakfasts still with vacancies at the time of our visit, which would have cost the same money but provided a quieter and more congenial experience and much better food. Our stay is proof to me of how an over-reliance on finding hotels through the Internet can actually result in paying a good deal of money for a poor service when superior, if less well promoted, accommodation is available. It is quite sad to see how the Grand Hotel has fared in recent years. The decline of what should still be an impressive establishment is baffling. What are Britannia hotels up to?

The food The web-site said I could bookin at 3pm. When I arrived I was told that the booking in time was 4pm. When I told the recepcionist she said the web-site was wrong and it should be changed. The main light in the bedroom was not working I did not report it because I did not want the bother. The sink in the bathroom is cracked.

We enjoyed the hotel for its sea view, easy access on to the pier and the variety of entertainment It was also great that we could take our small dog on holiday with us and walk him on the promenade and pier. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits provided. Some staff were very friendly but others needed to go on a course in customer relations. The parking is an issue as at times we were unable to park near the hotel, which is all pay and display. Food is poor, for instance at breakfast there were no croissants, fresh fruit, mushrooms or fresh tomatoes.Evening meals were bland and did not have variety i.e. roasted parsnips, but no other vegetables, at one meal. Rooms need updating, for instance,no hook on bathroom door, no hair dryer, old style TV so no digital channels, wood chip wall paper, very thin pillows and cheap duvet. Hotel caters mainly for coach parties of elderly people. Independent travellers are given a 9 am breakfast slot (causing queues) and the entertainment seen on a Monday is repeated on the Friday as the coach parties have left.

Only choose this hotl cause it's close to the sea 1 Bed side light don't work, 2 shower don't work, 3 after giving an info pack which was not helping, had to wait 20mins to be seated for dinnder and about 10-15mins for breakfast. 4 we could choose where to sit, the waiter said we can't change it as we wanted the sea view. 5 we ask sea view rooms end up at the back of the hotel! 6 will not recommend this hotel to any of our family or friends! 7 when we book this hotel it says free wifi but we got there it's only available on the ground floor totally unaccepted!

The first room we were given was very small. Supposedly a double it was barely adequate as a single! The window would not open and the "maintenance" staff could not release it.We were told all the rooms were full so we could not have an alternative. On telling the reception staff we wished to leave and wanted our credit card cancelling surprise surprise another room was found!! This was better but still on the small side. In addition the bath tap could not be turned of fully, so we could hear running water all night.Needless to say we will never return to this Hotel and will actively advise friend never to go either.

The staff were always helpful and friendly, our room was clean and well serviced each day. The Grand is positioned beautifully, the area is nice and flat for walking and the shops are very good. This was or third visit to the Grand but I'm very much affraid it will be our last, We have no complaints about the staff on any level but the food was dreadful. I certainly won't be putting my poor stomach through that agony again.

The Grand, must have been just what it name says, but that was long ago. It is a very tired building now, and not really fit for the purpose it was built for so very long ago. I doubt a refit is really the answer, sometimes one has to be cruel to be kind. Pull it down and start from the beginning again, there comes a time when you have to say good bye.

Receptionist quickly upgraded our room to a sea view as the room we were given smelt like previous occupants had been smoking in there. Apparantly it's a non-smoking hotel. Nice location, limited free parking. Or £1.10 per night nearby. Our room was basic, but Ok. Kettle & tea & coffee but no extras like ironing board, hairdryer, internet/phone or fridge. The sea view of the bay beach & promenade was great. It was too hot and we had no windows so we had to open the balcony door all night. We were late down for breakfast (9.00 am) & felt that although there was plenty of food it was just put out once and not topped up as it was taken. Althought I'm over 50 I did not enjoy the entertainment which was aimed at the over 70'S.

The walk along the Prom. This Hotel was once a truly Grand place, but, unfortunately is now a little run down. It desperately needs a great deal of T.L.C. and even the windows did not appear to have been cleaned in months!

I stayed in a family room with my 2 sons and I was really pleased with the room - good size, large en-suite and best of all the room had a door opening out onto a balcony with sea views. Sea air and the view of sunrise over Llandudno Bay in the morning was the highlight of my stay. All the staff I met were very approachable. The food was lovely but the vegetables overcooked to my liking.

Close to cable car and tramway. Cheap beer during the day. Even though we paid more than the better hotels in the area, we felt like 2nd class citizens because we were not with the coach parties.Staff were too buzy and at times rude. Breakfast was the only meal we would risk due to rock hard eggs, cheap fatty sausages and uncooked bacon. Room was too small and up 5 flights with 2 changes of lift you waited ages for.

The location is excellent - ideal for shopping/entertainment. The bedrooms need updating badly. Also more heat needs to be applied to the bedrooms and dinner - both were less than luke warm.

“The locatiion of this hotel is superb as it is on the beach front with only a short walk around the corner to the towns high street. Decour and fittings are all in good modern taste with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all polite, well presented and helpful. In particular, i found the young lady receptionist a credit to the establishment. My room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning had the usual choice of full english, toast and cereals.” Richard, Biggleswade |
