Beautiful place. Feels like a great museum. Staff was very helpful. Food excellent.
Wifi did not work that well. Food is quite expensive.
The staff are very well trained and helpful. The room was clean and warm. We felt welcome.
There is no coffee or tea making facilities in the room unless requested.
Everhthing was perfect. Staff was excellent. Special thanks to Brian.
Good setting, interesting decor and furnishings all over the building, interesting building, comfortable bed, fluffy towels and robes etc, good friendly staff. Breakfast main course was very good. Light bulb that went during our stay was replaced immediately.
Helpful feedback: Very noisy latch style ensuite door in the bedroom. Couldn't change channels on the radio. Shower flooded the bathroom floor, the blind in the bathroom too short. Downstairs ladies poor decorative condition,. Breakfast: Weak coffee, poor fruit, not good pattiserie. Dinner expensive, so ate elsewhere, no indication on line of menu or pricing to be able to assess this in advance.
Class yet friendly. You feel so refreshed within minutes of your arrival. The rooms are spacious, spotless and so relaxing. The staff are amazing, they instinctively know when to appear.
A spa would be nice.
Attention to detail throughout. Exquisite interior, so welcoming and comfortable. Finest china and glassware. Just the Best.
The wi-fi was unobtainable on my visit.
Location, decor all fantastic. Wonderful place to stay but next time would eat out in a local pub for atmosphere and better choice and healthier bill!
Despite being great there's no bar, whilst service is excellent it's a bit stifling. In all public area you feel the need to whisper. Food good but very limited choice and exceptionally expensive!!
A wonderful, relaxing stay in a stunningly beautiful hotel. A wild, windy, wintery walk in the Black Mountains after a huge breakfast and returning to such a comfortable place with log fires, sherry in the room and delicious meals!
The food we had was excellent. Service was fab too. Staff were very friendly and willing to accommodate any request. We could not fault the cleanliness, and we are quite fussy! Although quite pricey it was well worth it as a treat. It was a shame the Welsh weather was not so good.
Not a huge choice on menu for those that have a simpler taste.
Beautiful hotel. We stayed in a 'classic' room which was large with a four-poster bed. Sunday lunch was good value. Lovely walks in the countryside and pretty towns nearby. Complimentary sherry in the rooms was a bonus!
Dinner menu was extortionate so we didn't eat at the hotel in the evenings. Nominal 10% service charge added to everything at the end (including the cost of the room). Atmosphere was quite formal at times, would have preferred staff to have been a little more relaxed. WiFi was poor and bed was not too comfortable.
Everything. Very nice not to have to worry about anything
Nothing not to like.
Lovely comfortable beds, it was like staying in an old English stately home. Breakfast was very tasty with good quality ingredients. We will definately be coming back!!
Staff were very pleasant and helpful, we were given a particularly comfortable and spacious room on this, our second visit, with a visually dramatic bathroom - the newer rooms on our last visit were much blander though comfortable.
The tables in the restaurant are a bit too intimate to have a private conversation - having said that the staff were very good about arranging a quieter table on request. Though good, we found the restaurant expensive and with too much emphasis on the admittedly very impressive presentation - we would only stay for a special occasion because of this formality
Excellent bedroom with great food . Most attentive staff , attractive unique location and at a price a fraction of a London luxury hotel.
It felt like being invited to a country houweekend. There was no fussing around with signing bills after dinner so that you felt more like a house guest. The attention to detail was superb. Sitting by the large roaring fire in the lounge before dinner was quite delightful. The furnishings and pictures showed exceptional style and taste.
Although the food was of the highest haute cuisine standard, for a stay of more than a few days, an alternative simpler menu might be a good idea.
Bed, bathroom, breakfast.
Dinner very expensive.
Comfortable, clean, peacefulness, location, great food - the best full welsh breakfast I have ever eaten!
The hotel is totally relaxing; the staff outstanding; the location perfect and the food/wine very good.will return regularly
Nothing although the food is priced quite high and the kitchen is good enough to offer some cheaper alternatives.
friendly helpfull efficient staff
after a long day and long drive- what comfort and luxury!
Magnificant house, garden and surroundings greet the guests upon arrival. This is posh on another scale. Not your normal so called upper tier chain hotel. Imagine staying in one of your all time favourite National Trust houses and you get the feel of what this place is all about. Although the lunch and dinner menu ares not cheap the quality and local touch are worth the expense for a special one off. A truly hidden place we found by accident 5 years ago this being are 3rd visit we will surely be back just for walking and surroundings.
The whole experience of our visit. Our friends from Canada were most impressed with the high quality and standard of the venue, stating that it was the high light of their visit to Wales.
Comfort of room , nice walks
Food portions far too small needed veg to accompany the lamb dish .-presentation over value for money
