Excellent bedroom with great food . Most attentive staff , attractive unique location and at a price a fraction of a London luxury hotel.
It felt like being invited to a country houweekend. There was no fussing around with signing bills after dinner so that you felt more like a house guest. The attention to detail was superb. Sitting by the large roaring fire in the lounge before dinner was quite delightful. The furnishings and pictures showed exceptional style and taste.
Although the food was of the highest haute cuisine standard, for a stay of more than a few days, an alternative simpler menu might be a good idea.
Bed, bathroom, breakfast.
Dinner very expensive.
Comfortable, clean, peacefulness, location, great food - the best full welsh breakfast I have ever eaten!
The hotel is totally relaxing; the staff outstanding; the location perfect and the food/wine very good.will return regularly
Nothing although the food is priced quite high and the kitchen is good enough to offer some cheaper alternatives.
friendly helpfull efficient staff
after a long day and long drive- what comfort and luxury!
Magnificant house, garden and surroundings greet the guests upon arrival. This is posh on another scale. Not your normal so called upper tier chain hotel. Imagine staying in one of your all time favourite National Trust houses and you get the feel of what this place is all about. Although the lunch and dinner menu ares not cheap the quality and local touch are worth the expense for a special one off. A truly hidden place we found by accident 5 years ago this being are 3rd visit we will surely be back just for walking and surroundings.
The whole experience of our visit. Our friends from Canada were most impressed with the high quality and standard of the venue, stating that it was the high light of their visit to Wales.
Comfort of room , nice walks
Food portions far too small needed veg to accompany the lamb dish .-presentation over value for money
We felt so welcomed. It was like staying in a beautiful home. Our room was stunning. The whole hotel is so comfortable and the food was lovely. We enjoyed walks along the river and in the hotel gardens, where we chatted to a delightful gardener. A wonderful experience.

The ambience of this fine country house and the proximity of the best Welsh countryside Wales can offer. Powys is big, tidy, empty with good open roads. Book a glider flight at The Black Mountains Gliding Club and see the countryside from above.
Two early morning calls we did,nt ask for.
It would have been lovely to have tea making facilities available in the room as we did not know what time we would like our tea in the morning, it was difficult to pre-order. The other drinks available were lovely though.
Amazing venue (artworks etc) and facilities ( including snooker room and gardens/ grounds.
Breakfast food was good but at table service a bit sporadic. Evening meal excellent quality but too expensive for us to eat there more than once.
General ambiance and standard of service from the staff. No request unanswered. Superb !
Room although large was cluttered with un-necessary furniture and soft furnishings.e.g.ten cushions in addition to two armchairs a three seat couch. This for two people occupancy and it made the room very much smaller.Food over fussy.
The public rooms and bedrooms are beautifully appointed, the gardens and grounds delightful as one would expect from an Ashley originated house. The food is delicious and the whole p,ace feels comfortable an almost opulent. A superb place to relax and enjoy the comfort of a country house.
The staff, the service and their appearance lets the hotel down badly. This hotel needs silver service and a visible body at front of house. I had to go in search of someone every time I wanted anything. Also we waited for 2 hours....yes 2 hours, for dinner on the one evening we were there. The owners need to shake their team up if they want to maintain their accolades!
Excellent staff and accommodation.
The price of food and drink.
Setting Rooms Bathroom excellent Beds v comfortable Staff friendly Walks from hotel
Limited choice on menu Pretentious head waiter V expensive Didn't enjoy the meal Modest breakfast Limited gluten free options
The whole stay was seamless and effortless. Warm, welcoming, and attentive staff. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Spacious room with stunning view. Comfortable bed & coffee brought to your room to start the day. Drinks & fruit bountiful in the room too. Overall a wonderful stay. We will return very soon.
Absolutely everything....except for the mattress on the bed. Pillows were just a little uncomfortable
The mattress on the bed....didn't sleep too well as it was hard. Thankfully just stayed the one night
Ambiance, room size, bed, food just about everything.
Wifi needs some work.
Fantastic location, great fittings, room has great amenities and furnishings. Very nice views as well.
Housekeeping standard pretty poor - needed to ask for a bar of soap when we arrived; next day we had used the plate provided in the room, but no one washed it during the regular room cleaning service in the morning and we ended up washing it ourselves. Then they have a sign that says they won't wash the towels if we hang them up, but they gave us clean ones every day anyway. And finally, food and drink was shockingly expensive for very simple good food. And you need formal dress for the restaurant but no one told us when they asked if we wanted to reserve a table for dinner. Overall, it was a disappointing expensive experience in a very nice well furnished hotel in a fabulous location. Such a shame.
I liked the peaceful location and the luxury of the hotel.
At breakfast the staff served tea and coffee wearing gloves .We thought this was far too formal and more suited to dinner in the evening.
Staff, location, food, service, room, facilities…
Very poor wi-fi coverage. No bar.
