The comfortable and cosy Bryn Llewelyn Guest House is located in the centre of Betws-y-Coed, less than half a mile from Betws-y-Coed Train Station.
Score from 149 reviews Wonderful
Set in 40 acres of wooded grounds, Bryn Gwynant provides hostel accommodation in a stunning Snowdonian setting. The hostel looks out over the lake Llyn Gwynant, and Snowdon itself.
Score from 81 reviews Good
Situated in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, The Eagles Luxury Bunkhouse is set within a charming 19th-century building that offers free Wi-Fi and an on-site pub with log fires.
Score from 104 reviews Very good
-freezing cold in the night ( heating was turned off!) - stinky hall, room and toilet - nice toilet from photos on booking is only near communal room, other toilets are in much worse condition (mould on the ceiling) - dirty kitchen - communal room and kitchen are in different part of building so you have to walk outside to get there - some undentified insects bit us in the night - dark hair on duvets, so it's better to have your own sleeping bag (like we did) -worn out mattresses
- dog friendly - warm - movie channel so we enjoyed family film fests together - the swing rope outside - the moose theme was cool !
- looked clean, could be cleaner - toast bits under cushions on chairs, dust on fans when switched on by mistake instead of lights..insects stuck in the shower area/cubicle - we did not use... - plates were scarce and some chipped - energy lights stuck out of light fittings gave quite a glare plus take care when making beds..son broke one stuckout light whilst shaking his duvet into duvet sheet ! - the dim lighting.. but this may be to add a more log cabiny effect - needed more worktop space to make family meals for 2 adults and 3 teenagers -19..14 and 13...
The Hostel made it great for our family of 4 to stay in one room. It was tight, but we loved it. Very clean and comfortable. Great Kitchen facility for self catering.
A little tough to find at night. But once we saw in the daylight, no problem. Close to Moel Siabod. Great hiking.

Very nice host and pretty location.
The structure is pretty run-down and it needs quite a bit of refurbishing. Also, the bed sheets looked pretty old and stained, and the kitchen was not very clean (the microwave was filthy). It was a very nice "vintage" experience, but it could use a bit of TLC. Also, if you use the parking, watch out when you exit with your car, as it's not easy to see who's coming from your right.
A good base for sightseeing around north Wales, and very close to Betws Y Coed, a good way to meet other people.
Had good company bar the last night who left a lot of mess around kitchen and communal areas, that's because of the company not the place, staff could have come in and made these individuals to clean up after themselves.
The room layout. It has a washing basin. Location is beautiful.
No mobile signal in the room. No wi-fi signal either in the room.
Cheap, informal hostel accomodation in a stunning location. Brilliant for walkers etc but be prepared - bring your own food and drinks to cook in the kitchen.
cleanliness and solitude
£60 for family room (2 x bunk beds) near to Llechwedd Slate Caverns for brilliant 'Bounce Below' experience. Excellent memory-form mattress, clean bedding & new pillows (that you make up yourself as thsi is a Youth Hostel of course). Lots of mains plugs in Rm 2.. Side table & dressing table & provided with mirror & handy drawers in Rm 2. Fantastic large table and bench seating for lots of people to eat at table in spacious communual room. Fabulous large telly in same communual with small, comfy sofa. Free Wifi but we could only get a reasonable signal in kitchen area and definately not Room 2. (rural position would probably make lots of phone signals difficult). Friendly owner and family who showed us round on arrival. I didn't mind the request to pay straight away to save sorting it next morning. Thankyou Lledr House for providing clean, comfortable and cost effective accomodation - an invaluable alternative to hotels in Wales which can be pricey. Highly recommended - great way to meet new people from all walks. Lovely to greet a Welsh-speaking family in the kitchen.
Walls are not very sound-proof so I was kept awake till after midnight by unruly guest kids (slamming doors) in room opposite and a Dad snoring loudly next door despite ear-phones. (Should have taken wax ear plugs then I would have been fine). Room was a little chilly due to rainly spell in summer & I'd forgotton to pack a thick jumper(!) There was a heater for proper cold weather. Upstairs communual bathroom got a bit whiffy despite lots of lovely hand soap freely available - downstairs bathroom looked lovely. Not a lot of room available for large suitcases so remember that this is a hostel not a hotel.
Great facilities and very comfortable place to stay
The fact that you can't check in until 5pm a bit earlier would be better.
The staff appeared friendly, and the location was good.
The ukip stickers and banners seems out of place in a hostel, as would any prominent political ideology.
The beautiful surroundings.
Only one shower stall had a shelf to put things on and was incredibly rusty. There was no where to lock your belongings when out during the day.
Clean room, good mattress, nice and big living room and kitchen
We have stayed in the Cabin, loved it! Great location and comfort! Greatly recommend!
Good spot to lay down for the night. Not plush by any means but a perfect hostel to shelter from inclement weather and rest your bones before tackling snowdonia again in the morning. 'Basic but adequate'.
Staircase to upper floor is not designed (width) for 6ft 6" 125kg rugby player, but you can always sneak down the wider fire escape.... No alternative to the 6ft bunk beds though!!! But after a day in the mountains and for £15 I'm not complaining!
The beds were comfortable although other dorm beds looked old. The common living space had nice couches, big dining table. The internet wifi worked well.
There were two flights of stairs to reach our bedroom. The hall and bedrooms located uptairs were musty & there was black mold around windows. Several lights were out including one of the two kitchen lights. The multi-person bathroom in the upstairs near the bedrooms is unisex (there is one bathroom downstairs near the common room provides privacy, but it is not convenient.) Many pots and pans were greasy and the kitchen counters were not clean. The staff were not available after checkin.
It is a big house in the middle of the picturesque snowdonia national park. A great place to take walks and enjoy nature. The house is very quiet so it easy to have a good nights sleep. The showers and toilets are clean but gender mixed. It has a nice living room and kitchen facilities to cook.
If you are travelling by public transport is is not the easiest place to reach. It is a half an hour walk to the next village where the only shop around is. There is no breakfast included and to get from your room to the living room you have to go outside first.
The hostel is extremely comfortable and well equipped with facilities. The surrounding is very relaxing. It is value for money.
The wifi is very slow.
Very comfortable hostel at a great price
The midges due to damp weather and river side location
to small rooms, toilets together man and women , this is terrible, not table, not wardrobe
We didn't stay, didn't feel safe two young 23 year olds wasn't as described
Practical and good for young family. A good base. Very clean. Reasonable price. Very comfortable and warm.
Not so sure about ukip signs! Do not know whether they welcome Europeans and other foreigners?
Fairly good no real problems at all .
