This was our second visit. We returned because our first visit was excellent. We like the situation as it is under an hour from home, the accomodation is first class, the food is amazing and the staff are so attentive and pleasant.
Great location Best food I've ever tasted Formal atmosphere but relaxed and absolutely not stuffy Very helpful staff
Understandably a popular place for weddings etc. Our original room was above the function room - but the noise was too much for us later on in the evening. Mentioned this to reception and we were moved to a different room without fuss or hassle. A very helpful team.
Beautiful hotel and the food is of outstanding quality you will be hard pushed to find a better meal.
The staff were very attentive but not overly so. It seemed to be a very personal service.
One night there was a wedding on and I couldn't sleep because of the band. I did phone reception and they were very apologetic and said they would ask the band to turn the volume down a bit. It made no difference. Although the food was excellent, it was disappointing to have the same menu for three nights. Wouldn't suit a lot of people
Everything, just a lovely place
Nothing to dislike apart from the same cd playing in the lounge all the time a sort of USA jazz, not everyone's taste and not all the time..I will take them a new cd next time
excellent staff very good food
don`t take dogs room pre check was poor, 3 out of nine lights not working no hot water in bath, hot water heavily discolored
Beautiful setting, wonderful log fire burning in the grate of the impressive entrance hall. And it just got better and better. Superb room with a lovely deep roll top bath just waiting for a long leasurely soak. Huge room with every home comfort and a bed which gave us a really excellent nights sleep. Superb dinner, as always, served by attentive but not intrusive staff and the following morning a lovely breakfast finished off out stay in style.
Having to go home!!
Food and service excellent. Room was spacious with a lovely view.
Amazingly large room, comfortable furnishings, stunning bathroom, fruit in the room was a nice touch, plenty of storage space, lovely food and dining experience, excellent staff, stunning whisky collection.
A bathroom cleanliness issue and the fact that we had only 1 single milk carton in the room - I cleaned up the first issue and more cartons were brought to replace the missing ones (although I did ask for a jug of fresh milk which wasn't what we got!). WIFI was rather iffy too.
service, food, ambience all first class, I have stayed here a few times and always consistently excellent.
rooms are excellent
The grounds at the hotel were beautiful with loads of greenery for nice walks and very quaint and traditional furnishings. Food was excellent also.
Wifi was annoying with the signal coming and going
staff of restaurant food
We were there to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and we actually had our wedding there 10 years ago so we really love it! All that's missing is a bar area to sit during the day but to be fair there was a wedding on that day and I think they were occupying that type of space. All in all fabulous hotel, would highly recommend
Everything about the stay was wonderful except ........
The bed was too firm which caused some challenges with a bad back.
Very friendly welcome. Spacious, beautifully furnished bedroom with views over the garden towards Royal Troon golf Club. We were moved to another room quite spontaneously when the hotel realised we might be inconvenienced by a major function taking place the following evening. We had dinner on one evening and it was excellent. Genuine fine dining.
Nothing to dislike. Would stay there again.
Excellent food and breakfast and comfortable sitting rooms.
Bed was a bit hard. Wi-Fi was very intermittent and therefore difficult to be able to write some reports that I had to do.
Room was excellent Staff were polite and helpful Food was excellent
Bar prices a little high
The bedrooms (3), were of an exceptionally high standard and were both warm and comfortable. Our family were delighted with the dining room and the beautifully presented food. We all voted the weekend as a huge success.
We really didn't find anything to dislike
Very relaxed atmosphere, rooms were amazing, large and very quiet. All staff were very helpful in all areas. Grounds and outside seating area are a lovely place to sit. Restaurant and food were also very enjoyable with a lovely round table at window making my mum's 80th birthday a lovely experience. Still talking about it a few weeks later. .
Waiting time in lounge for service was very poor, was not enough staff on as they were doing their best.
4 star luxury but still a homely, comfortable atmosphere.
comfortable room cleanliness standard of food
poor quality of toilet rolls location of plug sockets underneath vanity table
I love the quietness and the whole ambience of the place
the towells and bathrobes could use being replaced as they were a bit thin and worn
