Excellent location with stunning views of Derwent Water although fairly remote so limited to dining there if you wanted to have a drink. At £160 per night in low season it was way overpriced. We tried to use the pool but after waiting for 5 minutes and no member of staff appearing we gave up. Food was ok but nothing special. A minor but nevertheless annoying factor when paying that price was that the TV volume was limited to the point of being inaudible and the remote didnt work from the bed so we had to get up and walk half way to the TV for it to work. We were then offered a second night at £90 for the same room which highlighted the fact that the initial night's fee was overpriced in the first place.

Location in Lake District Over priced, poor food quality and a could not care less attitude of management. We selected the wrong hotel within this group for our personal requirements and standards.

the location, the upkeep of the hotel (very clean), the staff were very friendly. I paid an extra £60 for the 'fell view room' , the view was nice but next time i think I'll just have the standard room as i don't think the view was worth an extra £60. We stayed in room 210 right on the corner, as i was walking through the corridor the cleaner was in room 207 with the door open, the room was the same but the view was a lot better.

We liked the situation and the ambience of the hotel.A Lovely place to relax. It would have been cheaper to book our stay direct with the hotel rather than via your website

Staff were very friendly, food was impeccable. The location of the hotel is the biggest selling point, looking over Derwentwater with a launch jetty only 2 minutes walk away. Some of the leisure facilities proved a little dissapointing for a hotel that promotes itself as a spa break. The pool is only small, the sauna is crowded when you get 6 people in it and you couldnt swing a cat in the changerooms. There is a small Jacuzzi outside next to the swimming pool but we were stopped from using it as it was bookings only.

See below, though of course the hotel has a magnificent location. Any positive feelings were negated by the fact that our room was cold and it proved impossible to warm it up (perhaps because the building is old with no cavity walls, and the room we occupied having two external walls). Perhaps other guests were affected since all the spare blankets were in use, and we had to make do with an extra duvet on each bed. (The original duvets provided for the beds were in fact very much summer weight duvets)

The hotel is in a great location. Massive effort made to make it look and feel fabulous for Christmas. We were disturbed, both by knocks on the door and phone calls, despite putting out the do not disturb sign. We never did find out who had called and knocked on the door!!!. So apart from the disturbances, it was ideal as we needed a couple of days away from our busy and hectic lives. The staff and service was great and the room was lovely. The bed was so comfortable, we both slept really well. We would come again, hopefully without the disturbances.

The breakfasts were amazing, the staff very friendly. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and looked very pretty. The view from the hotel is amazing. The walls are way too thin. On our first night we had to complain 3 times to the Duty Manager regarding someones television being extremely loud and disturbing. Also we booked a family room and although we booked it knowingly; paying for a cot bed and an extra bed for my other son, is a bit odd, considering it is a "family" room? Surely this should be inc, as is family room?
