Score from 45 reviews Wonderful
Loved the friendliness of the staff, location and tranquility
Breakfast was very slow, had finished all toast and coffee before being served a full English. ( which was lovely)
Attentive and efficient staff, 5 minutes' walk from ferry, excellent choice and quality of food, views towards lake and surroundings
3 weddings, a christening party and a conference during our 4 night stay made it noisy and busy, car parking space can be tight, the lift is tiny
Very dog-friendly and a peaceful atmosphere
Staff all foreign - some did not understand English well. Been twice before but standards had slipped this year.
Friendly staff lovely location. Great centre point for the rest of the Lakes
good location good spa
poor service in restaurant no wi fi that works no telephone signal poor quality pillows far too many dogs and very bad to allow them in bedrooms no al la carte dinning menu
Location Room decor comfortable bed beautiful gardens breakfast included good staff quiet despite a wedding being held that day dog friendly
couldnt get wifi to work no phone signal car park across the road undercooked bacon at breakfast room a bit hot
Lovely location, attentive breakfast service and comfortable lounge.
Despite the offer on booking.com being pay on the day, my checking account was debited £80 and I only noticed by chance the money had been taken. When I rang to complain I was passed from pillar to post and in the end refunded. But no one apologized. I got a 'oh some booking.com offers are prepay' as an explanation! Then we had requested an early checkin and staff made no attempts to help with this when we arrived other than a faux phone call to housekeeping on a walkie talkie. We repeatedly went back up to the desk and in the end didn't check in till half an hour after we should have been allowed anyway. Then our room hadn't a bath, no help there either, although Sophie was polite. We realised after we checked out we were in a standard room and could have had a bath tub for £50 more. This wasn't even offered. And then cold coffee at breakfast. For £200 I would expect a complimentary tea while I wait for my room to be ready and a bath as standard. And as for the cold coffee....
Nice area of Lake District
Unfriendly staff , expensive drinks and food very small room for the amount paid
Location n staff
Location, quality of food, helpfulness of staff, comfort of room, good facilities.
Poor understanding of bar orders by some staff
Very polite and nice staff.. Amazing location
Very small portions of food served in dinner that i left the restaurant still feeling hungry after paying £35 per person!!!
me and my wife where in the bar area when mice started running all over the floor went and spoke to the manager he told me the hotel was infested and said well we are in the countryside we would not eat in the hotel after that my rateing would be 3 star at the top we had food there on the first night we had to send it back was cold would not go again
I sent a seperate letter with comments and photographs addressed to the manager and to which he has not had the good manners to reply.
Wonderful location, excellent and friendly service, gentle English decor
Bedrooms a bit hot!
Lovely grounds Outdoor swimming pool Informal meal choice Breakfast menue and service Comfortable seating areas Helpful, friendly staff
Room at back of Hotel with noise from central heating boiler (not too bad), although appreciate we were offered a front room - even with late booking. Spent last 60 years camping and hostelling so no hotel experience to compare.
Restaurant dining was excellent-food very good Location of hotel outstanding with sublime views
Non availability of spa facilities Ambient temperature of bedroom was unbearably hot even with heating off and window open
Quiet, fantastic surroundings, facilities
Needs a little decoration. Too many foreign staff, a couple of which need training in customer service ie breakfast.
Amazing breakfast V friendly staff
Flies floating in the hot tub! Lift dangerous and claustrophobic Shower hasn't got hand held option,is fixed to wall.
restaurant in hotel was way too hot,no air conditioning! Quality of the food was very average, considering the cost. The dining/breakfast area's decor is very dated and the tables too close together. In my opinion the hotel needs investment, because the location is great!
Location and room were exceptional .
Staff efficient but miserable no smiles no cheerful greeting. They are all non english speakers that was probably a factor. Lost a pair of glasses reception very unhelpful . Food very expensive charge £10 for bucket of ice and two glasses!!!
Location and the scenic beauty of the surrounding countryside.
The lift. After having paid for the rooms and breakfasts upfront I didn't like to have to pay £50 in advance for any drinks, etc. I might or might not have. In my experience you normally settle any sundry expenses on departure.
Location is fantastic for walking into keswick. The food is one of best i ever had in a hotel.
The bar prices or London prices i think they over priced.2 cups of tea and 2 pints of beer £15.
The hotel was nice and so where the staff but would not go again
The food was poor for a hotel of this standard the breakfast on the other hand was grok the big down side was on the first night me and my wife where sitting in the bar area when MICE started running all over the floor in the bar area I soke to the manager who informed me it was a problem and they where wicked with them hence won't be going back
