Score from 335 reviews Very good
Views from the rooms are amazing, we slept with curtains open so could wake to watching the sunrise above the lake
Paid quite a lot for a lake view room. Although the view was amazing the room wasn't that spacious and would benefit from a bit of modernisation
Food 10/10 Staff 10/10 Room 10/10 with the Leisure Just adds one more level to a great stay.
Having to leave!
Location Log fires
Breakfast cold, badly presented, table to small, waiting staff indifferent Over priced In need of repair and decoration Noisy - dog barking, people partying Uncomfortable bedding
Service was very good especially at meal times. The meals themselves were of a good standard. The room was fantastic and the location just as good.
Drinks were expensive.
Delicious food ,lovely friendly staff,
Distance to car park when you are disabled
I loved the location for the wedding, service, helpfulness of staff and food.
Christmas cosyness with old time charm. Delicious food and great views.
Service at Sunday lunch.
No alternative to the dinner menu other than meals arranged through the Leisure Centre,
The warmth, spacious lounges and hearty breakfasts
The small bedrooms
Reception staff rude
Very helpful and friendly staff in restaurant, excellent food
the easy comfort & location & the friendly staff.
as always the pilows.
A nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Fairly spacious room with a beautiful view of the lake. Handy for Keswick. Excellent rural location.
I felt it was over priced for what it was and I've stayed in many 5* hotels around the world! This is not 5*. Fire alarm went off 3 times on one night, probably a one-off but spoiled our first night, nothing in the way of compensation was offered, not even a free breakfast! The second night was disturbed by a couple having a very loud argument on our landing and children in the room above amusing themselves by jumping on and off the bed. Overall quite a noisy hotel. We ate out at Luca's in Keswick on the second night, fantastic restaurant, however I had to drive as no taxis were available for at least an hour in advance, very poor. To summarise I would say I don't feel we had value for money.
Wonderful staff from the smiling chamber maids to the brilliant Dining room management,Front of house ,Bar and Leisure Staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the friendliness like being at home. Food served was hot and Fine Dining. All the guests,Mums Dads Kids Granniies,Dogs all seemed to be on best behaviour as if they knew it was Special!
What,s not to like???
Staff, including the hotel manager were incredibly rude, disrespectful and unhelpful following a polite request that our room could be ready slightly before the 3pm deadline that we had to leave as it was impossible to continue our stay. We are both Doctors and were so looking forward to a romantic break from our 4 children. The attitude of the staff was completely shocking and they even refused to offer us a refund! I would definitely advise anyone to think twice before booking this hotel.
Quitness Relaxing place. Resturant & Food & Services are very good
Old lifts too small.
The views were lovely, bar staff friendly and helpful
Head waitress sullen and grumpy, first room (316) mould patch on wall and tiny for £236 second room (215)better but thick with dust. Promises to be plush and luxurious and is actually very tatty, worn carpets and cobwebbed curtains. However most the staff very pleasant.
Everything Exellet loved it
We had 2 young babies in the party and most of the staff were very understanding and helpful. Many went beyond their roles to help out. Also family member has milk intolerance and milk free alternatives could be provided at no extra cost .
Two staff members were rude and unhelpful ignoring requests.
Location, the friendliness of the staff and the excellent quality of the food
Our room was at the back and was rather gloomy
The staff, the food, the setting.
The friendly staff and the general ambience of the place, the tennis court, the spacious but private lounge area, the excellent breakfast and service and of course the superb location and surrounding countryside.
The room was relatively small and basic, reflecting the fact that it was discounted and in something of an annexe to the original building: the TV was small and reception was also poor.
