Stayed here before, this is my second visit at Montcalm. Would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again
Friendly Modern Stylish Well located
Price a bit steep
Great comfort for less than a lot of London hotels. Though we did have a basic double so may be more expensive otherwise but our room was very nice Easy to get to the sights as two stations close by.
Breakfast v expensive and on a Sunday not very many places open in that area.
We had a great mini break at London City Suites last month. The room was small but very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and courteous and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Fourteen light switches. It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to switch off all the lights in the room. They charged my credit card at check in for the room and then took a separate card swipe for extras which was entirely unnecessary...especially when a tired guest arrives at 11:45pm
Like the faculty
Too expensive considered the quality and place. Too many stairs. Hotel is 5 stars however the room was not big as the picture. So much disappointed
Staff were polite and friendly a real credit to the hotel
Card key didn't work one day Layout using two escalators
Staff were extremely attentive, on the ball, room was lovely, complimentary upgrade and bottle of wine on arrival for a birthday. Just a fantastic stay :)
After my first stay at Montcalm property some three months back it was pretty easy to make decision and return when planning another trip to London. This time I chose the City Suites (located across the street and opposite to the Montcalm at the Brewery) as a bit cheaper option but not discriminating the pleasure from the stay. The property is easily accessible; from Heathrow airport you may take the cab but also underground or a combination of a train and underground. I chose Heathrow express which takes you to Paddington and then you change to Circle line and terminate at Moorgate. This is probably the fastest way, booking the tickets for Heathrow express online saves some pounds. The property itself is a boutique hotel featuring with nicely decorated and comfortably furnished rooms. Wifi is included in room rate and works perfect. If your daily schedule allows do not miss the opportunity to have full English breakfast which is combined with continental one and offers everything you like, however, at the cost which is a bit higher. The desk staff is very helpful as much as the concierge services. Not sure if i was only lucky but early check in (at about 9-10am) was possible on both trips. Since the place is close to undergroung it makes it perfect spot for moving around London.
Good location and service... there are good rooms if you are lucky...
The quality differ from room to room... so quality is not consistent... i stayed twice within one week... first room i got was excellent... the second was smelly and noisy.... The way to room could be long way including several stairs and couple of elevators....
The rooms are fantastic, the staff are friendly and very helpful. When I go to London this is the hotel of choice.
We went to this hotel for our second wedding anniversary. When I told them it was our anniversary, they very kindly upgraded us to a club room free of charge. From start to finish, the staff excelled themselves with politeness and helpfulness. The lobby was beautiful with lovely christmas trees up and nice seating area. Unfortunately we didn't have time to sample the food in the Jugged Hare so cannot comment on this (we used Cote Brasserie across the road for breakfast as breakfast in the pub was very expensive). We would definitely visit this hotel again.
The only thing I can comment on that I did not like was as we were in a club room (when we only paid for a superior so cannot really moan!) was that the bathroom was a bit small.
The hotel is co-managed by Montcalm group, so they actually put me into the neighbouring Montcalm hotel (more expensive than this one) as the Suites were closed for the low season.
No day light and window in the room
Overpriced, our room was on the 5th floor, the whole night non stop vibration from the roof is very annoying
Good staff and excellent value for money
Excellent quality rooms, with lovely added extras, such as a choice of aromas in the room. Links to The Jugged Hare is fabulous and only had to nip across the road for dinner. As I was travelling alone this was so convenient. Option of breakfast in the room was nice too.
Good location for business, close to 2 tube stations, stylish cosy hotel, pleasant staff, delicious and varied breakfast
too small room (single), but a cosy one (enough for only sleeping)
Staff Location (4 minute walk from Barbican Tube Station) Breakfast (Club Lounge) Atmosphere Room Facilities
TV Software South Wing Rooms Hotel Pub
bed interior atmosphere staff
location Eur 400 is too much!
Staff politeness, location, room in general
Breakfast is very pricey but you don't have to purchase it so didn't bother us
Very smart decor Excellent little touches Very good staff attention
Bed was two beds pushed together but not very secure so a gap kept appearing
The bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly. The food was superb. The room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel. The Christmas decorations were tastefully done. All things considered a very nice stay and we'll stay again.
Long walk from tube station. Was shown up to the room but the hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren so the route took a bit of getting used to. There were loose fixtures in the bathroom. Ordered an ice bucket with our dinner with room service but only the food was delivered. When we said about the ice the guy said he'd return with it but never did.
The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.
30 pound for breakfast, per person was a bit much!
The hotel was very stylish and modern. It was in a quiet area not far from the Barbican tube station. As it is a converted brewery it is quite quirky in that the building wraps around a courtyard and so we had a bit of a walk to our room on arrival. However, the history of the building is evident due to the many lovely pictures portraying brewery life which adorn the walls around the hotel. Wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!
Breakfast was extra and a bit pricey so we found a nice Pret a Manger near the tube station instead. The shower has an anti scald button on it but I found that the water was not as hot as I would have liked! The rest of the features made up for it though.
the rooms are very clean and modern with excellent facilities.A modern bathroom with rain shower and a very comfortable bed.Unfortunately only stayed one night so didn't have the opportunity to experience the restaurant etc
