Very friendly and helpful staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable while I was undergoing radiotherapy at local hospitals. They added a fridge and full length mirror to my room without my asking. The wifi is completely free. They own the reasonably priced cafe next door which is open for breakfast and lunch. The hotel is just next to Borough Underground station.
There's a very heavy door at the entrance which is slow to close behind you. This was a slight worry coming in at night in case anyone were to follow you. The hotel is in a three storey Victorian terrace house - and I was on the third floor. The room was very comfortable, but all those stairs, even just up to reception on the first floor proved exhausting. There is no lift.
Ideal for a short business stay. Convenient for both the City and West End.
This hotel has the best location ever! Straight next to Borough Station, it is easy to get to Central London. One tube stop to London or a 15 min walk to London Bridge! Being next to a the station I thought it may be a bit noisy but the walls must be soundproof because it was so quiet! The staff were lovely, Wifi was awesome and the room amazing! Brilliant hotel, will definitely be going back.
The bathroom had no door on it which I thought was a bit weird...but it wasn't too bad because I was by myself :)
We could't hear the subway, which is two step away !!
Although the cafe is great fot the breakfast, one has to go out, and since it is a cafe there is a lot going on so one cannot relax.
the bed was soooo comfy extremely clean staff were lovely and friendly easy to find right next to tube good location
We liked everything, especially the staff who are friendly and very welcoming. The location is ideal; the hotel is spotless and the bed we had is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The room temperature was perfect! A great hotel!!
Staff and Location
Room was small but okay.
Location was amazingly convenient as next to a tube. Very good price. Staff, friendly, likeable and helpful.
Rooms are small but that was expected with the cost.
The noisy generator at the back as you have to have the window open being quite stuffy
I suggest to enlarge stairs a little bit more.
Excellent location and comfortable bed
Light in room was broken. Despite asking for it to be fixed nothing was done. Check out also a bit early at 11am.
clean, welcoming, good value for money, I was expecting worse but was pleasantly surprised. Great location next to the tube station. Nice little touches like biscuits, which some expensive hotels have stopped. Would definitely recommend
very little room in reception especially with other guests there too
All staff superb-facilities & location ideal.Provided us with an excellent break - will return next time we visit London.
Nothing whatsoever !!!!!!
The people at the 'London City' are friendly, warm and welcoming. Always ready to help with recommendations for places to visit, directions, or just to chat. The bed in my room was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in ~ more so than my own at home! The room itself was always spotless, and for a single room, surprisingly airy. The Café Riva, by the Front door, offers a variety of fare to suit all tastes and there are convenience stores and pubs very close by too. The hotel location is ideal. All of London is easily accessible from here, whether by bus, tube, (Borough Underground is next door) or river (two riverboat piers are close by). Personally, I walked everywhere, but that is no problem from here either. The river is a five minute stroll down Borough High Street, as is Borough Market. This may be a Three star hotel, but the feel-good factor is definitely Five star! This was my second stay at the 'London City' and I look forward to my next stay here when I visit London again.
There is nothing to dislike about the 'London City'. Book your stay now!
This hotel is in a great location right beside Borough underground station and walking distance to the main railway station of London Bridge for easy access to Gatwick. Staff were lovely and the rooms were spacious with lovely duvets and linens. Food in Cafe Riva was also of a high standard.
Literally 10 steps from the exit of Borough subway station, which easily connects you to almost anywhere in London within 30 mins. Great, helpful staff. Very simple looking hotel but you dont honestly need anything more. Wifi worked great as well.
Nothing really. Great place.
Great location and the room was clean and surprisingly quiet considering the City location. Towels, bedding and beds were extremely comfy.
The room was a tad dark
The staff were excellent, the welcome and continued care was superb. The room was basic, could do with a mirror in the bedroom on the wall. Large shower, clean with good sized towels. Needed the wifi for longer than 6 hours, but the cafe in the morning had free wifi, so not a major problem. Cafe attached, for breakfast/coffee was Excellent! Great value for money, perhaps a discount scheme could be available for hotel guests. Would highly recommend, well earned 8.1 and I look forward to returning.
Paying £20 per night for parking, although I did have the peace of mind that the car was nearby although not secure. I suggest the wifi is continuously available if possible, during the entire stay.
We appreciated the owner's helpful advice whilst travelling Good customer service from the reception Good food at the Cafe Riva Excellent hygiene
That there was no elevator No telephone For the money we spent we expected at least breakfast to be included No bathroom within the room itself
location and price
Location -5 mins from London Bridge and Borough Market-right next to tube stop Comfortable bed, lovely soft towels Tea & coffee making and biscuits! Clean and modern
No lift -but not many flights to climb Might be noisy in the summer if windows open
Lovely warm welcome and a real home from home
No breakfast :(
Too much noise from traffic outside.
Location was excellent for south bank and underground was next door. However it was close to the millennium bridge so St Pauls and Tower of London were walkable. Staff were very helpful and there is a really nice cafe next door for breakfast.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
1) Smell of smoking on the bed/bed linen; 2) Smell of damp from the poorly ventilated bathroom; and, 3) Audio description feature was enabled on TV with no obvious means of turning this off.
