Score from 1039 reviews Very good
This hotel is not a bland international chain, it has old English charm and character,
Small and creaking lift,
The price for our stay was very competitive for London.
The friendly staff and location close to tube station and Hyde Park
The bathroom was tired the rest of the hotel is perfect
Haven't stayed here for a while but still excellent, friendly service, comfortable (value for money) rooms and nice lounge, bar and restaurant area. Good breakfasts and friendly staff - dealing with tourists, families and business people with equal charm
Top floor shower lacked water presssure. WiFi works intermittently but fine down in reception
Location good for Paddington and Hyde park.Restaurant opposite is great (island grill)Staff are great.
I glad I didn't bring my cat because our room was so small...They did change us for a second night to a larger room.Second afternoon of our stay we came back to the whole hotel smelling of sewage...The lift not working First morning of breakfast no yogurt...The filter coffee at breakfast tastes like bad nescafe (if that's possible)In our second room the we had no hot water and had to operate the shower by holding it together with some cardboard. All in all staff are great but food and facilities are poor.
It was fun to stay somewhere a bit creaky and quirky. Very convenient location. Pleasant lounge/reception area with fruit juice, chocolates and newspapers.
Breakfast chaotic and slow. Space in the dining room is limited, but they would probably get more people through by removing a couple of tables and providing a self-service buffet for the included continental breakfast. Long wait in lounge even to get into the dining room. We had a pleasant meal there in the evening though, when only a few tables were occupied. Menu basic but adequate.
lounge area with comfortable seats and fire. excellent tea in bedroom.
Good location very near tube stations
Room was noisy as the windows (on the street) didn't have double glazing. Showering was tidious as we had to bath only with a trickle of water.
Very comfortable, I was upgraded to a suite and it was excellent though the décor was a bit tired and dated.
Close to Hyde Park, bus and underground station. Staff attentive and helpful.
Great location for trip
Broken sleep due to noisy neighbours
Room v cold on arrival and took some time to heat up
charming decor & passable english breakfast
Broken single lift for 2 of 3 days w 4th floor room. Still no itemized receipt received.
Very convenient position, just in front of the Lancaster Gate Tube station (litterally 50 mentres), and it has a bus stop in front of the door. Adorable lobby, with sofas, a chimney and some drinks to chill a bit before going out or back to the room. The room was quite big, well furnished in classical style, clean and tidy. A kettle with a selection of tea and coffee is available and free to use. The staff was friendly and kind. Continental breakfast was quite good. In all a very pleasant stay. We felt welcomed and cuddled.
I have stayed here around 17 times during the last 12 years. I always choose this hotel in London. There is a nice atmosphere here and it is an interesting listed building. The rooms were once nice and exciting, but now a lot of them look tired. I was therefore happy to be informed about a refurbishment taking place this year, and they have already started. If they choose the correct people to decorate the rooms it has great potential to be something else than most London hotels in this price range. However, there is a new large painting in the lobby that I have problems with. It does not fit in at all and I only hope that they will not use the same kind of decor in the rooms. Staff always nice at this hotel. Perfect location.
When there is a very nice but also very small bar in the hotel then a TV should be banned. It destroys both a good conversation and the atmosphere here.
Location was excellent, underground station opposite.
Small lift (2 people) No table at breakfast had to sit in bar area on table which was too small.
The Barman/Receptionist Anthony. He was very friendly
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room, adequate size for a family, comfortable and warm. Great location, very close to Lancaster Gate Underground station. Able to leave car in a secure location for a reasonable cost.
Lift is too small.
Comfy bed Excellent service and super location
The hotel was clean and right by a tube station. Price was very reasonable for one night in london. Breakfast was ok cereals and toast.
Could probably do with some updating but would not put me off staying there again.
The clean room, the clean bath room and kind staffs. Very good location.
The narrow lift.
- Very close to the underground - Comfortable bed
- Very expensive - Not hot water (warm)
One of the best hotals I have stayed in and we do use a lot of hotals that the forth time we have stayed I would say it's geting better
