The location was good, just outside Hyde Park and the tube station 'Lancaster Gate'. The Island grill and bar opposite was great food, fantastic service...just what you need as the hotel food is dreadful. Absolutely awful do not stay here. Our room was dirty and old with a bad odour, most of the staff disorganised and rude. Food was a disgrace. When trying to politely complain the receptionist became verbally agressive. I politely paid, left and will never return.

The hotel's location is probably the only huge advantage and plus of this budget hotel. The hotel needs rehab work indeed. Everywhere, except probably the kitchen and lobby. Elevator is kinda funny. It's the smallest I ever saw. The windows in the rooms are of somewhat Victoria era and have extremely low noise protection. You hear traffic noise from outside, like you are sitting in the chair on a sidewalk. You even hear people outside rushing for work and discussing latest news...Wanna save some $$ and be perfectly located - that's your hotel! Looking for more service different of bed&breakfast type, try seeking for slightly higher priced hotels nearby. There are plenty of them around and within this particular area.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean. Breakfast was enjoyable. Our room overlooked the main road/roundabout at Lancaster Gate. Because it does not have double glazing (due to being a "listed" building), the noise from traffic was horrendous and made sleep impossible. We tried to change to another twin-bedded room at the side or back of the building but unfortunately there was only one double room available and only one of us could stay. The General Manager was very sympathetic but without any other rooms available, there was nothing else he could do.

Convenience of location. Friendliness of staff. Car parking at a very reasonable rate Excellent freshly cooked hot breakfast No hospitality tray available in rooms. Unbelievable small lift - disaster if you are the slightest bit agrophobic. Expensive

Staff were very helpful. The decor is quirky old England - very pleasant and relaxing. Breakfast is good. Traffic outside is constant and bad - difficult to sleep; bring ear plugs! Food is very average and over-priced.

The location was excellent, next to the Lancaster Gate tube station (less than a 2 minute walk). Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The area is safe and quiet. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, which runs very late and takes you to the heart of the major tourist attractions. There is Hyde Park directly next door as well. I would highly recommend this hotel for location! The rooms were slightly dated, however, if location is important, this hotel delivers!

The hotel is cozy, well placed and has dedicated friendly staff. They do things like go into the kitchen to make you a sandwich in the middle of the night. The actual building is very old but the rooms are cozy if a little worn and the beds are comfortable. The Wifi works and is free. It also is nice because it is so clearly a very English hotel, unlike when you are staying in a Chain and could be in Japan just as well as London. It also has a very cozy pub right up the street facing the park with good food. It is also very nice to be able to go take a little evening walk in the park after work or a day out. Would highly recommend this hotel, both for the genuine atmosphere and for the location. The building is a honestly ancient and all the floors slope either up or down. The rooms are full of furniture and nick-nacks, We enjoyed this but some people might not

The warm welcome by staff, the beautiful decorated room, though furniture had seen better days. Room was comfortable and warm. Breakfast was plentiful and again staff in the restaurant were very helpful. If there had been tea/coffee making facilities in the room this certainly would have made for a perfect weekend, rather than having to request in from the reception. When I have attended smaller establishments than this hotel there was tea/coffee making faclities in the room.

The breakfast supplement for a Full English was reasonable. The booking was for a double and we were given an "upgrade" to a luxury twin with two single beds pushed together. The room was next to the lift, the wardrobe was up a flight of eight steps with the bathroom down a further flight of three steps. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and no hot running water in the bathroom. The TV had about three channels.

The hotel is perfectly located for Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate underground station. The beds are comfortable and the hotel offers a 24 hour reception and room service. Although the hotel offers 24 hour room service, it would have been far nicer had the rooms been equipped with their own tea/coffee making facilities. This is the kind of feature one expects as standard; even low budget chains are equipped with this facility. Given the fact that this hotel was already punching above its weight in terms of room prices (which were hardly reflected in the tired decor), this didn't strike us as particularly welcoming or great value for money. Breakfast was a shambles. We were "served" by three different waitresses, none of whom managed to serve the coffee we (and several surrounding tables) ordered. Eventually my partner had to go over and remind them. Clearly, Bayswater must have some sort of coffee shortage. Food was adequate, leaving was a pleasure; not the birthday surprise we'd envisaged for my mother-in-law.

Good location and reasonable tariff. Also good parking facility at fair price. No tea making facilities in room. Room very warm couldn't turn down one radiator - (valve top missing) had to open window slightly then it was a bit noisey from road outside but bearable.

Convenience for transport (bus stop right outside the main door, tube station 2 mins walk). Reception, dining room and domestic staff are all very professional, helpful and thoroughly welcoming. Room (twin + ensuite shower) comfortable, clean and well maintained. Lack of coffee/tea tray a little unusual these days but certainly not a problem. Continental breakfast excellent (cooked looked ok too). Overall, we were delighted throughout our 3 night stay and would certainly return.

Lovely place, great romantic feeling. Very good breakfast, friendly staff. Room was slightly small but charming. No, water boiler or tea in the room, the shower was a little bit difficult since you cannot move around the shower head, but these are definitely minor issues to me. Loved the place.

A very quaint hotel, good location Lacked a little lustre...furnishings were a little worse for wear and the breakfast wasn't great, and having to eat on a very small table in the bar wasn't an ideal start to the day.

Very convenient location for the tube. Heating was full on and as radiator valves were broken, couldn't turn off. Opening the windows was an option but then had the city traffic noise. Couldn't accommodate an early breakfast so toast and coffee in reception wasn't exactly what was wanted considering a full day of conference ahead.

We stayed for one night. We'd booked a deluxe double room but upon arrival were upgraded to junior suite, which was absolutely gorgeously furnished. The breakfast room looked a little faded, but they served a wide variety of pastries that were ridiculously good. The whole hotel is decorated with an antique touch making it very romantic. The location couldn't be any better what with being directly in front Hyde Park and a 2 minute walk from Lancaster Gate Station on the Central Line. It's also a 8 minute walk from Paddington Station, which made our return journey to Heathrow Airport quite easy.

Very close to Tube and Hyde Park. Functional, friendly staff You pay for the location with this hotel: the room was fairly basic. Somewhat stuck in a 1950's timewarp, its quirkiness was rather quaint. Breakfast was standard and unexciting but reasonable value.

“The Mornington included a breakfast in the price of the room. The breakfast was very nice indeed and really set us up for the day. If we had been paying for a breakfast separately I'm sure it would have been £10 or £15 each per day. Also the hotel was situated very close to the Lancaster Gate tube station and we were also able to walk across Hyde Park to get to Harrods etc.” Jeff, Newtownards |
