The Mytton and Mermaid is a splendid Grade II-listed building on the bank of the River Severn, England’s longest river. Its fantastic restaurant has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes.

Should be able to have breakfast on our own, not be forced to sit with a group of strangers.
Peace, independence, being near but not in Church Stretton, wonderful views. Friendly staff, one of whom welcomed us at 2.15 a.am.
Excellent location, excellent breakfast with a choice of hot food cooked to order, great facilities for walkers with a well appointed "Boot Room". It was a nice addition to have a selection of games that visitors could use such as Scrabble

Self catering lodge clean, just right size for a couple. Hotel facilities available near by if required. Wi-fi excellent at the lodge.
There was nothing we did not like, other than the time went to quick!
Everything from the staff to the food to the accommodation , it was a perfect stay in total.
The sign on the main road for the hotel was easily missed. Needed to be bolder in colour. Ended up in the next village asking for directions.
Bungalow was compact but with all we needed for the weekend. Nice area outside to sit in the summer. Heating was very good especially in the bathroom. Able to park right outside the bungalow. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the hotel was very good.
The food at Breakfast and Dinner was very good with plenty of choice. The bedroom and bathroom were both of a good size and very clean
The hotel was in a great position for our weekend break with the car, halfway between Ludlow and Shrewsbury, the two places we had wanted to visit. Both were well worth it. We stayed in one of the self catering chalets, about 100 yards from the hotel. It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and we would not hesitate to stay again, for a longer time.
The bed was ok but not great. Wi-Fi wasn't working the night we arrived.
The location is lovely. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Food was great.
We were pleased that the could accommodate the requests we made
Excellent accommodation well equipped & lovely surroundings
The only thing wrong during our stay was that WiFi was down , apart from that everything was spot on !
The location is awesome , it is a trek to walk to from the town but easy enough in a car. The views are brilliant and the food was divine . Our suite was spacious , well equipped comfortable and clean , home from home.
Wifi was down, our room was already booked but was sorted out straight away.
We did have a booking problem but the staff member at reception was great in sorting it out and delivered what he promised.
very comfortable room and good breakfast
Having to leave and go back home!!!
Everything - location is superb, foot of Longmynd and total peace and quiet. Lots of local places of interest and great local inns and food. The lodges at the hotel are like a home from home - everything you could want. Staff always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended
Bedrooms were over heated
The location and a room with views over to Caradoc. Chatting to other guest who were part of a holiday group!
The hotel seems to cater mainly for special interest holiday groups. On the Saturday night we stayed only a buffet meal was available due to a large walking group staying so we had to find somewhere else for dinner. The bedroom was dated and needed refurbishing.
The bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a good breakfast.
the chalet and the food at the hotel
Although we took all meals in the hotel, we thought the cutlery, china and kitchen equipment would have been woefully inadequate had we decided to self cater.
Dog welcome in chalet. Hotel and grounds exactly what we wanted. Restaurant excellent with happy, enthusiastic, staff.
Maybe an update to the decor but keeping with the old feel. Arrangements for breakfast could be better so you know where to sit and which table breakfast is for you. The evening dinner menu was not tempting after we had planned to dine in the hotel. having a more homely choice of traditional food would be good for us.Would stay again and make more use of the lovely pool area and hopefully will have a better menu by that time.
The location, the old fashioned feel to the hotel. Beautiful decor in the bar area, lovely clean and welcoming pool.
Lack of option to settle balance on arrival by means of payment other than the card used to guarantee the booking.
Comfortable lodge. Helpful staff.
Lack of staff at reception the room was not what we booked
The food was excellent the service good
Proved impossible to alter a booking by contacting the hotel itself - had to do everything through Booking.com. Booked 4 rooms and all charged to my personal credit card without checking with me first. Reception was unable to provide me with a detailed breakdown of the account - had to go through head office - still waiting !
Comfortable accommodation and very good value for money. Excellent centre for walking. First class breakfasts. Very obliging staff - very happy to arrange local taxis.
This time was very different. The a la carte menu had been dropped for a very poor buffet style evening meal which was not in any way worth £24 per person that we were charged. The room we stayed in has not been refurbished since the mid 80's. The hotel now seems to be catering for ramblers (we had no problem with this) but it meant we were put in the breakfast area & not the main restaurant area & the staff seemed at a loss as what to do with us as we weren't part of a group. The evening meat time was 7.30pm, one sitting & no leeway. Very disappointed.
Helpfull staff. The breakfast was great. The location is beautiful. We have stayed at the longmynd twice before (the first time was 15 yrs ago on our honeymoon) & thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
