Convenient location to the long mynd valleys. We could go from the hotel and access the trails very easily. Hotel was within easy reach of the town centre and main shops. Mattress in Room 8 was a bit lumpy and possibly has reached the end of its life.

Good location, the exterior is a bit dilapidated but the interior has been improved and the grounds are interesting. Have stayed here previously with a walking group and found the service very good which is why I selected this for an overnight stay.

The hotel is in a charming location which was good value for the price we paid however it is need of refurbishment and I would not be happy if I had paid the full tariff for the room. I was very unhappy that they earmarked £300 against our room (£105) which was not returned to me on departure and was told 3 days later that this would not be released for another week.I Would not stay at this place again for that reason.

Located on a hillside overlooking Church Stretton and the surrounding countryside, the Longmynd has the ambience of a grand Victorian hotel. If a disco is scheduled for the night of your stay, you might want to request a room in a quieter part of the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay but felt the hotel was past its best and needed updating a bit.It was also extremely hot which made us a little uncomfortable. The service at dinner lacked finesse in as much as we felt the waitress could have taken a bit more care in the presentation of our meal. We both had wine marks under our glasses and she managed to drop a knife. Otherwise everyone was very pleasant and the location is superb. We would stay there again

Ideal location. Revist from trip from many years ago. Very enjoyable. Rooms maintained at quite a hot temperature which made it difficult to sleep. Could see no way to turn down the temperature of the room.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The views over the valley are lovely and with 11 acres of grounds there is plenty of space to enjoy.

I arrived late at night and they were waiting for me. Courtesy complete. Very comfortable room and excellent value. It is in an extremely beautiful location with stunning view. I will return for a longer break in the spring. I liked the fact that the hotel is comfortable, but not ostentatious in its decor. The building itself is elegant and the management have not imposed artificial elegance on top of this.

Great location with beautiful views from the breakfast room (restaurant). This room, itself, was beautiful. Peaceful setting. Friendly staff. Good value for what we paid for the room, though we didn't realise before making the booking that breakfast was not included in the price. Arriving back at the hotel at 1045pm we found we were locked out and had to telephone the hotel to be told what the door security code was in order to get in through their front door. At that time the bar was already closed. We were told next day that if we'd left our keys at the reception they would have known we were out and someone would have been there to let us back in. However, when checking in, the staff at Reception were aware that we would not be dining with them that evening but no-one mentioned how to get back in when we went out. Breakfast (Full English) was a little overpriced in my view.

The newly upgraded room ( they are nearly finished upgrading all of their rooms it seems) was in fact a suite. A lounge room,a bedroom with 4 poster bed and a large en-suite bathroom. Some great walking starting at the hotel doorway.Lots of maps and guides available to buy in the hotel shop ( at a decent price we thought). Interesting trails, with sculptures, in the hotel grounds. Very dog friendly ( the Red Deer sculpture really spooked him in the dark! Much growling.) Bar had two good local real ales. The large coach party of elderly people all taking breakfast at the same time seemed to rather swamp the staff but this was only a minor quibble. Watch the plates that are set out for the self service cooked breakfast. They are seriously hot!

Primarily the reason for our choice was the fact that this is a dog friendly hotel, however you would not know this as the hotel is spotless and no doggy odours. l cannot fault the cleanliness and service. The heat in the hotel in general and the room despite turning off the radiator and opening the windows was virtually unbearable almost stiffling. On the contrary this is not something you would normally have cause for complaint, I suppose this is catering for the mainly elderley clients.
