Just a short walk from Lake Windermere, Lonsdale House is in the village of Bowness-on-Windermere. The World of Beatrix Potter is a 5 minute walk away, and many popular walking, biking and climbing locations are easily reached by foot. Lonsdale features a well-stocked bar and guest lounge, with free board games and a fiction library. All rooms have private bathrooms and have free toiletries and refreshments. Owners Andrew & Kate were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and Andrew was refreshingly enthusiastic about the Hotel. I think that the fact of the Hotel being full every night is a testament to it's success. Would definitely recommend other visitors.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location was fantastic and booking at such short notice, we were apprehensive about the standard, however, it was a lovely place and we will be returning very soon.

Lovely friendly welcome. Room sizes were very generous, very handy for walking into Bowness for shopping/dinner or to pick up the ferries to different resorts along the lake.

We had a warm welcome from the owner and a choice of bedrooms. The staff were polite and attentive. Within walking distance to the town. Excellent breakfast. The only thing we noticed was some of the chrome on the toilet roll holder, the soap holder in the shower and on the sink area was rusty

The location was excellent, only a 2 minute walk to the Lake. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable and very well maintained. The breakfast was excellent, service overall could not be beaten. I would certainly return here.

Our stay at Lonsdale House was excellent. In all my Hotel stays I have not come across Staff as efficient, polite or as helpful as these. The breakfasts were first class, and I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

The hotel staff was very friendly! Although our room was quite small but it was well decorated, very clean and comfortable. They also added an extra small bed in the room at no extra cost to accomodate us! Always happy to help us and give us advice where to go and what to visit. Perfect location, with free parking spaces (even london is better in finding free parking!). Overall perfect! We promised ourselves that we will visit the place again...

Very relaxing place to stay, very friendly and helpful staff who have extensive knowledge of the area and activities. Child friendly with a relaxed lounge and bar area. A selection of DVD's are available should the weather keep you inside.

My wife and I had a woderful fortnight staying at the Lonsdale, with excellent and very friendly staff, Ideal location for all leisure activities, less than 10min stroll to Windermere Lakeside,,,on the doorstep for shops and Dining out. will go again soon.

We enjoyed everthing , the breakfast was delishish and very filling , our family room was lovley with the four paster beb . we will be coming back thank you . The children enjoyed the lounge with all the games to play with .

A warm welcome, and friendly staff. The room we had was ok but could have done with a little freshing up, but for what we paid good all round value. The breakfast in the morning was exellent, again the staff where friendly and took to chat, and you could eat and drink as much as you wanted. nothing

Was absolutely fine, there is however a wide range of accommodation around Windermere so trying your luck somewhere else might get a slightly better or worse place at the same price.

The staff were wonderful. Polite and courteous at all times with big smiles, even early in the morning! I couldnt open the window in our room which made the evening quite uncomfortable as a result. Fresh air a must please!
