Friendly welcome, especially bar staff. Great real ale. Pleasant and comfortable room. Good quality evening meal in bar. Breakfast could have been better. Weak coffee, flabby toast, pre-cooked eggs.

staff all very friendly, clean and fresh looking rooms. breakfast was good no wifi located ,whilst staying in the lodge . -too far to walk ,especially as our room was located right at the far end . would of been nice if there was a nearer exit. I think it would of been nice to have had a few of the blinds up in the breakfast room, as it was quite a nice day.

In a good location with free parking on site and only a 10 min walk into town. A nice warm room with a good size TV and a modern bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the bar was good. Breakfast was on until 9.30 we came down at 9.15 and there were no staff around and no clean tables no glasses or bowls for cereal. A waitress came in after a few minuets and cleared a table for us. Food was ok.

Staff in the bar were excelent, supportive and helped with questions. The lodge is not what you would expect from the advert - we booked because of the discription of the main building. To be fair it was mentioned that we would/could be in the lodge but it doesn't tell you it is a modern building with poor beds, showers that dont push out water more than a dribble, and right next to a main road so when the window is open its quite traffic noisy. It is more like a travel lodge and to be frank I have stayed in better budget hotels. There was a wedding on as well so it wasnt the most relaxing, children running around. I feel they should let others know when booking that a wedding is on, its not fair to other guests.

Location is good and staff helpful and friendly. I know the Hotel was in the middle of refurbishment but we have stayed several times in the past and attention to detail is always what lets it down compared with other less starred Hotels. Breakfast is lacking in variety especially for non meat eaters and could be more imaginative.

Breakfast in the conservatory. The room was too hot, and despite complaining nothing was done after our first night's disturbed sleep. Leaving the window open was worse with the road noise outsite at night! The bathroom was tired and shabby, and the water pressure and shower inadequate. TV and remote weren't working well together. Having to walk past smelly open bins on the way from the Lodge to the main hotel for breakfast.

Having stayed at this hotel previously we were looking forward to revisiting and staying in the hotels Abbey Suite again .Workmen in rooms below our suite on arrival using drills and sledgehammers. Not advised of upgrading to hotel until I saw a notice stuck on a fire door at the entrance to the rooms.Very noisy had to ask for another room and even then still had noise from a type of extractor unit on walls outside windows. New room was a new "upgraded" room so called "suite" by the manager. Dismayed to find a coat rack in so called Lounge area which had to be used as a wardrobe as the new room didn't have one ?No information on Shrewsbury at all in the hotel. Seemed more interested in Business than visitors.

The food was excellent and for the quality provided was extremely good value. The room had been newly decorated and was very comfortable. Good bathroom and shower facility. Staff very pleasant. Location was good as the town was only about 15 minutes walk away. Good parking facilities. Lovely newly decorated room but nowhere to hang up your clothes (i.e. no wardrobe facility). Had someone forgotten about this in the refurbishment?

Staff very helpful, room perfect, lovely decor and the hotel has a splendid welcoming atmosphere, particularly important as a lone female traveller. Hotel very well situated for walking (or bus) into Shrewsbury for shops and evening. Could not fault Lord Hill. Would highly recommend it.

The gentleman who took our meal booking was really professional and polite without being either posh or matey. A difficult balancing act. I booked on line and was quoted £57, when we arrived at reception we were told that the price was £75. No negotiation was possible. A bit miffed at that but as we were in the company of the people giving the party we didn't make a fuss. Don't push your luck on this scam in the future.
