Toilet did not flush, hot water turned on full for warm shower, window did not close, property is very old could use TLC
staff helpful, bed comfortable good amount of hot water for showering, bedroom and bathroom serviced well each day new towel soap etc replaced each day A old type premises with worldly charm. Hotel as it own car park which is locked at night, near to all the local requirements to visit within walking distant. we enjoyed the stay four days
need I good update in deco breakfast cost was high side front bedroom can be noisey (that life) able to see the night life Lift on the small size put worked ok
Food not bad
Rooms small, beds small and very hard
The food was good, the location excellent, as it was close to shops and castle. The staff very friendly and helpful. The room we had on the first floor was clean and comfortable.
Slightly shabby appearance of furniture, wallpaper etc., but then this is a big, old hotel.
Breakfasts really good
Sleeping in a very traffic-noisy front bedroom which was really hot. however an electric fan was supplied.
I was not happy with the room I booked a standard room from the picture on the internet it stated standard room the room we were given was nothing like the room I thought I booked in the picture I was not happy
Very Clean with family touches
Carpark is provided with convenient access.
The Hotel is a bit old.
We booked this hotel due to location & price. The hotel itself looked lovely from the outside very quaint. When we got to our room we turned the light on which seconds after turning it off made a terrible grinding noise! we had no cold water & when we turned the hot water tap on, brown water poured out!! we thought it might have been due to the room not being used? but the brown water persisted, I spoke to the night staff but they didn't really want to help just told us to not turn the light on & leave the tap running until it cleared. Every floor board creaked, even next doors when they came into their room at 1am. We also had to watch out (as we couldn't put the light on) for a nail sticking up from the carpet metal bar near the toilet.
Very average room overlooking walls. Very noisy fan going much of the time.
renovation too old
The hotel was centrally located and convenient. Staff were in general very friendly and the bedding was spotless. Price of the room compensated somewhat for failings.
Rooms and fittings were very tired. The hotel was built in the 1700's and the picture rails and hanging cobwebs looked as though the room hadn't been dusted since the hotel was built
It smelt of damp and bathroom tiles loose around sink. Bedroom floor creaky. Curtains old. Windows dirty. Poor view. In need of renovation.
Cold shouwer after 2 times asking, television was not working properly.
Room good size and bed comfy
Turned hot water booster on when we arrived, after 3 hours i still had cold shower with little water pressure. My partner had a hot shower by the next morning. Alot of traffic noise at night including several ambulance, then road workers at 6am, made worse because our window would not close.
This is and old hotel, with lots of character so don't expect loads of mod-cons but with it you do get really good value for money a great location and the staff were really accommodating.
couldn't get television to work...a blessing! location was perfect and quitestaff were very helpful with storing my wifes medication and putting our minds at rest
a bit shabby- could do with a make over
Location of hotel. Parking available on site.
Very tired fixtures and fittings. Cold shower even after running water for 10 minutes. Room noisy overlooking main road to front and make sure it hasn't a connecting room.
location car parking
horrible smell from bathroom and general smell of damp in corridors, toilets on ground floor stank also. room not cleaned until afternoon, dirty laundry letf out in corridor for hours. Hotel very tired and shabby
The location as it was close to the castle.
Outside noice. Started at 7am. A chainsaw.
breakfast location staff early check in
room looked dated and dirty bath was not clean
Location excellent Great character Spacious room
Room not serviced 2 days in a row. Notified reception on first day and still no one came. When finally done, found a towel inside the bed
I work away a lot and stay hotels all over the country this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in great location. room was dirty and the noise coming from the road outside was so bad we were up at 05.30 every morning BAD BAD and shower did not work nor did the television GUTTED
