Dating from 1898, this wonderful hotel commands a majestic location, nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, providing a spectacular view across Swanage Bay and Pevril Point.
Score from 310 reviews Good
Stunning sea views are offered at this cliff-top hotel overlooking Swanage Bay. With private steps down to the beach, The Pines provides free parking and full English breakfasts.
Score from 583 reviews Very good
The Castleton Hotel is set on Swanage’s seafront, just 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre and pier.
Score from 31 reviews Superb
This Victorian townhouse offers bright, modern rooms, located just 5 minutes’ walk from Bournemouth’s award-winning beach.
Score from 320 reviews Good
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, historic building, tranquil surroundings in the heart of town.
The décor of the main building is a bit gloomy, perhaps by trying to use Victorian-style wallpaper. Lighten it up!
A very peaceful and quiet hotel.
Very little atmosphere. The foreign staff did not really interact with guests which would have been nice
Not having any planes going over my head, the central position, the closeness to the beach
The shower - it doesn't give you control where the water goes.
Staff were friendly, place is so near the seafront and handy for walks and Swanage itself. The hotel is stunning
Friendly Staff Comfortable bed Good breakfast
Room was not very clean - lots of cobwebs and bathroom floor quite stained.
Room was comfortable and clean, hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was clean and the location good for the town
The decor was very dated in the Louisa Lodge and the breakfast wasn't great.
nice location (5 min from the seafront) rooms are clean and good breakfast.
Location to the town centre and the beach excellent lovely grounds polite staff nice clean room would recommend to others will definitely book again
Bed was a little bit uncomfortable but not to bad
Lovely gardens, spacious, good position, good sea view
Room fittings very dated Breakfast is awful
building historical, scenery, garden, nature.
no safe in the rooms we had to carry our belongings with us.
A lovely friendly hotel, well located within easy walk of shops, sea and restaurants breakfast good and beds very comfy. Sea view was wonderful.
location and character of hotel and friendly staff
Rooms in the Louisa Lodge are very poor acoustically - constant banging of neighbours doors and tv were loud enough to kept us awake and I am usually a heavy sleeper. The fire doors are heavy and if left to bang can really be heard especially if next door.
Lovely old building, close to town.Ample parking, friendly staff, rooms clean and adequate. lovely gardens to wander around, ideal spot to stay if visiting Swanage.
Liked it all.....
Location and grounds Food good
Very dated and we were in the new building which was decorated like the old one. Bed dipped in middle so found ourselves both rolling towards it during night
Being in the town centre with parking
Was very run down had seen better days
Lovely location and building, we liked the lodge very much and the gardens surrounding. All the staff were very freindly and helpful.
Only a very minor negative, it's obvious with an old building that it takes a lot of up keep, the pavillion was looking slightly jaded with so many misty windows.
We were very impressed by this hotel, not only for the location but the general appearance and cleanliness. Would definitely stay again
Location was perfect, the old house and conservatory looked great had a good old time feel about it, the lodge has been done to a good standard, gardens well kept and still being maintained.
brochures / leaflets, out of date, last years still on display.
Comfort away from home, when we holiday we like to be spoiled. Staff where very good.
1. The well appointed, spacious room in Louisa Lodge (no.39). 2. The precious advantage of car parking in Swanage town centre. 3. The historic nature of the main building and gardens. 4 Friendly service all round
1. We were very lucky to have a room well away from the Saturday night wedding disco.... 2. The bland sliced bread for self-toasting at breakfast. 3. The gardens could be quite splendid and a real draw if they were a bit smarter (ok so this was mid-March, but they ARE potentially a really big attractive feature). 4. The evening meal was just a little 'tired' and culturally too British in presentation (is a side dish of steamed potatoes and mixed veg really necessary with beef stroganoff?!) and didn't quite live up to the splendid setting of the dining room. 5 Upholstery in very atttractive lounge is worn and needs replacing.
helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and quite surroundings, good location.
Free wi fi and tea making facilities. General ambience was congenial.
Dining room not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. No table coverings for tables better covered! Breakfast was excellent !!
Location. Facilities and comfort. The room was spacious with generous size en suite bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. My Granddaughter liked the iPhone docking station, TV and good choice of tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities in the room. The Full English and selection for Continental Breakfast was very good and enjoyable.....
