All of the en suite accommodation offers either sea or garden views, and is divided between the main Purbeck House (constructed in 1875) and the recently built Louisa Lodge, which sits mere metres away.

Occupying 3.5 acres of land, the grounds and site buildings incorporate many artifacts acquired from London by George Burt, one of the founders of the Mowlem construction company and the house’s creator.

With a large car park, and both a restaurant and bar in the main house, this is an excellent base from which to explore Swanage and the sights of the Jurassic Coast, with Bournemouth just 24 km (15 miles) away.

The surrounding National Trust countryside is renowned as an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the Isle of Purbeck golf course with its 9 and 18-hole courses features superb views over Studland and Poole Harbour. Explore the 47 mile Purbeck Cycleway with its spectacular views.

The bay is popular for a variety of watersports and is widely recognised as being an excellent base for diving. The famous Monkey World is only 20 minutes’ drive from Swanage.

Travel information

From Wareham, follow the a351 to Corfe Castle and then to Swanage Town Centre. This road becomes Victoria Avenue, follow it towards the sea front and then, 50 yards before you get to the sea, turn right at the traffic lights and left at the roundabout into Station Road. Follow the one way system round before turning left into the High Street after the White Swan Public House. Purbeck House Hotel is 100 yards up on the left.
