An easy to reach hotel within walking distance of the town centre. Quiet clean and spacious room. Breakfast was delicious; freshly cooked and offering a wide range of choices in a spacious restaurant with comfy seats and banquettes. Didn't eat there for dinner as the menu looked lack lustre, but found an excellent restaurant in Perth (10 minutes walk away) called The Bothy which was fantastic. Apart from the restaurant, the hotel needs updating, but that was reflected in the price, so I had no complaints and would return.

The friendliness of the staff made our stay enjoyable. The location was good for us too. We felt that there was no need for heating in our room. On arrival people could turn radiators on.

It is located a few minutes walk from city centre where a pleasant walk after a hearty breakfast is good. • Ample parking space. • Do not need to use car to get to centre. Quite pricey for meals compared to oher hotels in near vacinity. • Hotel feels tired in need of refurbihment especially the stair carpet which is threadbare at edge of every step > this will become dangerous shortly and needs urgent attention

The staff When booking this hotel I looked at the website to look at the pictures of the hotel because I am not a fan of the older looking hotels and with the pictures it made the hotel look modem and stylish. The day we arrived in Perth after 6 hours on the train, we took a taxi and arrived at the Lovet Hotel, Perth. The receptionist was happy and very welcoming, which was very pleasant. After the train journey we got to the hotel just after 2pm we were aware that we couldn’t check in until 4pm however we asked if the room was ready which it was so she let us check in early, which was fantastic after the long journey. Our room was in a part of the hotel that to me felt like an old house next to the hotel. We were told the way to get to the room was up the stairs and then down the stairs back to ground floor, this was not easy with your bags, however she also said an easier route which was to go out side and around to the side of the hotel to what was called the white door, so obviously we took the easy route, luckily it was a dry day but if it had been raining it would not of been pleasant. This part of the hotel was called the ‘Villa’ a message to the wise if you have to book this hotel STATE that you do not want to be in the villa, as it felt like miles away from the hotel, you could not pick up the WIFI signal and if you were out past 11pm you had to got all the way through the hotel, inconvenient if you had been out that night as it was a lot of stairs up and down. Whilst walking around the hotel there were wires tied in bundles all round the ceilings we were later told that they were for a new fire alarm system, this immediately concerned me as it gave me the impression that the existing fire alarm was either faulty or not working. Room 226 We opened the door to a room that had an extremely strong smell of paint so the first thing we did was to open the window.

Breakfast was really excellent, and the staff attentive. We were out all day on the Saturday, returning at 5pm, but our room had not been made up, the bed unmade. Also, if putting guests in a shower- only room it is encumbent upon you to have a good shower, Ours produced a poor trickle with very low pressure from a really cheap plastic shower- head. It was unacceptable in a modern hotel. You do not have space for a pool, but what about a steam room or sauna?

I was familiar with the Lovat Hotel around 15years ago when I used to visit Perth regularly. As we were attending a wedding nearby I chose the Lovat. The staff we friendly and the food was very good, but the furnishings and fittings in the room were tierd and shabby. I would not choose this Hotel in the future.

Room was cramped, not up to three star quality. There was hardly room to pass each other. You could hardly avoid bumping in to the wall- mounted iron when entering or leaving the room. The en-suite was like a broom-cupboard and the shower was very poor.with controls outside the cubicle. It seems to have been installed by an amateur. The staff we met did not appear to be the slightest bit interested in the visitors. The breakfast was adequate but again the waitress was not very chatty. No one seemed to care whether we enjoyed our stay or not.The hotel looked in need of refurbishment----especially the stair carpet which was worn in many places.

Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed having high tea on Sunday. Being able to use the leisure facilities at nearby best western queens was also very enjoyable. The hotel could do with a bit of updating such as a new carpet on the stairs and also the toilets dont flush very well
