The room was large and the bathroom extremely good. Food was very good and the breakfast particularly so. The views from the dining room were wonderful

The staff could be more outgoing and the bar could be more inviting

Brilliant location for walking and dining out, either at Hotel or 2 Pubs within 2 minutes walk

Quite noisy from residents above in The Lodge, due to creaky floorboards/ceilings.

Comfortable bed and friendly informative staff.

Ants in the bathroom and some in the main room and the walls were paperthin. We could hear everything from the room upstairs, it was a good thing we were on a hiking holiday as we were too tired to care.

The restaurant is cosy and nice. The interior of the main building is warm and appealing.

There were some stray-dogs around the area.

The location, in October this is a nice quiet area - you could even hear the Owls hooting in the evening.

    Not a lot really!

The location is excellent, the interior & exterior is of very high quality, very tastefully designed, gorgeous bar, dining room. Although we did not eat there in the evening, i really liked the dining room menu. Definitely a treat for weary walkers, and celebrations. The breakfast was top quality, lots of juices, coffee toast etc, the choice of cooked breakfast was good. The views of the area through the windows in dining room and our bed room were amazing. Its so quiet and unspoilt. Really lovely place.

A warm welcome would have been nice on arrival having just spent 7 hours scrambling up and down scafell pike. we were so pleased to arrive at such a beautiful place, location and environment. however it was just a brief "here is the room key, will you be eating here ?" and alas no "goodbye have a safe journey", on leaving. But maybe its just me. Hospitality what would i know! I would definitely come again as the location and standard of accomodation outweigh the cons for me.

View from hotel. Breakfast was good.

To get hot water takes too long. Rooms need good dusting. Meals are expensive. Basin in bathroom too small. Walk from car park uphill. Clothes from previous guest still in linen cupboard.
