I booked the hotel as it was my birthday. Whilst I was there my partner had proposed to me In the Lake District. This was made aware to the staff who had got us a lovely card, chocolates and balloon for our recent engagemnet. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and they had decorated our table. A lovely gesture and made our stay event more memorable

The room was comfortable but just a little 'tired' not enough to put us off but the some parts of the hotel need a little tlc!

The bed was really comfortable Every single one of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Our stay was too short, could have stayed for a week there quite easily.

Our room was a long way from the entrance/ reception, restaurant. The room must have been 100mtrs away. Several flights of stairs to get to the room. The room we stayed in is in need of refurbishing. The room looked quite old.

Fantastic view over the lake after I requested a lake view room. Very comfy huge bed. Very relaxing bar and good food. Highly recommendable.

Bathroom was very cold despite the heating being on. But then it was a very cold eve.

I left behind a shirt in my room and called in 2 days later to find out if they had found it.They had and kindly had my shirt in a bag to keep clean.

Having to go outside from the bar area to the bedroom as it was -2 outside.

Stayed for 2 nights 8-10th March to celebrate my husband's 30th & our Anniversary. Upon check-in was greeted with a very warm welcome and luxurious surroundings. Had booked to stay in a Classic Lake View room- the room we were allocated was awful, they re-allocated us to a secong lake view room, that too was awful.Had to listen to my gut instinct to return to reception a 3rd time again let them know of my dissapointment, it was such a special weekend that I had planned, and I was starting to wish we hadnt booked to stay there.Yet again, and without any hesitation, Debbie- Reception, kindly offered us a free up- grade to a Feature Room- Lake View, room 42. Upon entering the room I was immediately bowled away by the beautiful, elegant decor & furniture etc, and the most wonderful lake view- it was absolutely perfect- we had arrived! We made use of all the wonderful leisure facilities, and dined both evening in the hotels restaurant- the food and service was superb! We had a lovely, magical stay, once we had settled in a room that had met our expectations, and was worth the money I have paid for our stay. Would definately recommend, and will return. Thanks to all the staff, all were very friendly and professional.If we would have had to stay in one of the 2 rooms we were 1st allocated, it would definately not have been value for money, therefore I base my ratings reflecting this. Have to add that a lovely young man, one of the porters called Ken, was a pleaseure to meet, nothing was too much trouble, he was a joy and made our stay special. Room Tip: Rooms 42 & 50 were wonderful.

Had pre-booked a Lake View Classic room, however, upon entering the room was quite dissapointed by the small size, and drab & dated decor(room14), shabby mix & max furniture. Stale & was unclean in parts. Went to reception and asked if we could have another room, without hesitation was relocated to another lake view Classic room. Again, upon entering the room was disappointed for all the same reasons as above, in addition the double was 2 x twin beds put together(room 163), there were spashes of dirt on the walls and the lightshades we stained and dirty.If we would have had to stay in one of the 2 rooms we were 1st allocated, it would definately not have been value for money, therefore I base my ratings reflecting this. Rooms 14 & 163 were very basic and somewhat stale- in my opinion considereing what we had paid, they were awful, the Lake Views whilst lovely, didnt compensate for the shabby rooms we were 1st allocated.

Comfortable save hard pillows! Clean and tidy. Hotel staff friendly particularly the cleaners. Plenty of car parking.

Breakfast - pale. Not cooked to expectations. Would have liked fresh cooked poached eggs. Salmon and cold dry cooked scrambled eggs not good, it was advertised as creamy eggs cooked to request but was from the standing display and were not nice. No plates out for meats and cheese - could be better selection. Spa staff not happy and tended to ingnor customers with rooms in the spa area. I did not use the restaurant as I avoid all hotel restaurants. (Reasons given on request). Perhaps I will avoid breakfast in future also.

We had a linked room with a dividing door which offered no sound insulation so that we could hear the family next door !

I like the facilities available through the Leisure Club. Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

The wife had reservations about the room and whether it had been cleaned properly; she identified a number of areas where dust was present over a couple of days. On our final night we also had a note pushed under the door suggesting that we might wish to attend breakfast earlier because of the numbers that would be attending breakfast on the Saturday morning! That same morning we also had a knock on the door from the cleaner at 0815 who wanted to clean the room; neither of these events made for a relaxing conclusion to our stay.

The spa my children loved the hot tub.the rooms were very nice.the location the views were fantastic.

There wasn't anything we didn't like,maybe the only thing that would have been nice is that they served breakfast later we didn't have this because we wanted to use the spa before haven't to check out.

Confusing information about wiifi use in room breakfast was self service and not hot enough

The friendly staff welcomed us and ensured that we had everything we needed at regular intervals. The room was spotless and kept that way. The Spa was clean and well maintained.

Hotel is all stairs with no lifts! Our room was in the spa side which meant a long trek up and down many stairs if we were not in by 10pm when the main spa doors closed. In the Spa, the staff were not vigilant of children who were jumping in shallow water (very dangerous) or using the hot tub under 8 years old. Also, the changing area in the spa was cold and not as clean.
