I enjoyed being welcomed by the friendly staff with tea and coffee. The room was very comfortable and the guest lounge was peaceful and relaxing. As I was running the great north run Linda, the owner, made our breakfast earlier so we could make it to Newcastle. Everything was excellent.

The room was very cosy which was just as well since the weather was poor. Laura, the owner? was ever so nice and obliging and the young lady who cleaned the rooms gave us all an X-factor experience as she went about her duties. All very sociable and friendly

The owners were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. The rooms were a little 'tired' and dated and the showers were like caravan shower cubicles .The sliding door into our bathroom was extremely noisy and could be heard in the room next door every time it was opened and closed.

The rooms are quite nice and the hotel itself is very comfortable. The hotel is in a 10 minutes walk from town. The bathroom quality is really poor we had such a low pressure on the shower we couldn't even wash our head. We ask them to solve the problem, they said that they will but they did not. Also we arrived to the hotel earlier than the checked in we asked them to keep our bags and they said they will store them. 12 hours later when we got back to the hotel the baggage remained where we had left them in the entrance where anyone could had taken them.

Richard and Laura are the perfect hosts and made us feel extremely welcome. Our room was very clean and comfortable, we enjoyed a pleasant night's sleep. The cosy snug bar was a bonus and lovely to sit and enjoy a drink before going out for dinner in the evening and the dining room was laid out very nicely with everything you could want at breakfast. The cooked breakfast was five star!

The welcome on a rainy evening was lovely. The owners knew my name and nothing was too much trouble. I stayed in the single room so it was not, by it's nature, the most luxurious but I asked to see some other rooms for future stays and they range from basic to luxurious so let them know what you want when you book. Sitting in the lounge was like going back in time. I only stayed one night but I enjoyed it. Lots of choice for breakfast. Big English looked good, if you are into that.

It was very friendly, nicely appointed and welcoming to cyclists which is more than your previous questions which seem not to consider cyclists at all, unlike Lowbyer which does!

I booked three rooms for our party. We had a lovely room, and access to the lounge and bar as well. Breakfast was fantastic, and I particularly liked being able to do my own toast when I wanted it. The hotel is in a good location on the outskirts of Alston, within walking distance of a pub and hotel where you could eat in the evening. Laura and Richard were very helpful. I left my house keys in a drawer and they were sent immediately I informed them.

Interesting building, good breakfast, pleasant proprietors. Bedroom was fairly small - but that was a function of the age of the building.

The staff were very accomodating with a cup of tea on arrival and given we had used the hotel as a base to see Take That in concert, they even had their music playing in the background for breakfast for us... Its the small details that make a stay worth repeating.

It's the best B&B I've stayed in for a long time. The breakfast was fabulous and the hosts are very friendly. I'd prefer a softer bed but everything else was excellent.

We visit the area regularly to see family and have stayed at a variety of hotels, B&Bs etc over 30 years. We are delighted to have discovered Lowbyer, and will return. It is dog friendly, comfortable, hospitable and charming in an informal way, and good value for money. We will certainly visit again. We hope that they will find a way to provide evening meals in the future, if their breakfast was anything to go by.

Quiet and secluded area to explore with red squirrrels on site, accomodation and staff superb, nothing too much bother to them. Other guests all our own age group 40-60 so no noise or disturbance. Room quaint and clean and breakfast spot on.
