Good location for Coast to Coast cycle ride and owners were extremely helpful and welcoming.

Second time we have stayed here, owner very understanding when I was a little late on parade. Excellent breakfast, there is nothing to better Lowbyer in Alston.

Quaint town in the middle of nowhere. Interesting old building. Very helpful and friendly owners. Good sausages from village butcher. Cosy comfortable guesthouse.

Limited choice of places to eat nearby - no dinner in hotel. Only a shower in our room - we like a bath.

The owners are particularly helpful and friendly and provided pre stay advice re local restaurants sending sample menus.

The showers are set at a very low pressure but this is a 'green hotel' so possibly this is to save energy and water.

Red squirrels in the garden! Lovely old house which has been well adapted as a country hotel. Warm welcome, thoughtful service, hearty and tasty breakfast. Slept well in a quiet room with a comfortable bed. Good value for money. Don't book here if you are expecting a 'boutique hotel' experience - this is traditional and homely.

Pressure/water flow from shower was a bit lacking - might be better on lower floors.

Very accomodating hotel staff. Standard of service was excellent. Choose this hotel because of good reviews and found that the comments were entirely justified. Excellent value for money, great breakfast. Dogs made to feel welcolm.

We enjoyed the great helpfulness of the owner, the documentation available for walks, the quality (and quantity) of breakfast. An excellent quality / price ratio.

It was a comfortable room in a quiet location. centra ocation made it suitable for visiting many attracions such as Hadrian;s Wall and the Beamish Museum. Breakfast was fine, and there wer a number of reasonable pubs where you can get a meal at good prices.

Very friendly and welcoming. Good value and within easy reach of the town centre. A nice quiet location ( my friends stayed in the centre and were kept awake by the local nightlife). A secure garage to store your bike.Would stay again if in the area.

Laura and Richard are excellent hosts. Laura was more than happy to let me see the other bedrooms as I have an interest in hand made quilts. A hotel with character. Rosemary Calder.

We were given a very friendly welcome, everything was in place and efficient and a cup of tea made all the difference. The ambiance was excellent, the bed the best of our trip. The breakfast was good and settliong the bill was straight forward. The hosts were wonderful.

The only problem was this with a bad back it was difficult getting our bags up the stairs.

Arrived to a warm welcome from the owner. The room was small but spotless The Hotel is only Bed & Breakfast, the owner recommended The Angel Inn just a short walk into Alston, good choice, as the food is excellent and it has a lovely country pub feel

Excellent service, I had pulled a muscle in my leg and they offered to drive us into town and back, room way very nice breakfast first class, will be keen to stop there again

An old original Inn continuing in the present day, very warm and welcoming.

The owner Laura was very friendly with excellent inter personal skills with guests.

Quiet location but within walking distance of town center. Range of places to eat. As we had a dog good walks from hotel.

The place was awesome, just what we needed after a long day cycling from workington (Alston was our halfway point of the C2C) Very friendly and welcoming.

voor een zeer acceptabel verblijf ontvangt u heel veer waarde terug. ( o.a. kamers, zeer vriendelijk personeel, goed eten)

Schitterende aude manor; zeer mooie kamer voorzien van alle comfort. Gelegenheid om rustig te lezen in een lounge, voorien van boeken, naslagwerken. s'Avonds kan men iets drinken in de bar. de eigenaars hebben getracht om het verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken, met oog voor kleine details. Zeer goed ontbijt
