Location. Bedrooms nice
Overpriced food and drink. Had much better food for fraction of price Also very slow bar service. Had to ask for toiletries which you would assume were provided at the price
The village setting and beautiful building Other rooms we saw, including one with jacuzzi The lived in, comfortable interior of hotel Walks nearby We could take our dog
Breakfast too fussy and small portions on buffet table Light from hall through glass window on door into room 'Stowe' (thin cloth) Dinner menu too expensive
Enjoyed the secluded location and the comfortable room. Food was excellent.
A minor negative! Although the staff were generally very helpful, we found that they needed to be more attentive in the restaurant.
I found the receptions rooms cold and unappealing
Staff were slow to help
Atmosphere, rooms, noise
location rooms restaurant Dinner was complimentary after one hour power outage Dinner outside on the river at prperty opposite
Second floor abnormally hot in heatwave .
great location for visting all lovely villages in Cotswolds (with very nice walk to Upper Slaughter) Nice facilities: cosy, comfortable bedroom and large bathroom; airy and pleasant dining room (wonderful dinner); nice service; nice gardens
no hot water one night and morning (we got a partial refund) TV broken down one evening Ridiculously small sink in bathroom and no mirror above it; lady's mirror on the side has no good lighting for make-up
Brilliant room - Valentine. Everything was perfect!
Room was spacious and clean, lovely Cotswold Village. Staff polite but rushed.
No tea or coffee facilities in room. No explanation of where to go for breakfast in the morning and ended up not getting any breakfast at all.
THE FOOD. OVER PRICED FOR THE MINUTE QUANTITES SERVED WE WENT OUT THE SECOND NIGHT WE THOUGHT THE FOOD WAS OVERPRICED FOR THE MINUTE QUANTITES SERVED THE SEVERAL STAIRS WERE A PROBLEM TO US AS THERE WERE NO LIFTS
The building and grounds were a lovely sight to see.staff are very helpful to make sure your stay is one to remember.
Our suite in the Stables area was very comfortable, spacious and well appointed.
Garden needs more work.
Morning coffee in room Room & view Excellent food
Room was too hot
A very special hotel. Idyllic location, amazing rooms and 'A-List' service that was second to none. I stay in a lot of hotels for business and leisure and this is the best hotel experience I have had - made for a perfect weekend.
Grounds are beautiful and good location to Cheltenham.
Breakfast I had an omelette and It was full of salt, not good really and food in house was very expensive. We went to Queens Head in Stow absolutely amazing food.
No sit down bar area. Bedroom great, bathroom large, but very drab and un-interesting.
Room generous. 400 years old. Breakfast!!
From the moment we got there we were met by the car to welcome us and take our luggage. Our room was upgraded free of charge. Staff were amazing.. Experience was second to none.. Even down to the personal touches like when we left for dinner and returned later the bed was turned down and the water was moved from the central table to the bedside table. I cannot fault a single thing.. Ten out of ten..
Nothing.. I cannot find a single fault with this hotel and the service we received.
excellent, attentive staff; extremely helpful food and presentation was amazing excellent wine selection ... and the sommelier looks like Dennis Quaid! very comfy bed quiet!!!
some of the decor is a bit ratty and the place could generally use a lick of paint. carpet down to restaurant needs replacement
Staff were friendly and attentive. They literally couldn't do enough for you. Although it's a VERY nice hotel there is no sign of "elitism" or people looking down their noses at you. All very laid back and friendly. The food was amazing, genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had
Friendly, helpful staff; spacious, luxurious bedroom/en-suite; beautifully presented, delicious food; roaring log fires; comfortable lounges
Rather slow service for Sunday breakfast
The greeting by the staff was very friendly, the tasting menu superb and service excellent.
Very quiet location and peaceful. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Will use this hotel again.
Hot water from a cold water tap!!
