Breakfast and price
Ease of location and options for quick travel all over London.
Some quite noisy groups waiting for coaches outside the building - at various times of the day.
great cheap bar in the basement, nice location, good price, breakfast, right by borough market, very nice for a few days sightseeing in london
The bankside is university halls, so prefect if u are a student...but if u want any sleep avoid! From the beds to breakfast, the true university experience...not worth the 100 plus pounds we paid..
If your after a place to stay that is easy to get around London this is the place as a main station is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
The 30 minutes wait for breakfast.
high value for money. excellent service.
the heater seems no function for a long time, first time it's smelly. plus, no mirror in room apart from one in toilet.
The location was perfect for restaurants, River Thames (and views across this river), the financial heart of London, a big breakfast was provided and a choice of either Full English or Continental. If you need a run in the mornings, the banks of the Thames are close by.
The shower control had a handle which is brought towards you to start the shower. The shower cubical was small and this shower control just at the correct height that you always ended up accidently switching it off (ie pushing it with you elbow).
You just cannot have better location in London for that price.
I was probably very unlucky to get a room with window directed toward some office building's maintenance gate. Starting at 5-6 a.m. it is impossible to sleep without earplugs due to many lorries getting in and out. Average breakfast.
Good value for money (for London). Truly excellent location, near Thames and Tate Modern Gallery. Breakfast was good. Water boiler, coffee and tea in room
The water in the room was not drinkable and no tap point nearby (which makes the water boiler in the room a bit less usable...). At night, quite a lot of people were talking in front of the hotel, and this is quite audible in the room (closing the window helped, though).
The location was wonderful and the rooms were basic, but very clean. The staff was very helpful, even when under the stress of having to attend to a multitude of guests. Breakfast included in the price.
The place was always crowded, and the other guests (mostly students) were sometimes noisy. Also, there was a lot of noise on Fridays and Saturdays from parties and events in the neighborhood.
Location was very good (right across from the Tate Modern and Thames; relatively short walk to the Tube). Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Nice English breakfast included (so we could hit the ground running first thing in the morning).
Maze-like layout and multiple heavy doors to get to room (guess that's just the way buildings that generally operate as student housing are laid out). Shower was so small that I kept turning off the water with my back whenever I turned around.
Proximity to sights. Good breakfast. Laundry available. Close to three stations, bridge over Thames.
That the cleaning staff disposed of our toiletries halfway through our stay! We were recompensed when we purchased new toiletries but could not find all we had lost in local shops. Massive inconvenience. Noisy plumbing sometimes a nuisance.
Location, value for money, size and comfort of room, breakfast.
Some late-night noise from fellow guests.
Swarms of youths blocking all corridors.
The location was good for both the station and the purpose of my visit with the thames just around the corner.
Nothing, it was much better than expected.
Excellent location. Basic accommodation but clean. Staff friendly.
. Real downside for me was the level of noise. Even on the higher floor there were younger guests running around chasing each other snd banging doors well into the early hours. Really disappointed by this as needed to be up early for an exam the following day. Think there should be more staff patrols/ noise checks for large groups. They really should flag up in their advertising that this is a very noisy hostel like accommodation set up, not a hotel.
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. When the washing machine card system didn't work, the manager even paid for me to do laundry. Breakfast was plentiful and the rooms were cleaned well everyday. I really had an exceptional experience on a budget. The value really could not be beat and the location was just awesome.
The condition of the rooms is great. We really liked the beds - they were really comfortable. The food was good as well. It was very convenient ot have a bar in the hotel. The staff was always helpful. The location is perfect.
The walls were thin and we could hear other people in the other rooms. The breakfast was the same every day and the 6-items menu was kind of strange and, in our opinion, unnecessary. The last day, the bar didn't open.
Accommodation reasonable at the price. Breakfasts very good if somewhat crowded.
Perfect location, easy reach of main attractions. Price, cheap and cheerful. Rooms are a decent size
They give the option of early check in when you book, which I took advantage of knowing that I would have spent 7hours travelling and would need to get some sleep. However, I rang up the day before my arrival to check that my room would be available for my arrival. I was told they had no record of any early check-ins that day, despite it saying so on my confirmation. I was told to come when I got to London and they make it a priority that my room was ready. I arrived and was told, very rudely that check in was at 3, after explaining my conversation the previous day, I was told that someone was still in room and that I should be able to check in at the "very latest, 1pm." I returned at half 12 and asked the man on reception if I could check in and was told "Check in is at 3, go away and come back then." I explained that I was told that I would be able to check in no later than 1 and he said, "Well, it's not 1 yet is it." I was finally able to check in at 1. Their customer service is appalling. Had the staff not been so rude, I would highly recommend the hotel. However, I will find alternative accommodation for my next trip.
Location is excellent, in the heart of London to go everywhere. Building is well managed and clean and good buffet breakfast in the morning. Wifi is very fast there as its student dorm, I prefer to stay here than a B&B in London.
Have to buy a storage card for laundry and as for a short term stay there is a waste as no refund on the card deposit of 1 pound.
Liked the availability of location The staff, Emanuel, was most helpful. The fact we could call the taxi w/o charge. Breakfast was very good
One room had dirty linen Took too long to be changed The night meal was too expensive We went around the corner & ate for a lot less
The location was perfect, as we were going to the Globe 5 minutes away. The room was basic, but clean, plus the beds were very comfortable and we slept well. There was plenty of hot water for showers. No TV might be a problem for some people, but was not an issue for us. The refectory style breakfast room was clean and the breakfast good and plentiful. Value for money was outstanding for London!
It is like a big student's house. But it is great. We were there with my mother, we had like an apartment, were two bedroom with private bathroom. The breakfast is good too. Really close to the tube and the Tate Museum. We had a wonderful time in London and the hotel helped a lot for that.
