Score from 2906 reviews Good
breakfast is good (even though not as good as at the LSE High Holborn) and even though you are right behind Tate Modern, you are not very close to an undergroud station.
The girls that were working at the reception when I arrived were extremely rude and impatient. They should be scrubbing toilets instead of dealing with people, especially tourists.
Comfortable beds Clean bedding and room Inexpensive
- furnishing of room - fusty smell of the room - no tv/relaxing chair - food very basic and had to use disposable plates etc due to dishwasher breakdown
location; included breakfast; room size
very basic indeed; wait for lifts when going to room on 5th floor.
clean room, very friendly personnel, excellent location, very good value, good breakfast
the students from summercamp (italiens) have been very loud and rude.
Very close to the Thames. Enjoyed the walks/run along the river Breakfast was very good and our room for a family of four was huge. The location is quiet. The restaurants were 5 minutes walk away.
The banging from the next door room.
The room was a depressing and dingy cell and if I was a student there I would quickly get depressed. The bed was disgusting and so uncomfortable I had to take mattress off and put on floor. i complained and staff were helping and provided an extra quilt to use as padding. On waking my back was in extremely painful. The breakfast even at 7.10 am appeared to nave been standing for hours, very poor quality and almost inedible. I was the worst place I have ever stayed in my 40 years of travelling.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Clean rooms. Excellent breakfast. Brilliant location.
Modest price for London. Was upgraded so very good value for money.
Had to get a taxi to find it.
Shower was too small
Everything. Hotel is far from underground stations, rooms not very clean, no TV, bathroom designed for disabled people only, staff grumpy and unhelpful, noisy student guests, no telephone from sixth floor to reception. Asked for a pillow on one evening, again next morning and finally had to wait for it at reception the following evening. Mattresses so bad we woke up with a backache each morning. Tea and coffee was NEVER replenished in a week. Will never visit any LSE hotel again. Stay away!!!
Excellent location, reasonable price and attentive staff
Large groups of language students roamed the halls very noisily past midnight, and there was little control of them. It would be perfect if earplugs could be provided
breakfast was great, price was right, in a good part of town
VERY basic accom and was noisy.
1) Nice breakfast, especially with a variety of fruits to choose from. 2) Twin room. It's very convenient for a small group of friends.
1) Electric water cooker looks worn out. 2) Breakfast can start earlier since some people get to catch an early flight!!
Near the Thames, behind the Tate Modern, close to the Globe and more! As I understand it, this 'hotel' is the student dorm for the London School of Economics during the school year so it set up with dorm style beds. The breakfast is dorm style cafeteria. In the summer it is available to book by tourists and student groups. It was fine because we knew what we were getting into. Given that there were student groups there, we were pleased that it wasn't noisy. Lobby staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Dorms get a lot of heavy use and the public areas like the lobby show wear. The Internet can be very slow at times. Decor is spartan but clean. We only ate there for breakfast which was typical food for a dorm.
Cheap. Excellent value for money breakfast. Perfect location. Accomodation fine if what expecting - beds comfortable and shower bathroom all worked perfectly. We would use again.
Very busy and bustling and feels like a hall of residence. Quite noisy although not too late. Room very basic.
Simple, and not pretentious Breakfast Bar prices Free Wi-Fi
No TV in the room, but free Wi-Fi made up for it
Early in the morning was very noisy outside on the street.
Great location - very close to Shakespeare's Globe, Borough Market, Tower of London, and much more. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and spacious. This was my first trip to London and it was an amazing experience! I would definitely stay at LSE Bankside House again on my next visit.
pleasant surroundings good breakfast-yum.
Breakfast excellent and staff friendly
Room was unclean and uncomfortable mattresses
Very central location, tube close by. Many sights within walking distance. Good selection for Breakfast - some queuing but this is to be expected.. If you want somewhere central and good value this is ideal. If you want 5 star book 5 star.
