Good food service and Leisure facilities
Great price. Indoor pool with hot tub was excellent.
Bit shabby in places
We were greet at reception with a smile and a lovely welcome. Shown around the facilities. Shown our room. We were early but it was ready. All staff pleasant. Hotel beautiful. Food great.
Can't fault anything
The hotel was ran efficiently, clean, with great facilities. PS Breakfast was also wonderful.
Narrow stairways to rooms at the top are a bit of a pain with the suitcases. (thought staff offered to help :-)) I could feel the springs in the double bed but as i was sharing with a 5yr old sleeping was already a challenge. :-)
No wifi in room
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and service. (gluten-free food available) Hotel has a wonderful view and a great garden. Free parking ensuite. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, bathroom with bath and jets. Lots of possibilities for free time, e.g. table tennis, board games, swimming pool, sauna.
Some steps leading down to the garden need a bit TLC.
Leisure facilities especially the pool and Jacuzzi. The games room. The gardens and proximity to the beach for walks. Also the proximity to Shanklin which is probably the nicest little town we saw on the Isle of Wight. Comfortable lounges to sit and read or browse on the ipad.
Wasn't very keen on the cooked food, either at breakfast or the one dinner that we had. It felt a little stale and warmed over. The coffee was like lukewarm water - too weak. The staff were very keen and hard working but some were friendlier than others. Some need to smile more!
The views from the hotel are fantastic. It's a short walk down to the beach and the gardens are lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We expected a little bit more from the hotel because of the cost. The hotel could do with a bit of an upgrade in terms of its decor. The breakfast was also a bit disappointing (not the service, that was fantastic, but the quality of the food served). The hotel was however clean and comfortable and perfect for exploring the Isle of Wight.
The customer service really was very effortful, thoughtful, applied. They were keen to do all they could for you and then some! We hired bikes and had restaurant recommendations, everything.
Pink bathroom suite, cramped bathroom, down at heel, really ought to be decorated rooms.
On arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Tour of hotel offered and then shown to our rooms which were very comfortable with everything we needed. TV did not work in our room but help came promptly from front desk and rectified the problem. Nice to be offered complimentary tea in conservatory. An amazing breakfast with plenty of choice and excellent service. Grandchildren enjoyed swimming pool and games room. Would certainly return again.
Very friendly, helpful, staff. Great views from our room (21) Spacious room. Nice gardens & good location. Good value overall.
Cooked breakfast poor quality. Some breakfast menu items not as described or not available. Some cleanliness problems in room, plumbing issues (water temperature varies, easy to burn, hard to maintain shower temperature). TV system poor.
All was great! Had no enough time to enjoy it. Will be a lot nicer in the summer.
Facilities and location
Wonderful views, great facilities, friendly staff. We had the executive double room with sea view and it was stunning. Fabulous bed, loads of room, gorgeous balcony and breath-taking views. The hotel was perfect for children - we loved the toy room, played football in the squash court & had a wonderful time in the pool (though note there isn't really a shallow end so don't forget the arm bands).
The location was tricky for us as I have a toddler. The location up on the cliff gives wonderful views but because we had a buggy we couldn't go down the 150 odd stairs to the beach & instead used the path down by the chine. That was fine going down but we ended up having to get a cab back. When we went without the buggy I ended up having to carry my son part of the way home as it was too steep for him to walk all the way. Also, it's on the edge of town, not that close to any shops so felt a bit isolated - though of course that has it's positives too!
Accommodation staff and service
Great facilities including pool, hot tub, sauna. Friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic location
The fire in the bar very relaxing, the hotel had everything we needed for a superb break.
The Shower needed to be a bit better seemed to bit lacking in pressure
Stunning view from our room, friendly staff and good food
The iron in our room didn't work but was soon replaced. That's the only thing I can think of!
The paintwork and repairs are poor, it needs a good refurb, to make things more pleasant, it's shabby carpets are old, like the toaster ? What makes the hotel is the Staff, the welcome we got from the manageress was superb.
access to the beach and views
slightly old fashioned feel about decor
We were unable to have dinner in the hotel on request. Although we booked before the requisite time we were told that the restaurant was full. The restaurant obviously cannot cater for a full hotel. We were give as a reason "Well we are a hotel with a restaurant rather than a restaurant with a hotel" The room allegedly a superior spa room was certainly charges as thogh that's what we were getting, the advertised bathrobes were absent and the third bed taking up space unnecessarily was defininitely not contributory to it being a superior room. Beware of the pricing, check what you are going to get for your money. The tiny pool was constantly full of children, so we didn't bother with that, and the bar was tatty and overpriced which probably accounts for the fact that there was never anyone in it and therefore no atmosphere. I would visit this hotel again if the room was £85 rather than £130.
Excellent view Friendly welcome
Indoor pool out of action King size bed was to singles with join obvious while trying to sleep. Would have been happy with a normal sized double mattress
Friendliness of all staff. Very good choice of breakfast. Quiet location with ample parking.
reception staff warm and welcoming and very helpful, lovely sea view room comfortable and good value for money. convenient location.
