Score from 113 reviews Very good
Great facilities including pool, hot tub, sauna. Friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic location
The fire in the bar very relaxing, the hotel had everything we needed for a superb break.
The Shower needed to be a bit better seemed to bit lacking in pressure
Stunning view from our room, friendly staff and good food
The iron in our room didn't work but was soon replaced. That's the only thing I can think of!
The paintwork and repairs are poor, it needs a good refurb, to make things more pleasant, it's shabby carpets are old, like the toaster ? What makes the hotel is the Staff, the welcome we got from the manageress was superb.
access to the beach and views
slightly old fashioned feel about decor
We were unable to have dinner in the hotel on request. Although we booked before the requisite time we were told that the restaurant was full. The restaurant obviously cannot cater for a full hotel. We were give as a reason "Well we are a hotel with a restaurant rather than a restaurant with a hotel" The room allegedly a superior spa room was certainly charges as thogh that's what we were getting, the advertised bathrobes were absent and the third bed taking up space unnecessarily was defininitely not contributory to it being a superior room. Beware of the pricing, check what you are going to get for your money. The tiny pool was constantly full of children, so we didn't bother with that, and the bar was tatty and overpriced which probably accounts for the fact that there was never anyone in it and therefore no atmosphere. I would visit this hotel again if the room was £85 rather than £130.
Excellent view Friendly welcome
Indoor pool out of action King size bed was to singles with join obvious while trying to sleep. Would have been happy with a normal sized double mattress
Friendliness of all staff. Very good choice of breakfast. Quiet location with ample parking.
reception staff warm and welcoming and very helpful, lovely sea view room comfortable and good value for money. convenient location.
The hospitality at the hotel was good. We came from Friday and left on Sunday. The hotel was located in a good area in Shanklin overlooking the Sea. It was a lovely view. The garden was well kept and maintained with great flowers and trimmed hedges. Breakfast was provided with a good selection and staff were friendly. Upon checking in we were off a newspaper for the morning however come to checking out there was a charge for this which we were not advised upon. Although it was a little cost this should have been said when it was offered. Overall I would revisit this place it's near all locations and the staff were friendly. Decoration was good but could do with a carpet change
Carpet and furniture could be modernised
Just pop in there in summer time for more crowded events
I liked everything about the place - friendly staff, very pleasant accommodation and first-rate food served with style. The hotel has splendid gardens and its cliff-top location offers refreshing views of the surrounding area and out across the Channel. Shanklin old village is just a short walk away.
Views from the room, the food in restaurant
Disappointed could not get in the restaurant the first night, having driven and was our anniversary we had to go in to town to look for a place to eat.
Cathy; the receptionist was excellent, she was very pleasant and knowledgeable. A great start to our visit.
in the public areas some of the paintwork could do with some attention, some of the fire doors were dirty. The waiting staff at breakfast should clear tables as they go. On both mornings they passed our table, and others, on their way to the kitchen without making any attempt to clear dirty plates, cereal, fruit bowls and finished breakfast plates piled on the table is not attractive or professional!!
The staff were outstanding (and fun) The gardens Enjoyable meals
Bedroom Layout awkward No lift for the elderly TV set up was virtually unusable Poor WiFi reception
It was a child friendly hotel, staff put themselves out & nothing was too much trouble! One member of staff showed my young nephew how to play Pool! Beautiful views over the bay & plenty for children to do in the garden / play area. Family room met our needs & was cleaned & restocked every day
There seemed to be issues around booking dinner in the restaurant - you had to book ahead, which with children not always feasible. One night we were unable to make a booking as no more bookings were being taken, yet appeared half empty?!
Lovely location, wonderful staff. A real gem
The room with a view was perfect, spacious, clean and very comfortable. We could lie in bed and see the sea.
Unfortunately we had a loud snorer in the room next to us. We were also surprised that coffee or tea wasn't offered following our evening meal.
Views great. Breakfast good and evening menu had lots of choice. My young daughter and mother-in-law enjoyed their meal in the restaurant. Lots of restaurants in Old Shanklin nearby. Gardens / tea room attractive and play area handy for young children.
Decor and facilities need updating. Bar area was dark and enclosed. Could do with opening up bar and restaurant area to make it more light and airy. Walk through chine to shops a bit steep for elderly.
Shanklin is a very pretty town and has lots of good places to eat and have a few drinks, the hotel is centrally located between the town and beach and takes less than 10 minutes to walk to either. The hotel is very much family orientated and has a lot to offer for all ages. We would definately use this hotel again.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
The Chef is fantastic and I would gladly eat anything that he has cooked. The gardens are beautiful and well worth investigating.
The staff were over familiar and unprofessional compared to other hotels I have stayed in but were helpful to a point. There are a number of stairs in this hotel and no lift so if you have a lot of luggage or if you suffer with mobility problems this could be an issue.
Staff friendly out door pool and garden area good
Need supervision food hit and miss
The Staff were fantastic couldn't do enough for you. The room was comfortable. The views were amazing. The house was lovely. Great swimming pools inside and out with a hot tub. Great gardens. Tea garden a nice touch. Access to beach.
The place needs a refurb. the building the rooms hallways all very tried. The dining room was the worse we didn't want to eat in there as it looked so depressing. The gardens were lovely but it needed a lot of attention dead leaves, branches flowers no water in the ponds not everywhere but just spoilt the look of what is a beautiful garden. Breakfast average. No home product used.
Location, friendly staff, excellent shower!, inter-connecting door between rooms. Outdoor swimming pool and facilities.
Television in room had very poor reception. Bathroom a little tired - shower enclosure needs power cleaning to remove mould on tiles.
The friendly staff made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing & the swimming pools & games facilities were very good. The room was cleaned to a very high standard daily & the hotel grounds were a joy to walk through with well manicured gardens & flower pots.
The central lobby was unable to vent accumulated hot air at high ambient temperatures (25-30degC) leading to our bedroom (No4) being extremely hot even though the room windows were permanently wide open. Some form of skylight vent is definitely needed! Or fans should be provided for the rooms off the lobby hall.
