Cromwell's Inn is a small town hotel right in the centre of Shrewsbury. It offers comfortable bedrooms, a secluded garden and free Wi-Fi access.
Score from 352 reviews Very good
Situated directly opposite Shrewsbury rail station, the Station Hotel overlooks the red sandstone of Shrewsbury Castle and benefits from a location in the town centre.
Score from 143 reviews Good
Very close to shops and railway. A few meters from a castle.
View from window of lovely buildings across street Bed was comfortable Very central location Effective secondary glazing
Very overpriced Breakfast not included in price Bedroom very small En-suite shower room very cramped Cut finger on broken shard of glass left in wash basin Dental floss on floor Tiny TV barely watchable Harsh lighting
very central location close to the station and centre of town, very clean room, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast
the smell in bedroom of cold tobacco and the strong smell in the hallway/stairs the constant television noise day and evening and movement of people near my room who seemed to be permanent resident there
Traffic a bit noisy in morning
Great location, good breakfast tasty and well cooked, room at the back was quiet. Good coffee. buffet service breakfast. Good value.
The owner was not very helpful nice
Room was nicely decorated with a small ensuite both well cleaned. Location was great with a minutes walk to the shops/castle and parking round the corner at the station.
Room was let down by a tiny tv that wasn't attached to the was but tested against the wall on a pot of paint. Also lots of the tv channels didn't work. Paid £5 each for breakfast but the portion was tiny and the bacon not cooked so wish we had gone to a wether spoons where breakfast is bigger, cheaper & tastes better!
A friendly welcome from our Swedish hostess. The room was small but comfortable and warm. The town centre location is excellent with close proximity to shops and restaurants. The freshly prepared breakfast was first class and value for money. I would recommend this hotel.
A tiny television.
Unbeatable location; 50 yards from the railway station with no road to cross, and 200 yards from the guesthouse to the pedestrianized central shopping precinct. Our twin room was small and simply furnished but comfortable, with a small but modern ensuite toilet/shower. It was all well lit too, something even 5-star hotels don't get. Friendly staff, and good towels, shower gel, tea coffee and biscuits and adequate free wifi provided. Full breakfast for a very modest supplement. View out the window of another medieval building opposite - real Shrewsbury.
The downside of the great location is the traffic noise. They have done their best with secondary glazing but rooms at the front are noisy. If you're sensitive, see if you can book the rooms at the back. If you have heavy luggage, you'll carry it up a long steep staircase to reception and another to your room. Also arrive by 7pm as it doesn't appear to be staffed after that.
The location is perfect. 3 minutes walk - Railway station, 2 minutes - bus station, 5 minutes - 3 large malls, 5 minutes - best pub in Shrewsbury, decent pub - next door. Good tasty breakfast, very reasonable pricing. Nice view from the breakfast room. Clean, tidy, good smell everywhere. Very nice owner, really helpful and friendly! A real guesthouse, in a historic building, I am very satisfied.
One hook for a towel on the door and no place for a glass with toothbrush in the bathroom. That's all I can remember.
You get what you pay for. Nice staff very clean very nice building
There was a night club. So if you go during weekends and your room faces the street you will hear the loud music. This probably only happens on Saturdays and Fridays and if you are planning in going out it shouldnt be a problem. We asked for a double bed and we got two single beds.
Prime location - ideal for exploring Shrewsbury
Staff, cleanliness, marvellous shower convenience to town centre, the castle, library and shops
Great position for walking to shops, restaurants and places of interest. Room small, but had all facilities. Shower and toilet very clean. Very helpful staff. Paid £3 for overnight parking, a good deal.
A little traffic noise.
Very friendly staff, great location and yummy cooked breakfast. On check-out day I could also leave my luggage to pick up during the afternoon. Highly recommend.
The historic building and comfortable room.
We used this Guesthouse for its convenience to the railway station .It is literally a stones throw away and also close enough to the town to walk to see all the sights.TIP you can get an excellent map of the town showing you all the sights from the Information centre at the railway station ( you wont get lost with it ).
We liked everything about Shrewsbury and the Lucroft Guesthouse.
The room was really nice with olde worlde features. It was spacious and comfortable enough for my needs, clean and tidy and the owner is a really friendly person. Breakfast was also spot on and the shower was great!
Wi-fi. The code didn't work and I couldn't access the internet. That said, we all live too much for the net these days. It was nice to have the night off!!!
on arrival and throughout our stay the helpfulness of staff. Location for the Buttermarket was perfect. Located on busy traffic street, but room located at back, we heard no noise from the road.
The receptionist, maybe she is the owner, was very kind with always smiling. The location is excellent, just 3-5 minutes' walk from the railway station. Additionally, local bus station is also very close and you can go to the Iron Bridge easily. You can walk around Shrewsbury on foot from the guest house.
I stayed in a loft which was enough for me. But I felt that some space in the room wasn't made use of efficiently, for example, nothing wasn't put on the space under the beam. Though nothing annoyed me.
The friendly staff were very helpful and genuinely considerate and interested in guests and in ensuring a wonderful stay. Location, price, service and fascillities were great. I would definitely stay again and have recommended the Lucroft to friends and family since my stay.
