Room was clean and of a decent size for the price. I love that it's so close to the train station . Literally 5mins walk .

The narrow stairs leading to the rooms on the upper floor.

Clean, comfortable, very helpful staff. Central.

Stairs, lack of parking, more so because of the annual flower show. Very busy traffic wise outside.

It was just near the station and easy to find. I was attending the folk festival and it was very nearby. The rooms were also comfortable if modest which was all I wanted.

Just the flights of stairs where my room was. This was not a particular problem for me but in years to come it might be.

The host was warm, welcoming and wanted to do all she could so that you enjoyed your stay at the guesthouse. The room was clean, bed comfortable with beautiful white embroidery anglaise linen. I requested a vegetarian breakfast and it was cooked very well. The host provided a good selection of food for breakfast and In fact after breakfast I didnt need to eat until 5.00 pm each day. The guesthouse was well situated only being minutes way from the station and the main city centre.

My room was on the front of the guesthouse and the main road was just below my window. It was an extremely busy road at all times. I asked if I could change to another room but unfortunately there was not one available. I did lose a fair amount of sleep on each evening. On Saturday evening the noise was horrendous from the traffic racing down the road, music from either a pub or a club and revellers getting in taxis and slamming the doors around 2.00 in the morning. I would stay at this guesthouse again and would recommend it to anyone but only if a room was available at the back of the property.

    Location !!!

Stayed in the Lucroft for 3 nights, I had read the reviews so wasn't expecting it to have the wow factor. It wasn't the owners fault that the road noise kept us awake on each night into the early hours, Friday and Saturday being the worst (a warning about road noise should be on the website) but the secondary glazing was poor quality and broken, I felt that the room could have been cleaner. I don't expect to find black hairs and stains on the headboard, stains on the carpets too. It doesn't take much to clean stains out of items nowadays. The light shade was black from the dust. It was the only available place to stay and it was cheap, but would I choose to stay there again - Im afraid not.

Great location, clean and comfortable room with small shower and toilet friendly and welcoming staff, no parking outside but I was able to park in a private car park just across the road for an extra £3.00 per night. Great place to stay !

Great central location, clean and crisp bedding, friendly and helpful staff member, hearty breakfast, plenty of tea/coffee in the room, good free Wi-Fi connectivity, lovely old tudor building.

It's very close to the railway station and town centre -- literally a couple of minutes' walk from both, which was immensely helpful to me as I was a backpacker using rail transport. Shrewsbury is an exquisite town and well worth a visit.

Great location, close to station and in town centre. Friendly and helpful owners. Tidy decoration, well maintained. Great breakfast.

Some noise from outside, due to being on a busy main street.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. I was coming from the railway station and it was great to have something so close without hearing the train. The location was great for exploring the town and my view from the top room was fantastic.

The Lucroft is in an ideal location for the railway station. I've stayed there before and this visit was just as good. Last time I was in a lovely single room in the attic opposite the entrance to the Archives - a similar view this time from a double room on the floor below. The en suites in both rooms had excellent showers. Friendly and professional staff, and excellent breakfasts - thank you. Highly recommended.

The only possible downside is all the stairs (which might be difficult for some to manage) but that is not a criticism, just an observation. There is a useful comfy seat on the first landing!
