“Very very good Dinner. I would recommend the hotel for the Michelin Guide *. Very friendly and helpful staff.”
Daniel,
Stuttgart
This unique 17th-century inn is an idyllic escape on the water’s edge. Its restaurant with sunny terrace overlooks the harbor and serves fresh seafood. Each room has a luxurious private bathroom. Portloe is a beautiful fishing village in a conservation area at the foot of a valley. It forms part of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula and has a picturesque cove and a tiny harbor to explore. Lugger Hotel has been recommended by many, including the British newspaper Sunday Times and Johanssens. Hotel Rooms: 21, Hotel Chain: Oxford Hotels & Inns. The company of friends who joined us for supper. Vastly over-priced for the standard offered.Accommodation in annexes and scruffy/dangerous areas between buildings. Plaster flaking from wall in bedroom.Curtains badly hung on ill-fitting poles.Paint work on bath panel unsatisfactory. These are not complaints, simply observations.

Extremely helpful staff Portions at dinner were too small and some fresh vegetables would have been welcome; petit fours frankly mean. ( I am comparing this with other tine dining experiences ) quality of the food was however very good, breakfast was excellent.

Nice out of the way, beautiful coast - rocks, sea and breeze. The restaurant specializes in seafood, of course. Unfortunately, it proved impossilbe to get vegan, dairy free specially prepared dishes. And it is rather difficult making your way to the place, actually.

The location. Situated in a small village next to the slipway places the hotel in a perfect location. The coastal footpath is right outside. Staff our pleasant and helpful. Relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in the Boathouse located on the other side of the slipway from the hotel. This was fine. However like any hotel guests can be noisy when using the common access and corridors. While there is little the hotel can do about this sound proofing in the rooms could be improved. The floorboards in our room creaked. We could hear the couple above us moving around and using the toilet. Sunday morning we were made aware of the woman's pleasure before enjoying an excellent breakfast! We would probably ask for another room on are next visit.

Despite the poor weather the superb meals and the friendliness of the staff made the stay a very welcome experience. The attention to detail is excellent from the fact that our room was tidied up 2 or 3 times a day (depending upon your usage) and each time little packages of biscuits or cakes were left - upon our return to the room in the evening we would find biscuits, weather details and menu for the following day and a daily joke to read. The meals and positioning of the hotel were superb - its situated right in the harbour so you can watch the fishermen bring their boats back in with their mornings catch whilst sitting having your breakfast only 5 metres away. Beware if you are a mobile phone fanatic as there is no signal at the hotel (which I thought was excellent) but there is free WiFi if you need. Please note that you will need to use a detailed road map or satnav to find the hotel as the local lanes are tortuous and poorly signed. Of all the hotels we have stayed in this rates right up there at the top alongside the Grand Hotel Royal, Sorrento, which to date we have rated all other hotels against We disliked absolutely nothing

The view from the dining room is wonderful. Our table overlooked the bay and we were lucky enough to have great weather for our stay. Would definitely go again Food was good but a little expensive.

The dinner in the restaurant was utterly amazing! The finest three courses of food I have ever had and the advice on wine was spot on. I know this sounds over the top but it really was simply that fantastic. Also if you like cliff walks and sea views you will not be disappointed in the slightest, a 4 mile walk to Carne Beach was beautiful. A must!

Very nice stay ! a lot of attention to details, a vey pleasant and smiling staff, beautiful location, good food, delicious breakfasts and a lot of original charm. Maybe the music ? Pop music, or brass and drums, did not fit the mood ! and even at low volume, it could be heard through the walls upstairs, because it reverberates. It would be so simple to insulate the speakers from the ground in the bar and at least keep them away from the walls, which we suggested. (And is the music necessary anyway... ?)

The Lugger is the perfect base for exploring the Roseland peninsula. The walks you can do are fantastic. The hotel has the perfect location in the tiny village of Portloe and the staff is very accomodating and kind. The hotel has only got 22 rooms and all are different. Very few has direct sea-view.

The location of the hotel ia fantastic, situated directly onto the beach with the cornish coastal path running alongside. Lots of fabulous bracing walks. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming, we were always greated by name as opposed to room number.
