Stuttgart
This unique 17th-century inn is an idyllic escape on the water’s edge. Its restaurant with sunny terrace overlooks the harbor and serves fresh seafood. Each room has a luxurious private bathroom. Portloe is a beautiful fishing village in a conservation area at the foot of a valley. It forms part of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula and has a picturesque cove and a tiny harbor to explore. Lugger Hotel has been recommended by many, including the British newspaper Sunday Times and Johanssens. Hotel Rooms: 21, Hotel Chain: Oxford Hotels & Inns.

The company of friends who joined us for supper. Vastly over-priced for the standard offered.Accommodation in annexes and scruffy/dangerous areas between buildings. Plaster flaking from wall in bedroom.Curtains badly hung on ill-fitting poles.Paint work on bath panel unsatisfactory. These are not complaints, simply observations.

Site and compactness of the hotel. Breakfasts. Excellent staff - nothing too much trouble. Room was adjacent to a landing so there was some noise as other guests went to their rooms.

Lovely location and plenty of character. Friendly staff. I've had better mains at dinner for the price and the coffee was not quite up to standard.

The hotel is old and quaint and within three different buildings next to each other. The location is wonderful with fantastic views especially from the dining room. We loved the service and all the wonderful little finishing touches and extras like the hot chocolate with marshmallows delivered in the evenings! The restaurant food was really delicious and nothing was too much trouble (for example) when I asked for a slight variation with vegetables at dinner they were very obliging. Breakfasts were equally good. The bedroom was modest in size, but it is a very old building. The bed large and very comfortable and it was beautifully presented. I would not hesitate to recommend the Lugger Hotel because it was lovely there. Some people might feel the lack of internet in the bedrooms an inconvenience, but a trip to the lounge and it was fine.

Despite the poor weather the superb meals and the friendliness of the staff made the stay a very welcome experience. The attention to detail is excellent from the fact that our room was tidied up 2 or 3 times a day (depending upon your usage) and each time little packages of biscuits or cakes were left - upon our return to the room in the evening we would find biscuits, weather details and menu for the following day and a daily joke to read. The meals and positioning of the hotel were superb - its situated right in the harbour so you can watch the fishermen bring their boats back in with their mornings catch whilst sitting having your breakfast only 5 metres away. Beware if you are a mobile phone fanatic as there is no signal at the hotel (which I thought was excellent) but there is free WiFi if you need. Please note that you will need to use a detailed road map or satnav to find the hotel as the local lanes are tortuous and poorly signed. Of all the hotels we have stayed in this rates right up there at the top alongside the Grand Hotel Royal, Sorrento, which to date we have rated all other hotels against We disliked absolutely nothing

The view from the dining room is wonderful. Our table overlooked the bay and we were lucky enough to have great weather for our stay. Would definitely go again Food was good but a little expensive.

Very nice stay ! a lot of attention to details, a vey pleasant and smiling staff, beautiful location, good food, delicious breakfasts and a lot of original charm. Maybe the music ? Pop music, or brass and drums, did not fit the mood ! and even at low volume, it could be heard through the walls upstairs, because it reverberates. It would be so simple to insulate the speakers from the ground in the bar and at least keep them away from the walls, which we suggested. (And is the music necessary anyway... ?)

The location of the hotel ia fantastic, situated directly onto the beach with the cornish coastal path running alongside. Lots of fabulous bracing walks. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming, we were always greated by name as opposed to room number.

The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. They had a constant smile on their faces as if they could not believe their luck to be working in such a lovely place. The room was beautiful with an amazing sea view. The food in the restaurant was outstanding.

The staff were excellent - particularly the manager, who was there on the first evening we checked in and for most of the weekend. The fact that we could not get a mobile phone signal or wifi was brilliant - a truly relaxing place. Fantastic location Have stayed at the hotel previously and think it is overall excellent - however, given the cost small touches were missing - in room tea/coffee whilst having real milk in the fridge was great the quality/qauntity of the tea/coffee was poor (when compared to say Hotel du Vin for example). The same in the bathrooms - again where small touches can make such a difference. One reason for choosing hotels like the Lugger is that we spend a lot of time in "business" and "budget" hotels when working it is worth making the effort to be different and better than average.
