The staff were very friendly, polite and attentive There was a lot of attention to detail and small touches to make us feel welcome The food was delicious The views from the restaurant / bar were lovely The location was great

The plumbing in the bedrooms was noisy so we were woken by other guests getting up early

Friendly helpful staff. Idealistic Location (it is very secluded but we loved this about it) Amazing food. Rooms are modern and very comfortable - including the bed which was a little too comfortable and almost led to no sightseeing which would be criminal!

Dinner: Bread and starter served together, didn't spot that wine was blend ( chenin Blanc/ Viognier ) - might have been me failing to spot the Chenin Blanc - wine ok but would have chosen differently, sauteed broccoli and beans not good. Petit fours with coffee were mean.

Extra touches, bottles of water, fruit in room, hot chocolate with marshmallow and hot water bottle in the evening fresh local produce, delicious evening meal and breakfast view from restaurant and sun terrace

Car parking is a bit tight but glad that it's directly behind the hotel if raining it would be annoying having to move between separate building

Some lovely attention to detail - for example coming back to the room at the end of the day to find hot water bottles in our bed and hot chocolate. All the staff were very approachable.

There are some major contradictions, for example the bedrooms were lovely as was the bed linen but the pillows were synthetic and not very comfortable which meant a not very restful sleep. Whilst the service was friendly it was very slow. We waited 20 minutes in the lounge to order a cup of tea then given up and went to the pub instead. The evening food was lovely but breakfast was really sub standard, on looking ipround the room most people left food on their plates - over cooked scrambled eggs and undercooked tomatoes for example.

Relaxed yet efficient staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food but not pretentious. Wonderful location and very comfortable rooms.

We spent our honeymoon there many years ago and so it was fun to make a return visit. The hotel is bigger than it was but it still retains its charm and its intimacy. The location is absolutely stunning. The staff were both helpful and friendly

Would have welcomed a Wi-Fi connection in the bedrooms, and since our visit coincided with the Ryder Cup, it would have been a bonus to have had Sky Sports on the television. On the other hand my wife would have regarded the above as a plus not a minus!

My partner loves walking and taking in the scenery. I like relaxing and a little walking along lovely sandy beeches. we did it all here from the lugger hotel. very slick operation with great food and stunning views.

It is in a stunning location,overlooking a pretty, small working fishing harbour. The staff are friendly, the decor tasteful and the atmosphere is relaxed. We enjoyed the delicious food,well cooked and presented. There are wonderful coastal footpaths on the doorstep and delightful beaches nearby. We live near Truro just a few miles away but this was a restful break to celebrate my husbands birthday

The Lugger is in the most idyllic little fishing village, a world away from touristy Cornish towns. It is not what I would describe as a boutique hotel but it was extremely comfortable and I would not hesitate to stay there again. The little touches made it different from other places - hot chic with marshmallows left in the room before bedtime, a weather forecast, and also a funny little poem. Excellent food, both breakfast but especially dinner.

The room was very comfortable but it could do with being refurbished slightly, there was a little bit of mould round the bath, and the carpet could do with being replaced. Other than that it was very nice.

Very peaceful in a luxury accomodation. Setting was beautiful. Staff excellent and couldn't do more.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon, the setting is amazing. Hidden away in a tiny Cornish village between two small headlands. It's a true getaway location! The front of house staff were welcoming and friendly but not overly so. We were walked to our room in the second building, lots of nice touches like sherbet lemons and fresh fruit. Very impressed on first impressions. The room was very clean and of a good standard, especially the bathroom which was huge although the lack of a proper shower cubicle was unexpected for the price (was a in-bath job) During our stay we did slowly notice that the whole place has an obviously 'designed' atmosphere. Almost a simulcra of any 'nice' hotel in the country (twigs in vases etc etc). They are missing an opportunity here, given the ancient history of the venue and the setting it could be really authentic but this has been wasted by the semi-modern feel they've gone for. We'd go back but only if we could get a discounted price - the location and setting really is absolutely wonderful. But we wouldn't eat there (see restaurant review below).

Don't eat at the restaurant. The food is massively overpriced for what you get. We're both long-term Londoners and dine out at least twice a week so have a good broad experience of dining. The Lugger restaurant was possibly the worst dining experience we've ever had. Food was served slowly and without care or passion. The staff had no knowledge of the the menu, the contents of the items or what options there were. Portion size was diabolical. We paid £24 for a lamb dish that when arrived I nearly sent back as we thought they'd mixed it up with a appetiser. Literally 2 mouthfuls and the plate was clean. In London, this place wouldn't last a single season, don't be fooled, the hotel is great; just don't waste your money and precious holiday time in this dive.

We could not find fault with this delightful hotel, in this delightful place - not a shop in sight - so if you are a shopaholic - then don't go! Peace and quiet, delicious food and friendly staff all go to making up The Lugger Hotel as one of the best 'smaller' hotels we have stayed in. My only quibble - and perhaps it's not really worth mentioning - was that on our first night, we had a terrificly hot and heavy king-sized duvet on our bed - despite being blessed with very hot weather. I mentioned this to the staff the following morning and they were more than willing to change the duvet for a much cooler sheet and blanket. Heaven! So we slept much better on our 2nd night. The food was exemplary and a work of art on a plate - you know what I mean! Portions were more than adequate for myself, but maybe if you are a huge hungry male - and wanting your fill - then perhaps this is not the place for you. We shall certainly return on a future occasion.

I loved its location. Very peaceful and tranquil.The staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was as comfortable and pleasant as possible.The food was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to get away from it all .

Both of us found the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and our room was comfortable and spotless. We liked the attention to detail such as the apples and drinks provided on our leaving for a coastal walk. Altogether a very pleasent stay, despite the weather!

Car parking was restricted although we managed to get the last bay.
