Comfortable bed Cleanliness Close to Cove and other points of interest
Location of room (extractor from kitchen just outside window) Limited breakfast range of options (which you discover only when you ask for certain items on the menu) No lounge for customers to sit in Temperamental shower
Location right close to Lulworth cove was idyllic Nice breakfast Very clean
Lacked refinement and finishing touches but did not detract from enjoyment of stay - price rate reflects location
Tatty finishes, cigarette smoke in bedroom and bedding, leaking shower
Staff were very helpful and went the extra mile for their customers. The food was excellent.
Room next to staircase so very noisy when other guests came up to their rooms.
Excellent view of the cove from our room. Could not fault the food
Location is perfect. Rooms are very clean. Excellent breakfast. We recommended it to our friends already.
Friendly helpful staff Yummy breakfast Lovely room with view Good atmosphere
What a great location!
Not having booked two more days!
The breakfast was excellent.
Having to park in the car park behind the visitor centre (approx. 300 yds away) was a real pain as we returned from a night out and had to walk over the rough gravel in the dark , thankfully it was not raining as well !
The location at Lulworth Cove is simply stunning and the view from the terrace us beautiful. Lunch was lovely and good value for money. Breakfast in the dining room was delicious with a good variety to choose from. Would definitely recommend n to friends and family alike.
The room was basic but to be honest we went for the location.
the sight, the breakfast
the staff in the beginning was very unwelcome.
The chef did an excellent battered haddock, chips and mushy peas. The cooked English breakfast is good with very generous portions.
We were given room 3 - avoid it if you can. This is a small, dark room that has been stuffed full with the standard furniture, leaving no room to swing a mouse, never mind the proverbial cat. You can hardly get round the door into the room without falling straight onto the bed, then you have to squeeze by the oversized table to get to the bathroom. It was nice to have a generously sized double bed but the room is just not large enough for it. There are also two bulky bedside tables, but only one bedside lamp which wasn’t working when we were there as the bulb had gone - we had to manage with the dingy overhead light. I would have thought it not unreasonable to expect two bedside lamps in a double room with two bedside tables. The bathroom wAs not much better – extremely cramped and hardly any space to deposit items or hang up a towel. The showerhead kept falling off the holder and crashing into the bathtub whilst the toilet was extremely difficult to flush properly. The waitresses down in the restaurant seemed pleasant enough but seemed to lack some basic training. We had been told when checking in that we could order an evening meal until around 8 o’clock but when we went down at 7.30 we were told that they couldn’t serve us. This was a misunderstanding – owing to a power cut earlier in the day, they were only serving people with a booking or B&B guests and they had just assumed that we were “walk-ins”. When we ordered, we wanted to eat outside and were told(!) to go outside, choose a table and come back and give our table number – if, though, the waitress had come out with us she would have seen that the table needed clearing and wiping. I had to ask her twice to come and wipe our table, and when she came to do it my husband caught her raising her eyes in annoyance. At breakfast, service was very sluggish and the waitress needed to be prompted on every issue.
Excellent accomodation, bed. Excellent food, scallops.
Stunning view Good outside space Good food
Have to share outside space Not as secluded as picture implies
everthing, food good place good, staff attitude excellent, and very helpfull at all times.Very quiet after about 21:30 hrs.Views from our room were breath taking, if staying here try and get room 1 or 2 as they both have a shared balcony which overlook the cove.
having to carry your luggage across the local square to your hotel, because of restricted access times.
beautiful location breakfast generally good comfortable bed
Had not been to Lulworth before so was unaware of traffic & parking restrictions, booking.com must make this clear. We were allocated Room 12 on top floor was v small, poor decor, mismatchd doors, chipped paintwork, thought we had been sent to the staff quarters. Were moved to Room 4 after complaining. A better room however, it has a noisy smelly kitchen fan outside the window which came on every morning at 8. The bath badly needed proper resealing and the bath and taps were chipped, the shower was useless. There were no bedside lamps. It did have access to the upper terrace which which was a bonus but the wall outside the door to the terrace was green with with water coming from the outside fire escape above every time it rained. Also the terrace furniture was tatty with some chairs broken, loads of discarded cigarette buts and the odd plate or piece of cutlery left by a staff member. Generally very poor value for money and needs a make over. We did glimpse a couple of 'good rooms' Rooms 2 & 3.
Meal prices rather high
Superb location and room 2 great. Fab view and French doors onto decking area
Room 2 decking area communal straight from our doors so no privacy. Had to shut curtains to get changed! Corridors/doors resemble a youth hostel and staff not over welcoming or helpful. TV in room but no signal.
great locaton; bishops [place next door] had great seafood for dinner; good breakfast
Allowed us to check in early for a wedding, as we were running late, booked our taxi and got the room ready for us. Perfect location, just wish we could have stayed longer!
Everything was fine, staff very good and food excellent.
Location. Food was excellent service and staff were excellent.
Room was very basic. Wardrobe door fell off. Tv failed to work no signal.bathroom not very clean. Do not think the room was worth the money.have stayed in better rooms for less money.
The young girl working was great, very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are not at all like in the photo, we had the kitchen fan outside our window that went on at 8.30am being a hot summer windows were wide open so kitchen smells started at 6.30 and then the fan started.
The location obviously! Fantastic view of the village, crystal clear water in the duck pond, a short stroll to the beach and the extraordinary cliff formations over the hill. I simply couldn't fault this hotel, I thought it was fabulous! Friendly staff, beautifully furnished inside and outside on the decking dining area, our room was clean, beautifully furnished, bed was very comfortable, and we had a all star view to the front. The food was top class, and presented in a master chef way. Also, I thought I had read somewhere that we were allowed to use the pool of the hotel next door as it belonged to the same owner, and as it was searingly hot, I asked permission and went and had the pool all to myself Overlooking the bay! I felt as though I was in a tropical paradise! All in all we counted ourselves as being very lucky to have got such a room, as we had booked at short notice, and could only conclude that other people had been put off coming due to previous bad reviews, I guess the hotel has undergone improvements since then, otherwise couldn't understand the bad reviews.
We loved everything, except the walls were a bit thin and we heard the guy in the next room snoring, but I always take ear plugs with me to hotels, so I wasn't affected by it, and expect my husband gave him a run for his money in return ; )
