I loved the set up of the room with the old fashioned look with the dresser and the personal touches of the teddies and other nick jacks. Made me feel at home.
In annex room which suited me perfectly
the hotel closed down on 10/01/14
EVERYTHING. NO HOT WATER IN HAND BASIN ROOM WAS FILTHY ONE ROOM TOILET DIDNT FLUSH ,SON AND HIS WIFE HAD TO DOWN 2FLIGHTS OF STAIR TO BAR TOILETS
Value for your money, very tipical hotel
Limited time for breakfast. Some part of the room were not clean.
had a lovely room - just looked like the brochure pic. excellent meal. staff very helpful and friendly. would book to go again soon.
we loved our stay at hotel, brian the head chef made our stay great he made us our dinner every night of our stay he opened the bar for us so we could have a drink before our meal the breakfast was great too will be back again.
Room badly in need of refurbishment, Uncomfortable bed,No pillow protectors so pillows were dirty, Poor breakfast for the money charged.Didn't live up to the way it's presented on the website.
The quaintness of the hotel, the room was nice and big, the decor was lovely, the receptionist was very friendly.
the room could have been much cleaner, not hoovered properly, and bed side cabinets still stained from previous guests, tv only had channel 4, the bathroom had a broken floor tile, which could have really hurt ones foot, but we noticed it, and covered with a towel.
Location near Firth of Forth and closeness to Lower Largo, birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the basis for Robinson Crusoe.
had to get breakfast before 0830
Superb food. Attentive staff & a good price. Value for money.
Hotel was very quiet. In fact I think there were only 2 more people staying at the hotel. Shame.
The staff are very helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble
Raidiator half full of air annd no hot water in the morning
Large traditional bedroom and ensuite, Lovely carpets and curtains every where friendly staff Sunday breakfast
Saturdays` evening carvery. No decaff coffee. Would return for B and B
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
Unable to turn heating down resulting in the room being too warm overnight, even after opening the window a little.
The public rooms were very clean and quite smart, the staff very friendly.
The room was booked as a large double, we were given a very small room despite the hotel not being full. The room was in need of decorating and the bed was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs. Not good enough for a 3star hotel
Room was disgraceful; too small for a couple, badly marked carpets, bed so hard we had to look to see if it had a mattress, peeling wall paper, toilet holder and towel holders barely held to the wall, poor tv reception, no hot water until 0800 hrs. We did complain but did not change rooms as not worth the trouble.
Overall hygeine poor, romms were so thick with dust that you could write your name, bathrooms dirty, breakfast bowls dirty, bread and milk obviously left sitting out overnight! Would not recommend to anyone-sorry!
could check in late approx 1am. the price was the cheapest in the area and the hotel was good for the price and suited us. the hotel was warm and lots of parking.
the towels and sheets were clean but smelled of cigarette smoke. also no duvet, only a blanket. we had to check out early and had been promised some breakfast to take with us however this was not provided.
Great breakfast, delicious haggis and black pudding, lovely view, amazing location, beautiful hotel, parking spots.
For what we paid it was fine. It was clean and pleasant enough
Whilst the staff were very nice there wasn't enough of them to serve the amount of people that were there. I also hope the small room at the side was a staff room rather than the kitchen because someone was smoking in there.
The location was perfect for us as we wanted to explore the East Neuk of Fife. The staff, though very few, were helpful and cheery. The view from our room was lovely.
The room was shabby and dated. The breakfast from 7.15am to 8.15am was not worth getting up for. The hotel was closed from 10am till 5pm. Dinner was only from 7pm till 8pm. There was no hot water for a bath, and no pressure in the shower. The TV's could have been on the Antique Roadshow. The hotel, although 3*, is run like a bad B&B. Spend the extra money for one of the better hotels in the area.
nothing very poor out dated hotel.
The location was ideal for us. The bar was cosey, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was great.
The hotel room. Although clean and comfortable, there were small details (wash basin plug chain not attached - no plug point for dressing table lamp) which suggests a need for some future TLC.
Friendly and helpful staff
Lack of comfort in bedroom - eg: no easy chair Failure to provide evening meals - even though advertised. (explaination were given- but should not list such on advertising litriture The 3* listing should be removed
